The Heart of Love by Meara Platt
Heather's main goal is to marry well and is all set to marry Lord Tillbury who is a Marquis . Robert a soldier has been in love with Heather for years but feels he has nothing to offer.
An entertaining book a bit of angst and a bit of humour thrown in . An enjoyable read
Never doubt The Book of Love. Also, why would someone even consider marrying someone else when they love another? Regardless of whether that love is returned?
Well, we have a heroine who has dreamed of marrying someone with a title. Then we have someone with a title who screwed up with the woman that he loves and now she does not trust him enough to accept his suit. Add in that the hero loves the heroine who is betrothed to another and you have a very entertaining read.
The characters are so interesting and likable, and the story is well-written and complex. It's very entertaining and will grab your interest right from the very start. Highly recommended.
This is the first book I've read in the series and some references were slightly confusing, but overall I enjoyed reading this story. Heather wants to marry a marquess. She even has one on the hook, but The Book of Love, and her heart, keep pointing her toward Highlander Robert. This causes Heather much angst, confusion and denial. This was definately a fun read.
Thank you Meara Platt, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
This book was a tough read. It's part of a series and I think it must need to be read in order because I was completely lost. The characters were well known to each other and a lot must have occurred between the two in other books in the series. I hated Heather. She kept trying to bury her head in the sand and refused to communicate. The whole story was just a mess of characters who couldn't be bothered in sitting down and having a real conversation with the people they cared about, Instead, they were all willing to drag other people into their situations and everyone was just unhappy. This was a complete miss for me
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Heather Farthingale’s goal in life is to marry well. She has decided that marrying a marquess is exactly what she needs, and her dream is about to come true. But why does Highlander Captain Robert MacLauren keep being pointed to by that Book of Love? After all he has a reputation as a womanizer and has never shown an interest in courtship with Heather. I have enjoyed this series about the Book of Love and how the magic works with the whole family. It has been an enjoyable adventure even when a certain Highland Captain has read the book and seems to understand the message it sends. What a lovely reading adventure this whole series has been.
The Heart of Love is very much like the other books in this series, an easy, light, uncomplicated romance.
Robbie is a sweet, swoon-worthy Scot, and Heather is the object of his affection. Of course, Robbie doesn't feel worthy of Heather, he's a soldier and feels he doesn't have any stability to offer her. Heather reads as very young and very naive. Her dream in life is to marry a Marquess, so she doesn't even see the love and loyalty that oozes from her friend Robbie.
Lots of characters mentioned from previous books, which can get confusing because everyone is related or married to someone in just a few families. It's a very small world. The book of love itself is a bit silly. It just gave Robbie and Heather excuses to be alone together.
It was a good read and enjoyable, but also a bit unremarkable.
3.5 stars
Thank you NegGalley and the publisher for an advance review copy of this book, all thoughts and opinions freely given.
This was a most enjoyable book to read. The characters were interesting and the story kept me intrigued. I had to sit and read the whole book in one sitting. Ido recommend that you read this book.
Heather had dreamed of marrying a Marquess her whole life, so when she became engaged to one she thought she was happy. However, she was given The Book of Love and promised to read it with Robbie.
Meara Platt did an outstanding job of keeping you guessing with this one. I highly recommend you read it!
I've read everything written by Meera Platt; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
The Book of Love is at it again and this time with the magnificent Scot, Robert MacLauren and Heather Farthingale! Did I mention how wonderful he was with that brogue?
Heather is all set to marry her Marquess. But you know that really goes against the Book of Love, because she has not read it to make sure she comes together with her "true love". What one thinks she wants and what she really wants gets a little mixed up.
Robbie has loved Heather since they first met. He borrowers the Book himself and that leads to him trying to convince her to read it with him. Well, you know what will happen if she does?
Meara weaves her magic again and I really want to borrow that book!
Heather Farthingale thought she knew what she wanted, to marry a title, and now she is engaged to Lord Tilbury, a marquess. Robert MacLauren has been in love with Heather since the first time he met her. Heather might have feelings for him as well, but she has never said so, nor has she read the Book of Love, which has now been passed to her. Is there a way to convince Tilbury to call off the wedding? Robert has a plan. Will it work?
This is short entertaining story with a bit of angst and a good portion of humor. I was hooked from the opening scene in the garden. I love the interaction and banter between Robert and Heather. Once again the Book of Love works its magic. I really enjoyed Heather and Robert’s story. I recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
Miss Heather Farthingale has exactly what she's wanted since she was a child. Her betrothal to a Marquess even made her parents happy. Unfortunately as soon as a certain Scot comes back to town her heart is fighting for control over her head.
Captain Robert MacLauren promised to read a certain book with Heather and he's dreading it. He has read it by himself and it confirmed what he's known all along.
Our tormented hero has a battle on his hands, one he doesn't think he should win.
A tense and worrying time is ahead for everyone. The characters are fabulous and loveable. If you have read the previous books in the series you will have met many of them before. Although you can read this on it's own.
I loved it.
The Heart of Love by Meara Platt is another in the Book of Love series. This one features Heather Farthingale and Captain Robert MacLauren in a romantic comedy with potentially miserable results. Heather has always wanted to be a marchioness and so is currently betrothed to Lord Tilbury. Robbie has been away for most of the engagement and has only returned to bring Heather the Book of Love, which they had supposed to have read together, cementing their feelings for one another. . Robbie loves Heather but he knows he cannot give her the same life she would have with the marquis. Heather doesn't realize it is Robbie she loves. She is still in love with the idea of being a marchioness. Robbie arrives after a night of drinking by falling over the wall at the home where she is staying. It takes a while and a lot of machinations before they agree that they want one another, but they only have a couple of days before the wedding.
Robbie is a Highlander and one of the best heroes in this series full of wonderful men. He is loaded with personality and is so lovable that it makes the reader want to reach out and slap Heather for being so blind. It is a thoroughly entertaining ride as the family intervenes, all working with Robbie to solve this mess. Well-written and optimistic, the story hops from one entertaining situation to another. Lord Tilbury is a nice guy, but totally stubborn about getting his own way, no matter who gets hurt. Betrothal contracts at this time were binding so simply ignoring it and running away is less than a solution, although they do consider it. This is a fun romp through a mess of their own making. I enjoyed every moment.

Charming Historical Romance
Heather has always dreamed of becoming marchioness, and nothing else will do. Her dream is about to become reality. She is engaged to a marquess, and her wedding is coming very soon. There is just one problem. Her marquess isn’t the man she loves. It is a dilemma, indeed. Can she get out of the web in which she entangled herself, or will she lose her Scot forever? Robbie has no noble blood, so what will it be, love, or nobility? I enjoyed this charming story and would recommend it to those who like lighthearted historical romance. It is sure to put a smile on your face.
When Heather Farthingale refused to read The Book Of Love with Highlander Captain Robert(Robbie) MacLauren, his only choice was to leave London with the book and return to Scotland. Heather is getting married in a matter of days to a Marquess, her dream since childhood. What she doesn't understand is why Robbie keeps trying to change her mind about the marriage since his return to London?
All he talks about is the book she needs to read with him. Besides she's found her dream, why does Robbie want her to give it up? The bigger question is why does the Marquess want to marry her? He hasn't even kissed her. Once again The Book Of Love won't be denied when it comes to finding true love. A slower pace with a young lady who wears blinders much too long.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Robert MacLauren must return the book. That dreaded, magical book to one Heather Farthingale. However, climbing the fence after a few pints of ale, was probably not the wisest decision. Heather is surprised to see the big scot tumble over the fence and smash onto a wooden bench. She treats his wounds and sends him off for help once her cousin, Violet, goes into labor.
Heather’s goal, as a young child, was to become a marchioness. But she and Robert had agreed to read and discuss the book and her uncle has ordered the two to honor that commitment. Just one problem, Heather is betrothed to a Marquess and Robert loves her.
But the Braydens and fate have something else in store for the two of them, after all the Farthingales marry for life and for love.
Robert MacLauren earned his wicked reputation as a womanizing hound, but ever since he met Heather Farthingale he’s been in love with her. He knows Heather, ever since she was little girl she’s dreamed of marring a marquess and she’s just weeks away from her dream wedding. So how to get out of reading “The Book of Love” he’s promised to read with her? Heather misses her friend Robbie, she doesn’t quite understand the feelings he invokes in her every time they’re together. She decides they definitely need to read the book and see where “The Book of Love” takes them. Are they meant to be together, why is she so drawn to Robbie when the Marquess is everything she wants in a husband? Poor Robbie is trying so hard to be a good friend, but it’s getting hard to hold back his feeling for Heather. An enchanting read as these two navigate their feeling, their friendship and a love to last a lifetime if they’re willing to take a chance. I have voluntarily read and reviewed these excellent story.
"She put magic in his heart whenever they were together."
The heart of Love by Meara Platt is live today!
Heather has always dreamt of marrying a marquess and she is betrothed to one. She begins to question his feelings for her and her friend Robbie isn't helping either. He's always around her, ready to help and soon she realizes they have mutual love feelings. They are connected with the mysterious Book of love- Heather wants to cancel the wedding with marquess but he isn't ready to finish their deal. So, lovers have to figure something out...
I really liked the story, but I wasn't familiar with other previous books so I was little lost at the beginning. I was confused about story and point of "Book of love" and I liked the meaning of it. I plan to read other books as well.
Robbie and Heather was so sweet together, conversations were well written, I loved their chemistry. Book is funny, really romantic, and actually comes with two love stories at once!
It's a CLEAN book, and even at the final chapter there wasn't much revealed.
I recommend it to read!
"There was something about this big Scot that always made her head spin."
Heather and Robert's tale is a convoluted one in which love is questionable.
With loveable and memorable characters this full length novel is a not to be missed tale.
Meara Platt has done it again.
I received a free advanced copy of this book to read.
The Heart of Love is a very entertaining book, with a good story that will sometimes make you laugh. Heather has always wanted to marry a marquess and she is now betrothed to one. She begins to question his feelings for her when she realizes he has never really kissed her or shown any real interest in her. Her dear and handsome friend Robbie, helps her to understand there is something missing from her relationship, and she discovers that in truth, it is Robbie who is in love with her. But the marquess will not let her break off the betrothal, threatening to sue her family if she does. It's a good story, and I enjoyed reading it, but near the end there is a much too descriptive love scene between Heather and Robbie that I didn't think was necessary to the story. That made the book go from a clean story to a not so clean story. Overall, it was enjoyable to read.
