Sailor and Creed’s story tugged on my heartstrings from beginning to end. Abbi’s writing immediately pulled me in. This was a beautiful story layered with hurt, grief, and a second chance at once in a lifetime love.
Also, this story takes place in New England, and I always love visiting there. The imagery depicted of the region had me wanting to pack my bags and officially move there.
Overall, About Tomorrow was such a joy to read. One with ALL the feels!
Growing up the mere mention of Creed Sullivan's name and the butterflies in her tummy would start fluttering... he was the boy she wanted to give her heart to. He was the brother to her best friend, and the boy who always came to her rescue. He was her everything. When they hit their teens they were inseparable, to the point that they sometimes ignored the world around them, they were so in love with one another. But then one day tragedy struck and things between them came to a halt. The boy who was always there for her suddenly left Sailor all alone.
She found a way to move on and pick up the pieces, even finding love again, but she often still wondered about the boy who still held a piece of her heart. They haven't seen one another in six long years and all it takes is hearing is voice once to set those butterflies a flutter all over again. How can he do that? Still hold so much control over her heart when he has been absent for so many years? She is determined to keep him out though, too much time has passed, and too much damage has been done. There is no way she is letting Creed Sullivan back in again....
About Tomorrow is a heartbreakingly beautiful love story that withstands the test of time, personal growth, heartbreak, and loss. Creed and Sailor were once inseparable, meaning the world to one another, but one moment changed everything and pushed them apart. They both struggled to move on with one another, but neither knew how to come to terms with the fact that their relationship kept them from seeing things they should have. To have that kind of love and lose it was devastating to their hearts and souls, but they managed to move on... but not fully. Now they come together again in unique circumstances, and it's as if time hasn't passed at all for them, that love is still fierce and burns brightly, but their are complications they can't ignore. My heart broke for these two and all they had endured, so much pain and loss, sometimes it was almost unimaginable. Following them on their journey gave my heart a serious work-out, at times it felt like it was being squeezed by a vise and at other times it soared. It has been some time since I have read a book from this author, but it didn't take me long to remember how much I love her stories, they are the kind that are truly unforgettable. The kind that change you in ways you never thought possible, the kind that leave a mark! If you like angsty, heartstring- tugging stories then I have no doubt you will love what you find between the pages here. This one is perfectly penned and bound to wreck you in the best possible way! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Its been a while since I read a book by Abbi and I have missed her words. This one was beautifully written and full of emotion. It was raw and gritty and was an all-consuming read.
Sailor and Creed where Teenage sweethearts, they connected every summer when Sailor went to stay for the summer and she fell in love with the boy next door. Their relationship blossomed into something beautiful, not only with Creed but between Sailor and Creed's twin sister too. The trio were inseparable. When tragedy strikes Creed takes the pain out on Sailor and they end up going separate ways.
When Sailor goes to stay with her boyfriend Griff she never expected to lock eyes with the love of her life Creed again, the boy that broke her heart has now grown into one hell of a man! All the feelings they had both buried deep down over the years come flooding back and they wont be able to deny their connection or feelings again. Will they finally get a chance at their Happy Ending?
Abbi really packed this story full of emotion that seeped off the pages and embedded it under your skin. This is most definitely a must read.

About Tomorrow by Abbi Glines is a book I have been so excited for and was not disappointed. This is Sailor and Creed's story and is a beautifully written second chance romance that will grip your heart and take you on an emotional journey. I loved this book so much and highly recommend it!!!

Abbi has done it again with another steamy, emotional book! From the very beginning I was hooked on Sailor and Creed’s story with their past and the present. It begins with a brief introduction of the two during the summer when Sailor is visiting her grandma up in the north east. This particular summer is the one where Sailor and Creed’s relationship had started to evolve from a friendship to a romantic one.
The story picks up with Sailor going to visit her boyfriend in Boston while she’s one her way to move to have grandma’s house after she passed away. While Sailor is with Griff, his roommate’s cousin is someone who she tries not to think about because even though they had some good memories, he also walked away when she needed him the most.
After seeing Creed for the first time in years, it brings up so many things that she’s had to go to therapy for and learn how to cope after his sister (and Sailor’s best friend) died. Sailor has learned how to live life again without Creed and once she sees him it tilts her world off of its axis.
Once Sailor is safe and away from Creed (for better or worse) she starts to settle in to her grandmother’s house in New Hampshire during the cold months. She sees old faces that she knew during the summer months growing up and even gets a dream job at the local museum. The only thing that she didn’t expect happening was Creed moving into his parents old house right next door to Sailor’s grandma’s house.
Can Sailor and Creed build a new future together as friends or will the past constantly loom over them preventing anything new from growing? In this new book by Abbi, she delves into the lasting effects of death and how we never stop loving our first love. In this heart felt and steamy book, it will have your crying from cover to cover!
This is my favorite book by Abbi Glines so far! I’ve always been a fan of Abbi’s books. But About Tomorrow hit me in a totally different way. It is so much more than a love story. About Tomorrow is a story of overcoming the ugly in life, a past love finding you and completely changing your world all over again. I loved how Abbi told us the story of Creed and Sailor’s childhood love while perfectly weaving it into their current lives. Creed and Sailor are two perfectly crafted imperfect purely genuine characters who you cannot help but root for. This book made my soul happy, broke my heart, gave me some giggles, made me absolutely swoon, and basically experience every other emotion possible. Thank you so much for ARC opportunity, Next Step PR!

I adored these two characters! I couldn't put it down! I loved it! it kept me on the edge of my seat!
“𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙚?”
“𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚,”
This is some NA angst if I ever saw it. A story about the things in life that tragedy shapes, about first loves, second chances and the power of tomorrows.
I don’t want to say too much, simply because things are deliberately left vague.
I enjoyed this one. I think the twist was a different take on things than I was expecting, but overall, this was a straightforward story.
I love the way this author writes, her characters and the stories!
About Tomorrow is a tale about two lost souls, who once loved each other, brought together again by fate.
Abbi strikes with charm and full of feels. Sailor and Creed were the characters that hooked me from the beginning. Their chemistry driped from the pages. I adored how real they were with each other and how they understood one another so fully. They were more than I could have imagined.
Sometimes a book grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go. About Tomorrow felt vulnerable, real, emotional and enchanting.
About Tomorrow felt like home.
Oh my word. What a rollercoaster of emotions! If it wasn’t for a pesky thing like work or the day to day of being a wife and mother I would have finished this book in one sitting. I devoured it. Sweet. Frustrating. Shocking. Sexy. It was all that and more. I was truly sad to see this one end and would have happily read well into the night to keep this story going. A must read for those looking to lose themselves in a book.
This is Creed and Sailor’s story. Sailor grew up in the spotlight as her dad is a famous country singer, and her mom never carried about anyone but herself, so she spends all her summers with her gran, and her best friends which are twins Creed and Cora. Creed and Sailor grew close to each other until tragedy struck and they went in separate directions. Now 6-years later fate brings them back together, but can they have a second chance? This is a well written flawless story which is raw, gritty, and with angst, emotions, 2nd chances, and is a heart-wrenching and all-consuming read. I look forward to reading more from this talented author. There may be triggers for some readers due to the sensitive topics, so be aware.
It has been a long time since I read anything by this author and it has been very nice to return to her, to her stories that seem very common and normal, I think that is precisely what I like about her.
In this book we will meet Sailor and Creed whose youthful love is broke apart by tragedy. What happens to them leaves wounds that separate and force them to deal with pain in a different way.
Sailor has to get therapy in order to overcome what happened and move on with her studies and life. And she succeeds, or almost.
She has a life and future planned with her new boyfriend Criff who seems to be a man who has always been there for her but maybe his only mistake in their story is the little time he is dedicating to Sailor because of he's medical studies. That and the fact that Creed reappears in her present life will shake up her very planned future.
Creed has moved on, dealing with the loss and the guilt have led him down a different path and away from Sailor but seeing her again allows him a second chance, one he won't let pass.
If there is a but for this story it is that Sailor and Creed's reencounter is not clear and honest with the people around them involved, that and the almost unnecessary drama at the end have seemed to me (the latter) very surreal and I felt like I was getting lost after how beautiful and normality the story had seemed to me until then.
It is very little or compared to everything I have liked about the book that these small details do not make me stop being happy to read this author again, and I am sure that this time I will not let so much time go by to return to her.
So I do recommended this book, I love second chance romances and this here is one of them with a happy ending.
Thank you to the author, The Next Step PR and NetGalley for providing an ARC, I’m freely give my honest review.
Until the next book :)
When I think about books by this Abbi Glines I typically think of an epic series. Her newest release is a departure from that for her. As a complete standalone, About Tomorrow shines with all the brightest stars!
This awesome novel is a combination of a love triangle and a second chance romance. I have to say I was rooting for one of the couples from the get go. I refused to put this book down because I was desperate to find out if it would all turn out the way I wanted it to. Then just when I thought I could predict the ending, BAM, plot twist. And boy was it a big one. This book had me all twisted up with my ever changing emotions. I love a book that can capture your full attention and provide you with all the feels.
Not only did I love the story line but I also enjoyed just how magnificently Glines captured the magical scenery of New England. It's been years since I've been there and yet I could picture it as if I was standing on the sidewalk myself. Another must read from this wonderful author!
ARC Review
Sailor and Creed had been good friends and even better lovers in the past. He was her first in everything. That is until a tragedy happened and their ways are parted.
They meet again nine years later when Sailor and her longtime boyfriend, Griff, have to stay in his friend and cousin’s apartment until movers bring their things to her late gran’s house. That’s where she finds out Creed is the cousin of the flat mate and she’s reconciled with her first love.
After moving to her gran’s house, she later finds out Creed will be her new neighbour and he’s also very caring and helps her a lot with adjusting to new living.
I loved the story, it was full of so many cute and great scenes. And I loved how the author portrayed their relationship.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Creed shook his head with a scowl. “Son of a bitch,” he muttered. I liked Griff’s mother and she wasn’t a bitch, but I didn’t think that was the point to his cursing. I kept my mouth closed and waited.
(I- is she for real)
My rating: 3.5 ✪
“About Tomorrow...” by Abbi Glines was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020. I've been a fan of her books for eternity now, so it goes without saying I was super excited to read this one from the moment it was first announced.
That being said, the second part of this review would include my rant over Sailor (Griff, or as I kept reading his name- Cliff) and... Creed.
PART 1 (spoiler free):
I'm left with mixed feelings after finishing “About Tomorrow...”, on one hand it was written in Abbi's usual style, which means you won't be able to put the book down until you're done, but on other- it sadly lacked depth at times (often), didn't focus on the important things and failed to establish a proper connection to the main hero. I definitely think the fact the book was only written in Sailor's POV (except for the last chapter that was in Creed's POV) contributed to that, not to mention the heroine's love for the hero was indeed questionable (lust yes, love not so much, but more about it in the section that would include tiny spoilers).
PART 2 (incl. jokes for keeping my sanity intact; will discuss minor spoilers & quotes for context):
Firstly, I'm so done with Sailor(s) as main heroines for the next 10 years, first Sailor Brennan (The Hunter), now this one. # ngl I had bad flashbacks to The Hunter anytime people said the name in “About Tomorrow...”
I will begin this by saying that as much as I love the cover of “About Tomorrow...” I can't help but ask: " what does it have to do with the actual plot/story? Because for the life of me, I can't figure this out. That kind of scene (Sailor walking in the pouring rain, barefoot, wearing only tiny shorts and top, on some random road) never took place in the book, what's even worse: not only is Sailor never seen wearing anything remotely close to that, 97% of the book takes place during autumn & winter in New England with Sailor freaking freezing all the damn time and wearing the warmest clothes she can find.
I loved the winter atmosphere, the cozy outfits, why not have that on the cover...
Now, onto the real rant.
I can't say I liked Sailor as a charater: I was fine with her at the beginning but the more I read of her thoughts the more I started to dislike her and her mindset.
(For context: Creed is Sailor's first love, his twin sister killed herself so he pushed S away and never spoke to her again. Six years later Sailor has a boyfriend (Griff), who she absolutely worships for "saving her" after Creed broke her. Griff is in medical school and lives with Creed's cousin).
I'm not exaggerating when I say it felt like Sailor gushed 1000 times more about Griff and his holiness than she ever spoke about Creed, her actual love interest in this book.
Not only is she absolutely fangirling over her (ex)boyfriend anytime she can, she time & time again refused to trust Creed & always thought the worst of him. She avoided talking to him about her trust issues like the plague.
//
"That decision had been made already and Griff was no longer an option. However, I wasn’t sure Creed was either. I loved him, but I didn’t trust him."
"I knew Griff wouldn’t lie to me. There had been a female on Creed’s lap last night. Loving Creed wasn’t enough. I had to be able to trust him as much as I had trusted Griff."
(She really blindly trusted her ex, that clearly wanted to get her back & would have said anything to make Creed look bad. Creed's other cousin was sitting on his lap to keep the fangirls away because Sailor didn't go to the bar herself.)
"There was no way that he had changed his path to move in next door just to be near me. His feelings didn’t run that deep. If they had, he wouldn’t have walked away so easily. Griff had fought for me. He’d tried. Creed had done nothing. That was not a man who gave up an amazing opportunity and stayed in Portsmouth, NH."
("CREED HAD DONE NOTHING", you say? Calling people to deliver you wood for the fire? Calling people to fix stuff around your house because winter is close? Staying over on your couch because he couldn't lock your door from the outside and was worried to leave you like that while you recreated Sleeping Beauty? I could go on & on.)
//
You know the Second Lead Syndrome that sometimes happens in books/shows & the rival is actually quite likable and you understand why the heroine might go for them? Yeah, none of this applies to Griff.
Sailor would constantly talk about how good of a boyfriend he has been, how much he loves her, how perfect he is... yet all we actually see from him is Griff being super indifferent towards his girlfriend & not giving any fucks about her job/her moving to a house on her own. Sailor literally begs him to come visit her for weeks. He constantly avoids her calls & texts her one word answers. Anytime Griff would blow her off Sailor would excuse it all by telling us how he's sooo busy with medical school & how she should "get over it" and not be a "needy" girlfriend.
Even after getting together with Creed, Sailor kept ranting about Griff, her holy savior, that can never, ever do anything bad, the person that would never, ever lie to her. When Creed shared his opinion on how her boyfriend ignores her & her feelings, S immediately got angry and told us how he has NO RIGHT to judge sweet, kind Cliffy.
//
"I felt sick to my stomach. I was lusting over Creed and wanting to have sex with him again, not even considering Griff. My sweet, kind savior who loves me. I’d betrayed him. Last night I should have stopped things because of Griff. But I’d been too damn crazed to have Creed inside me to think of anything else."
“I know exactly what you thought , Creed. But no. I cheated on Griff with you. Sweet, kind, loving Griff who would move mountains for me. I chose you. Not my brightest moment,”
(At this point I honestly wanted to slap the ish out of Sailor.)
//
Remember how Sailor keeps insisting she absolutely CAN'T TRUST Creed? All because he used to go out with random women when he was SINGLE? Yet, here she is actively cheating on her sweet, kind Cliffy with "trashy" Creed. What a downgrade poor Creed is.
Wanna know what was the last straw?
After being together with Creed for weeks she finally went to his show in a bar & once Griff showed up there all drunk & tried to publicly humiliate her & Creed by making a scene and asking crude things, Sailor actually had the audacity to get angry at Creed for hitting the douche.
When Cliffy conveniently passed out from the booze and being punched to Mars and back, our great heroine decided to go home with the cousin & Griff, so she can "keep watch" while he sleeps in case he got a concussion.
And she just expected Creed to get over that. To just be okay with her choosing to go watch her ex sleep, all worried for his health.
Oh, and Creed's cousin also took Griff's side. So loyal, my man.
My problem with the writing:
The second part (starting around 56% or so) of the book felt so rushed, Sailor went from gushing over Griff to cheating on him out of the blue. There was no bild up of tension between her and Creed, no close calls, they simply hooked up at one point and kept doing it from that moment on despite her already being in a relationship. Sailor would go from feeling like trash for cheating (calling herself "a cheating slut") to being too horny to care.
I was desperately hoping for chapters from Creed's POV just so I can get a break from Sailor's brainwashed ramblings about Griff and actually see what kind of person the hero is. Sadly, all I got is one chapter from when he was young at the very end when nothing mattered much anymore & Sailor was already on my sh*t list.
When it came to conflicts, “About Tomorrow...” had none. I refuse to count painfully obvious red herrings about Creed cheating as conflicts. Towards the end I couldn't understand how and WHY Creed suddenly slipped into the role of the reckless hero that gets drunk the moment the heroine upsets him so he thinks he sould go for a ride while shit-faced.
I wish we saw more of Sailor & Creed being a couple, doing anything else outside of the bedroom. There were so many possibilities, like them spending Christmas together. Anything to show us that what they have is love and not just lust.
“About Tomorrow...” is a book that had potential and still sucks you in despite the infuriating characters. The heroine's love for the hero is absolutely questionable, she's more obsessed with her ex and how perfect of a boyfriend he was. It's all she can think and talk about. Sailor never sees anything wrong with Griff despite him ignoring her, insulting her and provoking Creed. The hero is always the one that can't be trusted, always the one that has no right to get jealous or judgy.
I would only recommend this book if you have nerves of steel, aren't bothered by cheating & heroines that beg to be yeet-ed off this Earth.
I wanted to love this book so badly.
I thought this was okay. There were parts that really grabbed me -like the chemistry between Sailor and Cade, and the addictive angst. But I dont think the dual timeline was very effective here, yes it gave of glimpses of their past romance to help inform their shared history but there just wasn't enough to be impactful. I also think the final tension shot before the resolution was such a lazy gimmick and just made me roll my eyes instead of being invested in the story.
Abbi Glines delivers a tragic story about second chances and lost soulmates while exploring a new setting. As always, I loved her writing immediately. There is something comforting about it, but she still brings the passion and the drama I crave.
Sailor and Creed's story was absorbing. Not having Creed's point of view added mystery to the plot. For the first half of the book, I wasn't sure what he wanted. I truly believe Creed and Sailor are soulmates, but they experience some hurtles as they reunite and both will have a lot of work to do to make a relationship work.
The setting was unique to me and well developed by the author. The descriptions of New England in the fall were cozy, yet still added to the atmosphere of loneliness surrounding Sailor. I enjoyed this new standalone romance.
I am honored to have received an ARC in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.
Rating: 4⭐️
Thank you to The Next Step PR team that gifted me an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I’ll admit this wasn’t my favourite of Abbi Gline’s books, but it was fine for a quick romance. It was very short so I read it one sitting which is always nice. I thought it was very cliche and resolved very quickly. The issues only lasted a chapter/ a day and then everything was back to normal in the next chapter/ next day. It was your typical friends to lovers romance that had its cliches with a burdened shared past and the current relationship issues, the leaving of the parter for the childhood sweetheart. There were some steamy scenes which were good. While I enjoyed the story, it could’ve been better.
I also think for how short the story actually is (185 pages) Cora’s suicide was mentioned a lot and wasn’t integrated fully. It was just sort of mentioned as a reminder. We weren’t told what actually happened to her until the end of the book so it was very repetitive and a little annoying to be told almost every other chapter about it.
Overall it wasn’t a horrible story, just very cliche and very short.
Trigger warnings: suicide, cheating, mention of rape, drunk driving, drowning, fighting, drug abuse
