The second installment of Allison Brennan's Kara Quinn/Matt Costa Series picks up close to where the first one left off... and with her foot fully on the pedal, readers are in for a wild ride. With Kara undercover as a bartender, Matt directs his team in what is looking like an illegal dumping case... but it turns out to be so much more. The relationship between Matt, Kara, and the rest of the team is very authentic - strong dialog and strong feeling towards both each other, and justice. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait until Ms. Brennan takes Matt and Kara on another wild ride!

This second book in the Quinn & Costa Thriller series is very good. The team discovered there were multiple layers to the crimes and contributing to their case. The characters were well depicted, and very realistic. There were a lot of characters in this book, and I sometimes had a hard time remembering where someone fit in. I could have done without the foul language that did not add to the story. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

A good story that keeps moving with few slow spots. The characters are numerous, but well developed. My only complaint is with some of the language.

This is a character driven mystery by an author who intrigueds. However these characters are not really likeable and the story is sometimes difficult to follow with so many characters. The language should be left out/it is not needed...I don’t understand why authors insert bad language at opportune times anyway. This author is usually entertaining,,
But this one is a miss.

Tell No Lies is the second book in the series featuring Detective Quinn and FBI Agent Costa. I recently read the first book and thought it was a promising start and was interested to see what would happen next.

I am happy to say that Tell No Lies was an even better read for me, improving upon some of the minor irritations I had in book one. I thought that this book was more balanced at providing insight into why the characters thought/acted a certain way while thankfully also being much less angsty. I still don’t think that the romantic element is necessary as it does not add to the book in my opinion, but it was at least less of a focus in Tell No Lies.

I was happy that we got to know more about the FBI mobile unit team members. I enjoyed seeing Michael’s perspective and would love to see more from Ryder or Jim in the next books. As much as I enjoy seeing the different perspectives, it did seem a bit repetitious at times because we would receive multiple explanations for the same thing such as when Matt and Kara both explained Jim’s role on the team and why he was currently in Dallas about 10 chapters apart with very similar language.

I thought the mystery itself was interesting, it had several layers to it and kept you engaged as the facts began to reveal themselves. There were elements that were predictable, but I still found myself unable to put the book down and reading late into the night to finish and find out what happened. I definitely will plan on continuing this series when book three comes out.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin for providing me this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
