I love a good cookbook (especially one with great pictures) and this is a good cookbook! I really enjoyed Antoni's first book and was excited to see what he does next and he is did not disappoint. Creative and yummy recipes with clear and easy to follow instructions make me feel like I could really create these WOW dishes at home.

Antoni always makes for a good time. His recipes are approachable but challenging enough to make you feel like a proper chef. I will say however that his cookbooks have a bit of a photo album feel.

So honored to receive an ARC of this cookbook because it is a piece of art! The recipes, pictures, and hand-lettered fonts are gorgeous! After being in Covid lockdown for over a year it’s nice to finally be able to explore food again and this book has started a new flavorful journey. I am re-learning to enjoy food again! This cookbook is just a breath of fresh air with it’s fun and delicious dishes. The vegetarian dishes are hearty and full of flavor and make it easier to incorporate more plant based dishes into my week!
Recipes are laid out nicely with little intros to each one. Serving sizes are listed but not approximate cook times. I don’t normally have very many of these ingredients as staples in my pantry, but wouldn’t mind planning out a few special meals and shopping especially for that. I feel like much of this book is an intermediate to advanced cooking skill level. If you’re a beginner, I think you could handle it, just prepare yourself beforehand and familiarize with the recipe. Even a slow cooker meal includes cooking bacon and browning chicken before starting the slow cooker!
Salmon and spinach rice bowl with green tea broth, coconut cauliflower Korma, and mashed potatoes with fries (aka my lockdown diet) were some of my top favs! You can tell a lot of thought and care went into each recipe and I, for one, am grateful. Keep creating AP!!!!

Antoni was my fave in the show, and I didn't really understand the backlash he got for teaching people beginners' recipes. This book is a great introduction to more complex meals but also easy enough for people who don't cook much. I love Antoni's point of view about flavors and have truly enjoyed so many of his recipes. Great book with great and easy recipes. I also loved the celebrities' sights. Overall a fun cooking book.

I am a huge fan of the Queer Eye revival, so when I saw Antoni’s Let’s Do Dinner I knew I had to give it a try. The book is very well-organized, and the pictures of the food jump right off the page. It makes you want to cook! The foods were very diverse and a wide variety, with a play on many different international cuisines. Most of the recipes were too advanced for me, which is disappointing, but I think more advanced cooks will enjoy this book. I am excited to try a few of these recipes, and I will update my review depending how they go. 4 stars.

I received a free digital ARC from NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in exchange for an honest review

This cookbook is gorgeous. I love cookbooks that include pictures for each recipe, and this one does not disappoint. The section titles were in a font that was a little difficult to read, but with titles like "Carb Comas" for the pasta section, I could not be too upset.

I am excited to try more recipes from this book, especially the many plant-based recipes.

The few qualms I did have were the authors obsession with peas (I truly do not understand, but I am also allergic so that might just be it), the "pierogi" recipe (although he did include a disclaimer for how it is not truly a pierogi recipe), and the strange cultural appropriation in his Polish Banh Mi. It sounds like a delicious recipe, and I will probably try it next, but why exactly did he call it a Banh Mi? I am probably reading too much into that, though,

Overall I would recommend this cookbook!

First off, I don't know how to review a cookbook!
This book has a lot of easy reciepes that people have heard off. Antoni doesn't brag about being good at cooking, instead he takes you into your own kitchen to spice up things you are familiar with. For me dinner is the most important meal off the day, it gathers my whole family, so for Antoni to make meals that are easy and quick and that brings family together, it doesnt get better

Antoni: Let's Do Dinner is a recipe guide and cookbook dedicated to pared down weekday meals by Antoni Porowski. Due out 14th Sept. 2021 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, it's 272 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

I confess to being a (not obsessive) fan of Queer Eye and have enjoyed the clips I've seen; I don't watch much TV at all, but I did have a vague idea of who the author was before reviewing the book. This is in style with the down-to-earth casual but stylish vibe. The advice is sensible and emphasizes planning a little ahead and having a well stocked fridge and freezer. There is an included suggested pantry list with staples for cabinets, fridge, freezer, and countertops. The ingredients are widely available and reasonable and most of them will already be available in the moderately well stocked kitchen.

The recipes are grouped roughly thematically and include a generous number of plant based options for meatless meals. (Reviewer aside: the falafel salad with yogurt-tahini dressing is outstanding and very easy to make). Recipes have their ingredients listed in a sidebar, bullet point style. Ingredient measures are given in American standard units only, followed by step by step instructions. Alternative ingredients and presentations are abundant and interesting. Nutritional info is not included.

The photography is spectacular; clear and abundant. In the advanced publication version provided for review, all the recipes are accompanied by color photos - many of them have more than one. Serving suggestions are appetizing and appropriate and I loved the casual food styling throughout. The dishes looked realistic and very tasty.

I always read intros, author's notes, and acknowledgements and I have to say that I smiled reading the gently humorous, humble, and sweetly written thank-yous at the beginning of the book from Antoni and Mindy. I haven't figured it into my overall rating of the book, but it was very nice to read.

Five stars. This would be a perfect choice for casual family dining, or for newly fledged young adults living on their own. The ingredients are reasonable and the dishes are healthy and nutritious and don't take a ridiculous amount of time to prepare.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Already tried making 4 of the recipes in this cookbook and looking forward to making more. Easy recipes & quick to create something tasty for dinner. I already own Antoni’s first cookbook so maybe I’ll get this one too when it’s officially published! Yum.

It was great to see that Antoni gives alternatives for some recipes, like I’m very picky about veggies so he suggested others that work just as well (and that I like better). A lot of the recipes can also be made vegetarian too!

I liked the introduction and that he provides his list of “pantry basics” which ended up being used in a lot of the recipes-it helped provide a good base for what we would need on hand! Most of the recipes required a little more effort and ingredients compared to the last cookbook I used, so that was a motivational struggle at first haha!

This was a hard one to review because I love Antoni and had such high hopes on loving his cookbook but compared to other cookbooks I’ve used, this isn’t a favorite. I’m not sure if I’d want to go back to remake most of these recipes, they weren’t terrible but also didn’t leave a lasting impression. The flavor combinations were some I didn’t think of and I might use some “minor” things in the future, like the sauce for the cauliflower fritters.

Overall with this book I think it’s just not for me, it’s more high effort and ingredients/tools (ie crumbled blue cheese, ground lamb) that I can’t always access here. Plus being a picky eater didn’t help…

I liked this cookbook, but there were a few things that I didn’t love. I know the chef is famous and that’s bound to be a selling point for the book, but honestly, we don’t need that many pictures of him. Besides that, these recipes have a lot of ingredients, and many are quite unique, so I don’t think this is a great cookbook for your day-to-day meals. It’s better for when maybe you want to try something new, or you’re having some family and friends over for a meal and you want something special. The instructions are clear, and I didn’t have any trouble following along as a tried a few recipes, but I would have liked some pictures illustrating the different steps, because that’s very useful when it comes to cooking something new. Sandwiches & Cousins and Carb Comas were probably my favorite chapters.

I have an unhealthy obsession with #QueerEye and while Jonathan is my favorite, I am admittedly madly in love with Antoni.

For fans of Antoni and newcomers, this amazing collection of photos and recipes is incredible and features some shared recipes from fellow celebs like Gigi Hadid. This one is as fun and tasteful as Antoni himself.

I’m a Queer Eye fan who’s also obsessed with cookbooks and trying new recipes, so Antoni Porowski’s Lets Do Dinner is exactly what I needed.

I really appreciated his playful takes on classic dishes and all the fusion he brings by adding Greek, Indian, Japanese, Canadian, and Polish elements to his recipes.

He points out the fast recipes from the collection as well which is a great thing to have on hand for a busy weeknight. There are quite a few recipes that I can’t wait to try, especially the “lazy” pierogi, the Sheet Pan chicken with rosemary and grapes, the Polish take on Banh Mi, and the veggie-based dinners that seem very hearty and filling.

I look forward to cooking my way through this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and HMH for the digital ARC.

A fabulous cookbook filled with recipes I would use frequently. It's a nice addition to your shelf or coffee table and would be a great gift for someone looking to get into healthy eating without being overwhelmed.

I loved the recipes in Antoni’s first cook book, and my sentiment continues with this one. It’s not only the recipes that sets this cook book a part, but the style of writing that adds to the experience as a whole.

I’m still going through all the recipes but the ones that I’ve tried (farfalle with almond basil pesto and zucchini pasta) are going to enter into my weekly dinner rotations.

However, the only thing that I would change would be the formatting of this cookbook. As I read it as an ebook, sometimes the font was too light or the placement of text was harder to follow as instructions. But, this was so minimal I would honestly recommend to this cookbook to anyone.

Antoni's second cookbook is just as beautiful as his first. The book is broken into several different categories, one of which is devoted to eggs (YUM!). I'm in love with the Oozy Egg and Sausage Sandwich with Melty Cheese and Giardiniera (although I did have to make some adaptions since I can't have pork or gluten). The Lamb Burgers with Cilantro Chutney are also amazing! I noticed some other reviewers mentioned that the ingredients were hard to find/not normal pantry staples. While that may be true for some people, I found that most of the pantry ingredients were things I normally stock or I could easily make substitutions. I also plan my menus at least a week ahead of time so I didn't have any issues with the recipes being too time consuming for a weeknight meal. I do come home every day for lunch and have gotten into the habit of prepping my dinners then. If you have a very limited time to make dinner and don't want to do any prepping ahead of time, you may want to save the recipes for the weekend.

What a perfect cookbook!

This beautiful book, the second to be presented by Antoni Porowski, our favorite foodie from Queer Eyes Fab Five, is packed with recipes for easy and healthy dinners for the work week, featuring “Big” Salads, Vegan and Meatless meals, and Eggs For Dinner, as well as a beautiful selection of higher carb comfort food (Pasta!), perfect for weekend splurges. Separate chapters are also provided showcasing delectable Seafood, Poultry, Red Meat recipes, as well as Pasta, Snacks and Sides, and lovely food to be shared “On a Cold and Rainy Night”.

Like having dinner with a good friend, this book is comforting, cheerful, and celebratory - many recipes have multiple gorgeous full page photos and each recipe is graced with simple, clear and concise instructions, all based on easily accessible ingredients.

Although I marked almost every single recipe in this book as a “to-try”, some of my absolute favorites, along with the sections they appear in, are listed below:

1. Big Salads - Lean protein with delicious greens and special ingredients, the recipes in this section are as beautiful as they are healthy and delicious.

- Sicilian Tuna Salad with Oranges and Beets
- Sweet Pea Falafel Salad, with Yogurt-Tahini dressing - (In an interesting twist the falafel uses canned chickpeas and chickpea flour as well as frozen peas).

2. Vegan and Meatless Meals - Gorgeous soups, stews and plates featuring veggies and legumes, quinoa, and tofu.

- White Bean and Cauliflower soup with Herby Oil- (Almost a stew, this looks mouth-watering!)
- Chili Roasted Winter Squash with Lentils, Lime and Arugula

3. Break an egg - A wonderful assortment of frittatas, polenta, omelets and more.

- Cheesy Polenta with Eggs, Mushroom and Thyme - (Poached eggs nestled in creamy herbed polenta with mushrooms)
- Masala Spinach Omelet - an open faced lightly Indian spiced omelet

4. Sandwiches - Includes hand-held favorites like beef, pork or lamb burgers, burritos, and pita pizzas

- Chicken and bean burritos with spicy pineapple slaw

5. Comfort food (carb) - pasta!

-Rigatoni alla Vodka, with Chicken
-Lemon Spaghetti with Toasted Walnuts and Parsley

6. Seafood
-Grilled swordfish and veg with citrusy salt.
-Scallops with burst cherry tomatoes and corn

7. Poultry
-Sheet Pan Chicken with Rosemary and Grapes
-Chicken Rice Bowl with Chili Mayo and Ginger

8 Red Meat
-Strip Steak with Harissa Butter and Parsley Salad
-Smokey Bean and Sausage Ragout

9. Cold and rainy nights
- The Best Damn Nachos
- Cheese Fondue (with good things to dip!)

10. Snacks and Sides
- Sweet Potato Wedges

Antoni: Let's Do Dinner is perfect for people who want to cook something a little fancier without having to spend hours and lots of money to do it! The cookbook breaks different dinner ideas down into multiple sections like salads, egg-based dinners, different meats, and my personal favorite, "carb comas." Each recipe that I tried took less than an hour, if that, and was made of unique but still easy to find ingredients. One recipe, Chicken Paillards with Caper-Butter Sauce, uses capers, which I had never heard of until this book. Not only was that recipe delicious, it was quick, easy, sounds super cool, and I learned about a new ingredient. Antoni has a knack for flavor combinations, and these recipes are no exception. There are still plenty of recipes from the book I am raring to try, including mashed potatoes with fries. The minute I saw that recipe I knew I was going to love anything I tried to make from the book. Someone who suggests doubling down on potatoes for dinner is someone that I fully trust when it comes to food. Therefore-I fully trust Antoni Porowski and his recipes.

Thank you to Netgalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received Antoni: Let's Do Dinner as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

Known as the "food guy" on Queer Eye, Antoni Porowski shares some of his favorite quick and easy dinner recipes that still pack a punch. The recipes themselves are fairly accessible, but may occasionally contain ingredients with which novice chefs may not have a lot of hands-on experience. Having the name recognition that he does, the presentation is first-rate, with beautiful graphics and photography. I appreciate his focus on vegetables, which always appeal to me, though there are plenty of creamy chicken and pasta dishes to satisfy heartier appetites. All in all, a nice array of accessible recipes. If you're grabbing this off the shelf based purely on name recognition, you could do a lot worse.
