My last summer with Cass is a thought provoking book about friendships, how much they shape us, what they mean to us, and how much you have to work for them. The art in this is beautiful and the color pallet was very soothing. I loved the development of both girls, and how both had flaws to work though.
Cass and Megan have been friends for as long as they can remember, always meeting up with their families at a cabin during vacation. When Cass moves away to New York, Megan decides to visit her, but ends up ruining their friendship and something important to Cass in one fatal swoop. Will she able to find her way back to her best friend?

My Last Summer with Cass was a short read, but a fun one. I loved the art style and I think the color palette really worked well. The characters were developed well and it was interesting to learn more about art through the lens of these friends.

I LOVED the side characters and thought they added a lot of depth to the story! I wish we had learned more about them.

My only complaint is that the book can be a little slow at time, even though it is only 130 pages. The characters also got on my nerves a little bit.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really liked this graphic novel and the friendship dynamic between Megan and Cass. I think they rally helped push each other to be better. Even though their friendship went through some tough times they worked through it.
Thanks NetGalley for this Arc!
I really loved this book, Because it kept me guessing when the friendship might end. They were ups and downs and unresolved threads but that’s the same as life and people. The art was warm and welcoming. I wonder when I want to encourage this type of rebelliousness in my children so I’m not sure when I’d share with them. I think that’s a good thing.
Megan and Cass have been friends for years. Every summer their families would rent out a cabin and spend a few weeks there. This is where they discover their love for art. When Cass's parents divorce, they stop coming to the cabin, and Megan doesn't see her for a few years. She finally convinces her parents to let her visit Cass in New York while they go on vacation. Megan is introduced to a world of art she never knew about. She creates things she was afraid to create before. When Megan's parents unexpectedly announce they will be cutting their vacation short and coming to Cass's art show, Megan freaks. She destroys a painting that she and Cass worked on together because she knows her parents won't approve and Cass refuses not to put it in the show. This effectively ruins their friendship for years until Megan finds out that Cass is having a solo art show. She remembers that they promised each other that they would be at each other's first solo shows and drops everything to be there. Cass isn't exactly happy to see her, but they eventually reconcile.
