I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. If you are into Hallmark movie style plots then you will like this book. Perfect for a weekend read.
This is a quick story that has a bunch of wonderful people in this little town. I enjoyed the town coming together to improve so many lives. This is a sweet, clean romance.
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
This is a sweet, clean story around Christmas in Mistletoe Meadows. Char is the local veterinarian who wants to do more good and has come up with the idea of using an old abandoned building in town as a homeless shelter. She wants to call it Gingerbread House. Her first attempt to convince the city council fails to gain approval. When she teams up with Jonas, a local who is a made-for-TV-movie star, they try and show the town how important this is to those who are struggling and that being homeless doesn't mean they are drug addicts or crazy people. It means it can happen to anyone in the blink of an eye when their circumstances change.
Jonas and Char had been friends when they were younger and spent four wonderful summers together but they each went their separate ways and hadn't kept in touch. Now, it's many years later and they are back in town at the same time. Is it possible to rekindle the sparks that had begun to develop when they were teenagers or would they forever remain in the friends stage and nothing more?
I enjoyed this story and it was a very quick read. It has a happy ending and give the reader all the wonderful feelings of a good wholesome romantic story.
I was given this arc and I willingly offer my honest review.
A sweet Christmas romance that I even enjoyed reading in February and not during the Christmas seaons.
3.5/5
A cute little Christmas romance especially in these times of doom and gloom. If you like Hallmark movies this is your type of book. Weeks writing is light and easy to follow and I love the movie star thrown in. My only issue is it dragged a bit and quite predictable but I do know that’s what I should expect for these type of books.
A beautifully written romance. Great plot, believable characters and a great setting. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
A quick book to read over the Christmas holiday. It was interesting and had a story about homeless people as well as a romantic meeting of old friends. I was not disappointed and would recommend that you read this book.
Stacey is a new author for me. I enjoyed reading Mistletoe Movie Star. The storyline is heart-warming, entertaining, wonderful characters, romantic, inspirational, easy to read, tragic and happily ever after.
Charlene aka Char is a veterinarian out to save all the animals that she comes across and Jonas is an actor from a small town and grows mistletoe on his property.
Char and Jonas are friends from high school and they meet again when Char is in a car accident and Jonas comes to her rescue.
Char meets three young girls, they are homeless and she is on a mission to protect them. Jonas spots a little boy and he running to an old abandon hotel that he and Char want to renovate to take in the homeless and down on your luck individuals. Char and Jonas have a big heart and enlist others from the small community to help out with the renovation of the old hotel where they will be able to help people of the community. This was such a great ideal.
This is a great second at romance for Jonas and Char and great short Christmas story to read.
Thank you netgalley for giving the opportunity to add another author to my list of books to read.
I thought this was a good quick holiday story about a two people who knew each other during their summers at Mistletoe Meadows when they were teenagers. All grown up Charlene is back in Mistletoe Meadows to take over her aunt and uncle's vet clinic and wants to help the homeless population find a better place for the winter. Then Jonas comes back to Mistletoe from LA after wrapping up his latest Christmas Holiday Channel movie to sell his grandfather's Christmas Tree Farm. When they meet back up things happen. I also love how this book sheds a light on the homeless in a positive way.
Mistletoe Movie Star is one of those feel good short stories. I always like a bit more character depth and connection between the characters I read. This story was cute but not long after arriving to town, the male in the story is already proposing to the lead female. The insta love for me is just too unbelievable.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very sweet inspirational romance that is not afraid to deal with some tough topics. Normally I dislike short novellas because I don't find the rushed storyline appealing and satisfying. This was in no way dissatisfying. A perfect read for the upcoming holiday.
I recommend this book for ages 13+ for mentions of death and child homelessness.
I was given a copy of this book via NetGalley for my honest review.
A fun, Christmas holiday read that makes you want to have a small town holiday. I enjoyed that this was a second chance romance, I find those work better for these kind of story lines. The chemistry and love between the characters shine at the end. This is definitely going on my re read yearly list.
This book wasn't for me. I was looking for a fun and fast Christmas read and I just couldn't get into this one. What a bummer.
I was looking forward to reading this christmassy novella, but unfortunately it just was not for me. I found the writing style was all over the place and it was quite difficult to follow allow with what was happening in each chapter, and then each chapter jumped to a different time frame. This book had great potential but unfortunately did not follow through.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary copy of Mistletoe Movie Star by Stacey Weeks. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book, and my opinions are my own. No one has influenced them in any way.
Mistletoe Movie Star is a heartwarming Christmas tale with endearing characters and a great Christian message, along with a great plot. The pacing pulled me into the story from the first page to the last. From the community who unite for the good of their town, to the three homeless girls, the secondary characters added greatly to my overall enjoyment.
Charlene’s character had me from the first page. My heart melted when she has a litter of abandoned kittens in her vehicle that has landed in a ditch. She’s a veterinarian of all animals, big or small, and her heart is as wide as the ocean. She takes in three abandoned young girls when she learns they’re living on their own. She’s a character that will steal one’s heart.
Jonas Blade is the hunky hero with a sweet side that pulled me into the story right away. He’s made his name as a movie star of heartfelt Christmas stories. He’s arrived in Mistletoe Meadow to handle the estate of his grandfather, and when he discovers the woman he helped his first night in town, was no other than his Char from his youth.
The romance between Char and Jonas is sweet and wholesome. They know each other from their school days, and were best friends who grew apart since neither of them lived in Mistletoe Meadows. Each visited family each summer. When they meet again, the affinity they had in their youth is as strong as it was back then. I truly wanted them to find a way to be together.
If you enjoy Christmas inspirational romances with a great cast of characters, and a plot that will touch your heart, then you will love Mistletoe Movie Star as much as I did. I’ve already downloaded the first two books in this series and can’t wait to read them. Happy reading!
If you’re looking for a short Christmas story to get you in the holiday spirit, this is the book for you. A great read for those who are looking for a heartwarming story that gives you a sense of community in a time when we are feeling so isolated. This is just what I needed during 2020.
Summary
The protagonist Charlene, nicknamed Char, is the hometown vet at Mistletoe Meadows. She is saved by her old friend Jonas who is back in town to take care of his grandfather’s estate. Char, on top of taking care of animals and pets in the town, feels this calling to do something bigger with her life. She proposes to build a homeless shelter, she calls the Gingerbread House, at their local town meeting. The town council dismisses her proposal and the notion that their nice town has homeless people. With the town committee oblivious to the homelessness, Char and Jonas set out on a journey to make Gingerbread House a reality.
Setting
The description of the setting was my favorite part of the book. The opening scene describes driving in a snow storm down to a tee. The decreased visibility, how headlights make seeing in snowy weather worse, fishtailing, deciding which roads would be recently plowed. Perfect.
A side note, I Googled Mistletoe Meadows to see if it was a real town. I couldn’t find a town; however, there is a Christmas Tree Farm in North Carolina called Mistletoe Meadows. This tree farm just like our deuteragonist, Jonas’ grandfather’s tree farm, specializes in Christmas trees and spreading Christmas spirit. This is just a theory and it could all be a big coincidence but it makes me happy nonetheless.
Notes to the Reader
As a heads up, this is very much a Christian Christmas story. There were quite a few quotes from the bible and numerous references to the Lord. This is my first Christian romance book. I’m not a religious person so the religious aspect was very noticeable to me but still enjoyable.
Also, don’t let the category of Romance dissuade you, the romance is minimal. I loved how sweet the interactions were between Char and Jonas. The romance was PG but sometimes that makes those tender moments all the more precious. The author uses subtle little moments between the characters such as admiring glances, nervous reactions towards each other, and the unspoken chemistry to describe Char and Jonas’ unspoken love for each other.
Final Thoughts
At first I thought this was going to be more of a Hallmark Christmas which I think the author drew inspiration from; however, the story had much more depth than just the love story. Mistletoe Meadows is a heartwarming story that has depth behind it. I can’t emphasize enough how much a feel good story and how it brightened my day to read about characters making a difference in their community. Perfect for the holidays.
Disclosure: I received an ebook copy of this book from the Pelican Book Group through NetGalley, this is my honest review.

I am reviewing a copy of Mistetoe Movie through Pelican Book Group and Netgalley:
The town of Mistletoe Meadows is a place built around the magic of Christmas. As jingling sleighs cart rosy cheeked lovers around the Mistletoe Mile, Charlene’s holiday dream is more complicated than photo-edited perfection. After proposing compassion ministry initiative called the Gingerbread House, but she struggles to convince the town that their need for a homeless shelter is real.
Jonas, famous for his made for his made for T.V holiday movies, is longing for his own happily ever after, one that isn’t as neat and tidy as his scripted films. He decides to partner with Char to champion her ministry invigorates him with a new purpose and provides an excuse to spend time with the girl he never forgot. But after they embrace three young sisters fighting to stay together while living on the streets, their project becomes deeply personal.
Jonas and Charlene must prove to a town reluctant to see anything other than holiday perfection that the greatest gift of the season isn’t found under a tree.
If you are looking for a heartwarming Christmas read, I recommend Mistletoe Movie Star.
I give Mistletoe Movie Star five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
Jonas is a movie star that comes back to Mistletoe Meadows. He is there to settle his grandparents farm. Char is the town vet, who knew Jonas when they were teenagers. This book deals with the homelessness in the town and the plight of families who are struggling. Especially three sisters, who Jonas and Char help. This book is more of a short and easy read. The story is about hope and faith. Thank you NetGalley and Pelican Book Group for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and Pelican Book Group for kindly providing me with a digital copy of this book for review.
This is a very quick Christmassy novella that focuses on a friend’s to lovers theme. The female lead character is a veterinarian, which is what attracted me to the story as I am a veterinary nurse by profession, and the male lead is a movie actor.
This short book manages to pack in quite a bit though as it explores issues like homelessness and adoption also. I do think that it could have been expanded on a bit so it wasn’t such a whistle stop tour, but if you’re looking for a quick faith based story to read over the festive season, this is well worth your time. 3.5 stars
