This book had me in it's thrall from start to finish. I was hanging on to every word, every twist and turn, I didn't find it nearly as predictable as most of the mystery/thrillers that flood the market now and will definitely be suggesting it to customers, friends, and family!

An excellent thriller/mystery. This was one of my favorite books by Kubica that really had me intrigued from the start. I loved the different POVs that had me trying to figure out what happened to Delilah and her mother Meredith.
I sure did not see the ending coming at all!! I’d give it 5 stars but I thought Leo’s perspective could have been more developed and the ending felt a bit rushed.
A very good book though that had me hooked!

I will be honest, I only made it about halfway through this book. I typically like thrillers, but this one was very dark, and I really struggled with many of the scenes. Definitely not one I would recommend to students--the content is way too mature. It was well-written, and I think if you have a strong constitution you would probably enjoy it because the story is interesting, but it's very intense.

This was pretty much a rollercoaster from start to finish, and nothing finished the way I thought it would! I can usually sniff out a red herring from miles away, but this book kept me guessing all the way through. My only criticism is that the back-and-forth timeline got a little messy for me when reading; sometimes we were only going back or forward a few weeks and it was a bit tricky to keep straight. I wish all my friends would read this so that we could break it down in discussion! It is an easy, fast-paced, can't-put-it-down thriller.

She’s done it again! Mary Kubica has long been one of my favorite authors. She rarely disappoints me and this book was a real winner for me. I thriller with tons of twists and red herrings, I read it in one sitting because I could not put it down. There were some ridiculous plots twists but I was willing to overlook them and just enjoy.

Mary Kubica can literally do no wrong when writing novels. This is another fantastic psychological thriller where you just don't truly know what the heck is going on. Thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title.

Mary Kubica has hit it out of the park with this twisted thriller! Truth be told, I started it in January and wasn’t sure it was for me. I was encouraged to try again by my co-worker and I am so glad I did. The author keeps the tension high throughout the book. There are two different timelines to keep track of which I didn’t find distracting and actually made you keep reading. The characters were totally believable. The storyline had so many twists and turns with an unexpected ending. Well done and deserving of five stars! #LocalWomanMissing #MaryKubica #NetGalley

Mary Kubica is the ultimate queen of suspense!
Local Woman Missing will have your heart pounding, your pulse racing, you may have to stop to take a few breathes before continuing on, and at the end of the book you will most definately have to pick your jaw back up off the floor, fix your eyes that are bulging at the disbelief when the whole story comes together and don't forget the paper bag you'll be needing to breath in to calm down!

This is probably the best Mary Kubica book I've read, and I already know it's going to be my most recommended book of the year. I see it also being a best seller and winning the goodreads best suspense book of the year! Highly, highly recommend you go get your hands on a copy asap and when you do, don't let it sit on your tbr shelf, dive into this baby, and make sure you set yourself some good amount of reading time without disturbances, once you get into this adrenaline fest of a book, it's so difficult to put down.

Thank you, thank you netgalley for letting me read this book!

The ending felt a bit like a reach...but the rest of the book was fantastic.
Told in alternating timelines (now and 11 years ago) and by multiple narrators we learn the stories of three Local Women Missing...two adults and one 6 year old. We slowly (but quickly, because this is a page turner) learn the how their stories are connected and just what happened to each of them. Of course, a red herring or two keeps you guessing right up until the ending.
There is definitely a gut punch of a moment when you realize where it all went south...and then you just have to keep going to figure out all the rest.
It was a bit slow to start as the timelines and characters are built...I had to flip back a few times to make sure I had the right narrator in the right timeline, but after I got going...IT WENT!!

Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU to NetGalley and Park Row for arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow! What a fast pace, intense read. It had the perfect premise, small town and a few mothers and daughters go missing. I have noticed that a lot of books are following the past/present outline in almost all stories. One chapter in the past and one in the present. But this book needed to have been told by that. I think I would have been upset if it wasn't written in that format!
Kubica knows just how to prey on her readers fears as this is something that has crossed my mind a number of times. It was a little tough to read at times dealing with the children, so just be aware.

Awesome job and a great read!

Mary Kubina is an incredibly masterful storyteller. I love everything she writes! This story is one that grabs you and won’t let go. Good from page one to the last sentence. A town is rocked when two women and a young girl are missing. Are the crimes related? Is the town no longer safe? Your wildest imagination won’t dream this up!

This book had me guessing until the end. Told in two timelines, going back and forth between the present and 11 years ago. Meredith is a loving wife and mother, who disappears with her daughter, leaving her husband and son. After much searching, Meredith is found, but Delilah is still missing. We find out about all of the neighborhood secrets, leading everyone to be a suspect. Or no one.....did Meredith plot this out? Very well written!

Mary Kubica is the Queen of Psychological Thrillers. There is no one in the genre who is better at crafting interesting female characters and diabolical plots full of twists and turns. That being said, I'm surprised to see so many reviews touting this newest effort, 'Local Woman Missing', as her best work. It's good. I liked it, and there's a lot going on-- never a dull moment. But there's also a lot of 'hmm, this is a huge coincidence'. The end, in particular, seems way too much of a coincidence. ***SPOILER*** How many kids are kidnapped and held for years on end?
That being said, it is still a solid book and I definitely didn't know where it was going to go, or guess any of the twists before they happened. I would recommend to fans of the genre, because even when Kubica isn't at her best, she's still pretty damn good.

I’m still gobsmacked. I was nearing the ending of the book, and I knew it was going to end soon, and I was wondering how it was going to end- and then Mary Kubica slapped me right in the face with a twist that I definitely did NOT see coming.

My jaw dropped and I gasped, and I had to check to make sure my husband didn’t wake up, because I wasn’t sure if I actually yelled the Mel B style “WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED????”

Here’s the synopsis from Harlequin:

“People don’t just disappear without a trace…

Shelby Tebow is the first to go missing. Not long after, Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter, Delilah, vanish just blocks away from where Shelby was last seen, striking fear into their once-peaceful community. Are these incidents connected? After an elusive search that yields more questions than answers, the case eventually goes cold.

Now, eleven years later, Delilah shockingly returns. Everyone wants to know what happened to her, but no one is prepared for what they’ll find…

In this smart and chilling thriller, master of suspense and New York Times bestselling author Mary Kubica takes domestic secrets to a whole new level, showing that some people will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried.”

#LocalWomanMissing is my first Mary Kubica novel, and holy shirtballs, it will not be my last.

This is a 4.5 star read, rounded up. A few things irked me, but I can’t reveal what they are just yet. :)

**Thank you so much to #NetGalley and Harlequin for providing this free eARC in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own.**

I have been a longtime fan of Mary Kubica and this is a solid addition to her list. The first part, which is from the POV of an abduction victim, is difficult to read and you really don't get a break. But I'm so glad I kept reading. After that first part, the story went down much more easily - all the way to the satisfying conclusion.

Mary Kubica is definitely one of my favorite authors and this book did not disapoint.
The story immediately immerses you in mystery. The time line goes back and forth so you need to follow that.

Wow, is all I have to say! This was a super fast read full of secrets, twists, and drama! Chapters alternated between different characters stories in the present day and 11 years before. Suspense is the name of the game here...and learning just how far some people fall in the name of self-preservation. Definitely an entertaining page turner and something I will buy for the library!

An entertaining thriller narrated from multiple perspectives, some now and some eleven years ago. As the story progresses, the pieces fall into place. It was enjoyable and had lots of unexpected twists and turns but (spoiler alert) the main twist at the end was too clever by half. Made it a bit too gothic. That said, I raced through it and read to the end.
