As the subtitle tells us, this book is about “innovations that changed the world” and they all happened in Boston, USA. The author profiles 50 world-changing innovations from telephones to transplants and informs us that Boston and area inventors have contributed to more than 400 social, scientific and commercial innovations, a figure that will no doubt ignite a warm glow in the hearts of Bostonians. A fun read.
I think it would be better to call this book "Massachusetts Made" as a number (around 10) of the items, people, inventions, or concepts discussed came from another place than Boston. It does those people and their work a disservice never mind the fact that there are other towns and cities in the state.
The intro was long and dry, but the writing in the individual vignettes was fine.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest opinion.
