Heather Farthingale has always dreamed of marrying a marquis and that dream is about to come true. She has made a brilliant match with a handsome, wealthy nobleman who is everything elegant and refined that irreverent Highlander, Captain Robert MacLauren, is not. Robert MacLauren earned his wicked reputation as a rake, and never had an interest in courtship until he met Heather Farthingale.
This is the ninth book in the series & is as fresh & enjoyable as the first, another well written, entertaining read, the characters are well portrayed & so loveable. I just loved Robbie & Heather & the journey to their HEA. Yet another book from the author which I burned the midnight oil to finish as I couldn’t sleep until I’d turned the last page.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This is the ninth book in the series so if you love series and historical romance books I think you’ll enjoy this one. Amazing characters and a captivating storyline what more could you ask for for a book. Heather Farthingale has always dreamed of marrying a Marquess and that dream is about to come true. Or are they . Everything is set. So why does the book of love keep pointing to Highland Captain Robert MacLauren and why does her heart insist on. Robbie is not a marquess and is nothing like handsome weathly refunded noble man. Will Heather choose the wealthy nobleman or will she choose Robert MacLauren. Love this series
If The Book of Love Series hasn’t snared your heart by now! Then this current one,,Heart of Love will unquestionably pierce your heart with Cupid’s Arrow!
Meara Platt is the masterful author who allows us to follow the unwrapping of her characters as they expose there deepest emotions and secrets.
Heather Farthingale has found her Prince Charming because she has always dreamed of marrying a Marquess or higher. She is so confused about why isn’t she happy about finding her true love, but she dreams of a Highlander?
Robbie MacLauren is a Scottish Highlander and in love with Heather, but her is a Rake. He claims that he has changed and will only be faithful to one lady, Heather.
The Book of Love is directing Heather towards Robbie, but Heather is fighting the magnetic attraction!
This story has some twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages!
I definitely would recommend this Series and most definitely this book to anyone wanting a fantabulous Read!
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.
This book is a light and sweet romance. It was really an easy read for me. The plot is centred basically on the romance, which is not a problem in anyway.
Heather loves the idea of being a marchioness so falling in love with captain certainly isn’t ideal.
Heather struggles between duty to her family and her heart but things become clearer the more she reads the book of love.
I loved Robbie a lot, of he wasn’t a fictional character I would have fallen for him my self. Believe me he’s that swoon worthy.
This book is 9th in the series so a lot of other couples are mentioned. I felt a bit lost at times because I haven’t read the previous books. But all in all it was a good read for me.
Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this Arc copy.
This book was very sweet. The plot, the characters, all were so easy to read and the actions from the male main character can make us melt inside because he is just that kind of good guy, the kind we are not sure exists outside of the book.
In this book, we have Heather, that has dreamed of becoming a marchioness all her life, and that dream is on her reach, if not for the fact that all her family has married for love and everyone is worried she does not love her fiance. While reading the book, I was a bit bored by the fact that that was the only thing the defined her, but it was very common at the time, so I let it go. She is very protective of her family and is in love with her male best friend but doesn't admit it, which I thought was very cool because we don't see this kind of friendship in historical romance very often. The friend, Robbie, is a sweetheart. Yes, he has a reputation. But he is also very adamant in the fact that he is only interested in Heather. He does everything he can to be with her, including helping his competition. How can I not like a man that will go that far for the girl he loves?
That said, I liked it, it was easy to read, there was not a lot of plot outside of the romance. What I will say is that this book is the 9th in a series, so a lot of other couples are mentioned, and if you are like me and have not read the other, you will be a little lost since the other couples are mentioned a lot. But if you are looking for something sweet, light, and quick to read, this is the book for you.
The books from the Book of Love series are lots of fun. In each one, a different couple gets hold of the book of love and as they read it's advice it seems to weave a magic between them that helps them to fall in love.
This time, Heather Farthingale is to marry a Marquess. It's something that she has dreamt of from when she was a little girl. The only problem is, that she seems to be falling for Captain Robert McLaren (Robbie). Her sisters have seen that she isn't in love with the Marquess and so she ends up being given the book to read with Robbie.
This is a fun little love story where our hero and heroine know that they need to be together, but have to find a way to make that actually happen. There aren't fallings-out or misunderstandings, but more that they have tried to do what they think they should, rather than following their hearts.
These books aren't particularly historically accurate, being regency style romances. If you prefer your historical romances to be accurate to the period, then this might not be for you. For a fun romance with horses and carriages, balls and beautiful dresses though, you really can't go wrong here.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Robert MacLaren was a Captain in the Grey Scots. The crown's most distinguished cavalry regiment. At present, he was the parliamentary liaison between the Scots and English. He was tall, good-looking, broad-shouldered, with blond hair, and green eyes.
Heather Farthingale watched Robbie jump over a wall and fall onto the bench by the fence. She had been walking the garden because she was going to her betrothal ball, The Marquess of Tilbury was the man she was to marry. She was very nervous and could not seem to rest. She had been entrusted with the book and he had taken it when he left town, even though she promised her sisters, they would read it together. She was only a few days from her wedding day.
A charming and delightful story about another Farthingale. She and her Marquess are kind of cool toward each other. There seems to be no passion in their relationship. I think her doubts are starting to rise in her mind. She and Robbie have passion but since she was five she wanted to Marry a Marquess. Robbie had always supported her and acted as a protector. She enjoyed looking at him and she knew she was safe with him. Wonderful Book.
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.
Robert MacLauren has loved Heather Farthingale the first time he set his eyes on her, but there was a problem. She was engaged to a marquess which was her childhood dream to marry into a title. As much as Robert wanted to steal her away, Heather had not said she had feelings for him and had procrastinated for months to avoid reading the Book of Love. She denied her feelings for Robert and instead focused on her upcoming marriage to Lord Tilbury, but is she making a huge mistake and condemning herself to a loveless marriage?
This book was so cute. I loved Robert. He was so honorable even though he loved Heather, his pixie, to distraction. She was the one for him and he'd never love another. As with the other books in the series, there are repeat appearances by many of the characters in previous books. Heather's character was young and that definitely helped with the predicament she found herself in. The author does a great job of teasing out the ending. Could Robert convince Tilbury to release Heather from their betrothal or would he suffer for the rest of his life with a broken heart?
Collateral damage in the plans for revenge and unrequited love, Heather Farthingale is in love with the idea of becoming a Marchioness. It is only when the handsome Captain Robert MacLauren falls at her feet, ostensibly to return The Book of Love to her, that Heather questions the Marquess of Tilbury's motives for asking her to marry him. Heather struggles between duty to her family and following the dictates of her heart, but the more time she spends reading the Book of Love, the clearer the picture becomes until she can no longer deny the truth set before her. I could fall in love with Robbie MacLauren myself, if he weren't a fictional character, as he has all the attributes of a swoon-worthy hero. At first Heather comes across as flighty and shallow, but as her character emerges in this story, one can only long for her to find her way through the mess that had been created. This romance is fairly lighthearted and I found myself laughing out loud a number of times, particularly during the opening and closing chapters. This well-written novel is part of a series and characters from previous books appear in this one too, but it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a delightfully happy conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
The Heart of Love is a wonderfully written regency romance story. This is ninth in the Book of Love series by Meara Platt.
Heather Farthingale and Robert MacLauren are true hearts meant to be for each other, but Heather always dreamt to marry a Marquess and Robert is only a Captain with not much to offer. The more time they spend with each other and the Book of Love the less that all matters because love wins over all.
A beauty + A Scot + the Book of Love = wonderfully happily ever after!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💋💋
Just Wow!!
These two made my heart sing and miss a beat.
Romance at its best, without a doubt.
Robbie and Heather. They are perfectly matched, tense and passionate, warm and satisfying.
This book ticks every box.
So brilliantly written, I really thought and one point this pair were not going to get their HEA.
If you want to be teased and love tension but with a bit sigh of ‘thank goodness’ at the end,
This is your book .
It doesn’t get better than this.
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review
The Heart of Love was my first book my Meara Platt. I was intrigued by the "book of love" premise. I found this to be a sweet, interesting story. I imagine my enjoyment would have been even more had I read the rest of the series leading up to this book, however, I did enjoy very much and look forward to reading more in the series.
Robbie loves his sweet pixie but he runs from his fate. Heather knows she is fighting love but she fears Robbie can't be faithful. His past keeps popping up to make her doubt him and there is the fact that is betrothed even though she knows she does not love him. Will the book of love help them find their way? Will uncovering the deception and lies of her betrothal be brought to light in time? A charming, romantic story of one man that can change his ways and fight for what he wants.
Heather and Robert fall in love but they don’t admit it is with each other. Heather accepts a nobleman’s proposal even though they don’t love each other. Will The Book of Love help them see the truth before it is too late? I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
I knew Robbie and Heather would have an interesting story. Meara did not disappoint. I'm am so glad everyone got their happy ever after. The characters were well written and it was nice to have appearances from previous characters. I look forward to meeting the Devonshire cousins.
The book of love once again works its magic to bring two people together, but they have many bumps in the road, for each have denied the love they felt for each other from the moment they saw one another. Heather has always wanted to marry a marquess, and she got her wish. Robbie fell in love with Heather, but wants only her happiness even if it breaks his heart. Heather is in more turmoil than ever, denying her heart to have a childhood dream. Robbie does not have a title and has a reputation, to which Heather brings up, for how can he be faithful if he has never been so? But when a Highlander falls in love, there is no other woman for him and Robbie has his work cut out for him if he can convince Heather they belong together. But there is more than meets the eye and more than just Heather and Robbie will be affected if this marriage takes place.
I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
