An old book request that got lost in my first attempt to use NetGalley when I didn’t understand or appreciate how the system worked.

This is a sweet and fun little children's book. It features a bit of magic, adventure and mystery in nice short chapters that are well suited for read-alouds. While it's the second book in the series, it can work as a stand-alone.

As with the other installments in the Tales of Fontania series, "The Queen and the Nobody Boy" makes for a fun romp that capitalizes on the popularity of fantasy adventure narratives in junior fiction and makes for a solid entry in the larger genre in its own right. If you're looking for a book that reinvents the wheel or innovates upon the form, this is not that book. But it's still a good book! It has its own story to tell and questions to ask about the world and what it means to live in the world (or rather, *a* world). It's light, with touches of gravitas, and it moves at a quick clip after accelerating into full throttle after the first few chapters.
