What a wonderful follow on from the first book in The Bridal Shop series, Save the Date. This is the story of Harley and Joey and they have chemistry that bounces off the pages. It’s a really fun, short read, highly recommend this series.

This was a lovely, quick little read. When I finished the first book in the series I had hoped to get more of Harley and Joey, and this did not disappoint! I wish it had backed up to their meeting but that’s just me and probably would’ve slowed the story down. In any case, I’m a huge fan of Insta love and these two were just so cute together! This was a very enjoyable read and a great addition to the series!

ARC received by publisher via NetGalley for an honest review!

In be my Valentine you meet Harley and Joey, who I promise you will make you fall in love with their relationship. I love the way the author introduce them and how she portrayed their love.

At first I had my doubts about this book but they quickly went away as I started reading, slowly I started getting hooked and couldn’t let go of this book.

So I loved it and hope to read more by this author!

This was a cute love story about a girl and her best friend's brother. I enjoy this trope so much and could not wait to get into this story by R.J Groves. She is a new author to me and her style of writing was just ok for me. I found this book to be very repetitive. Our lead character Harley is not what you would call body-positive. She constantly second guesses everything that the handsome sailor Joey does. He cant even give her a compliment without thinking to herself that she doesn't deserve it. He is in love with her from the get go so its kind of frustrating that they keep second guessing every few pages. This is a pretty clean love story. The sex is vaguely descriptive and fades out and brings you back to the couple afterwards. Be My Valentine is a book I could add to my bookshelf without fear of my daughter finding it. An overall cute story but predictable and the repetition was not for me.

Joey was in Navy and Harley worked on a bridal shop who's also bestfriend of Joey's sister, Andie. Joey met her when he was on a leave and both of them liked each other. Harley didn't hear anything from Joey for a long time which made her think that he wasn't interested in her. But Joey surprised her by coming on her birthday which also happened to be Valentine's Day too. They spent their time together. There was some drama but everything was okay and Joey left when his leave was over. Then came back when Andie was getting married and decided to retire as his ship was decommissioned. He proposed to Harley. The End.

There's nothing much to say. It's clear I didn't like this book. It's a short story. The book style (pdf) was awful too. It was hard to read on my phone. I'm really disappointed.

A sweet sexy short romance like this one might be just the ticket if you’re looking for a light Valentine’s Day. Set in Perth and Margaret River, Be My Valentine stars bridal shop assistant Harley Smith and her best friend’s brotherJoey Gray, who’s a sailor in the Navy. These two have lusted after each other for nearly a year while he is on deployment but since he has stopped messaging her Harley is ready to move on. I liked that he turned up on her doorstep on her birthday and that he’d been thoughtful enough to get her a gift. Joey brought romance into Harley’s life with both his generosity and his easy charm. He struck me as a likeable character. Harley seemed a little flatter and less well developed. Initially I thought she was a silly little girl, but she grew on me. I felt that these two fell into bed and into love a little too quickly but they get away with it because they’ve known each other so long. The plot could have moved a little quicker and had a little more conflict but despite this I thought was a sweet Valentine story.

This was a fun, cute story of Joey and Harley. Joey has made the Navy his career until he started having feelings for his sister's friend Harley, who works at Bride and Beau.

It was cute that Valentine's Day and Harley's birthday were both on February 14th This book focused a lot on crossroads and career changes, life, and love. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Unrequited?

Harley has been hung up on Joel, her friends brother and a sailor.
Joel is a bit jaded and not prepared for the complications Harley brings.

Recommend.

I received this arc from Escape publishing for an honest review.
I found this story to be a fast read about Haley who is a seamstress at a local biradial store and Joey who is in the Navy. Joey is the brother of Haley’s best friend who also lives next door to her. They met when he came home on leave and thought they were keeping in touch she has not heard from him in a while, so she now thinks that he has moved on as other men have in her life. Not that she has had many.
Joey who has never put in for leave has done so again and is being teased by his shipmates which is common among guys. What happens next is he shows up one morning at her door and they fall into each other’s arms. When he wants her to take off for the next week she, no, but then the store is broken into and they are able to go away for a week. There they get to know each other and soon before they leave, they have a tiff over him going back to the Navy. She wonders if she can ever have a guy around the house like a normal family. Won’t tell you how it ends but this is a quick story and a good read. I received this from Netgalley.com I gave it 3 stars. Follow us at

Be My Valentine (The Bridal Shop #2) by R.J. Groves
Publisher: Escape Publishing
Genre: Romance
Release Date: February 4, 2021

Be My Valentine by R.J. Groves is the second book in The Bridal Shop series and is a sweet romance. I did not read the first book, but I was easily about to jump right into this book!

I though the storyline was good and the characters were very likable. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, Harley and Joey.

This was a quick read and I was able to finish it in one sitting. I actually refused to put it down until I reached the end!

I would recommend this to someone who is looking for a sweet romance with a nice story.

I'm so grateful to R.J. Groves, Escape Publishing, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Don’t let the length of this book fool you, it’s packed with love, laughs and a whole lot of steamy chemistry! With a shorter book, things are of course a little quicker. This had a insta-love vibe that I’m not usually a fan of, but the length of the book totally saved that for me. This had a Hallmark vibe to it but with the steam of Lifetime. If you’re on the hunt for your next light read just in time for Valentine’s Day, look no further!

‘Be My Valentine’ tells the story of Harley Smith who feels that she is always unlucky in love. With Valentine's Day approaching and no date in sight, Harley can’t stop thinking about Joey, her brother’s best friend. Joey Gray hasn’t stopped thinking about Harley since he first met her, but his job as a sailor has meant that he hasn’t seen her in quite some time. Yet she is the woman who has filled his dreams for months on end. When Joey arrives on her doorstep, Harley wonders if this is all too good to be true.
A well-timed book for Valentine’s day, this book will bring a smile to anyone’s face. A quick read with looks of lovely flowers in the background (Harley is a florist)! At times, I wished that the characters could have been fleshed out more but overall, this is a sweet story.

If you are craving a romantic read but are short on time, this one is definitely for you! A friends to lovers trope between Harley and her best friend's brother Joey.
Joey is a naval officer and the ship is his life but he's fallen in love with Harley. Harley feels the same way but will she be able to handle a relationship with a man she won't see for months at a time.
This is a cute, fun and easy feel good read and a perfect Valentines Day read.

I can’t say a lot about this book.

It was just missing.. something. Conflict? A little more drama?

Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first book, to begin with, but from what I had gathered, this one didn't need a whole backstory for me to worry about. Maybe I was wrong.

It was cute, like tooth-rotting cute with very little conflict, and moved super fast. The h annoyed me more than anything with her lack of confidence in herself and her constant thoughts of doubt. I felt like neither of the characters grew at any point in this short little novella. As a former military girlfriend, I could relate to the aspect of being away from one another but she was just too much.

Honestly, I just finished it because it was too short to give up.

Fans of insta-love will love this book. Lifelong navy sailor Joey has met the only thing to capture his attention on land in years, seamstress Harley. Joey takes leave to surprise Harley for her birthday and spend some time with her, but how will they move forward together?

This book is a good love story. I'm not a huge fan of insta-love and attraction, but can't deny that Joey and Harley had chemistry. Because this is a novella, I felt that there wasn't a lot of time to see Joey develop through his decision as whether or not to leave the navy, but I do always love a happy ending. The writing style and plot did not especially pull me in or keep me engaged, but for those looking for a happily ever after and a feel-good valentine's themed story will enjoy this one.

Groves managed to pack a lot of great story into this short friends-to-lovers romance. This very fast read has great MCs and secondary characters, a little mystery, some steamy bedroom scenes, and a lot of heart.

This was a cute story about finding true love and putting your whole heart on the line to get your happy ever after. It's the second book in 'The Bridal Shop' series.

Harley had been hurt before and wasn't keen to repeat the experience - even for someone as unforgettable as Joey. But when Joey takes a week's leave from his duties aboard naval ship HMAS Mallee to return to Perth and seek Harley out, she wonders whether she can risk her heart again by falling in love with someone who might not always be around.

Since meeting Harley, Joey has been unable to get her off his mind. And a week with her in the Margaret River has cemented what he knew to be true. He was in love with her. But he wasn't prepared to give up his life on the sea to be with her.

So where did that leave them?

I was swept away by this lovely story and couldn't wait to found out if Harley and Joey could work out their differences and get their happy ever after. A light, quick, feel-good read that is perfect for the holidays.

This was a very short read. It was to short to get a feel for this characters.
We were thrown in the middle of the story. And saw the crush developed into love. But as I said, this was such a short read, that everything happened to quickly.
Just really didn't feel this one.
3 stars only.

Be My Valentine by R.J. Groves is a quick read about falling in love with your best friend’s brother. I didn’t read the first book so, there is some back story missing, but I don’t feel like I missed anything. Harley is a seamstress at a bridal shop where she works with her friend Andie. Andie’s brother, Joey came home and sparked up a friendship with Harley. With Harley’s birthday being on Valentine’s Day, she tries to push past the fact that she is once again single for both occasions while still being infatuated with Joey. Little does she know what is waiting for her on her doorstep.

The thing that endeared this book to me was that Harley’s birthday is in February, as is mine. Her favorite flowers are gerbera daisies, as are mine. What’s not to love?! Overall, it was a quick read, so I wish I had more with them and had longer scenes to develop the characters but it was a short and sweet love story. Seeing as I got this as an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley, I feel that honestly, since it is such a short read it is a good one.
