Nigella's books are like reading a family cookbook that has been past down through the ages with recipes filled with love, heart, and mouthwatering dishes. This latest book doesn't disappoint! The recipes are comforting, unique, familiar, delicious, and accompanied with tips and personal anecdotes.
This is a great addition for culinary classes. I will definitely be adding this one to the shelf in our classroom and look forward to seeing which future chef are inspired by this book.
I love Nigella Lawson books and cooking programs, so her latest is a purchase for me. She has easy, approachable recipes that are tasty and look great. I give 4 stars because most of her dessert recipes are either too basic or too fussy, but all the entrees, etc are great. And the accompanying photos are beautiful as always.
What a stunning addition to the Nigella Lawson library! Full of warmth, wit and wonderful, delicious recipes. It's a gift!
l instructions, but also add in bits written in my voice that elucidate the things I needed to figure out for myself and want to make sure they get right the first time since I was the one who raved about the recipe in the first place.
Nigella's always been good at threading this needle, and I love that the essay approach this book takes in places (including a chapter on just how you get to a recipe) gives you the feeling of having a friend guiding you through a recipe while sitting at a kitchen island, letting you figure out the magic with your own hands. As with her last few books, there's a nice balance of more classic preparations with a few nods to current cooking trends - I feel like if Nigella's tried something and is telling me about it (in this case, 'nduja sausage, or cooking pasta in beet juice both for color and flavor), it's probably worth seeking out and trying for myself. I also like that a few of the essays in the book call out the current food climate we're in with quarantine, and how cooking can be both a balm and something where we just want to reach for something quick because we're tired of things being a balm and just want to eat.
Scrumptious. Delectable. Reading this book is like taking that first rich bite of the best thing you’ve ever had. This is so much more than a cookbook. The way Nigella describes the ingredients is delicious. I devoured each page wanting to run into my kitchen and see what I could make. This book is both inspiring and comforting. It’s like being invited round for tea and having Nigella herself talk to you about each recipe at the table. Not a stuffy straightforward cookbook by any means. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
There were quite a few recipes in here that looked great. I also enjoyed the essays about food, and all of the images. This is a book full of stories and thoughts, with recipes included. I could really hear her voice when reading it.
Cook, Eat, Repeat by Nigella Lawson is a good cookbook filed with stories and cooking tips. I can really tell that Nigella loves food and cooking. That passion comes through in this book.
***** I received an ARC from NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my honest review. *****
As the mom of three boys, the title Cook, Eat, Repeat really speaks to me! I spend an infinite amount of time in the kitchen and with meal prep and this is just the type of book I tend to seek out. There are lots of good recipes for comfort food that isn’t overly fussy, just delicious. As with other Nigella cookbooks, I enjoyed her writing and thoughts as much as the recipes themselves.
Thank you to Ecco and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
In the beginning of Nigella Lawson's book she states that food is a pleasure and I can say I thought it was a pleasure to read her cookbook. This book was a delightful mix of recipes, short essays, and personal notes. I love that she discusses how writing recipes can be stressful. Like when you are instructing a person to use a medium vegetable, what does that mean? Early on in this book Nigella establishes a welcoming, warm, and often funny voice.
While some of the recipes may seem daunting, Nigella's warmth really shines through. She walks the reader through the why and the how of the recipe while often offering various substitutions for different diets or options for making food ahead of time. I also enjoyed that some recipes were targeted for smaller servings of a dinner for two or even a dessert for one. My favorite part is that Nigella insists on bringing the pleasure back to eating, leave your guilt at the door.
Recipe I'm most excited to try? Chicken in a Pot with Lemon and Orzo hands down....or maybe the Christmas Bread Pudding. I'm sure with Nigella's guidance there is no wrong answer, only the pleasure of trying something new.
Beautiful cookbook with stunning pictures to match each recipe. Nigella's commentary alone made me want to try these elevated (but possibly everyday) recipes. I really appreciated the variety in complexity and styles in the cookbook, making sure that there are many recipes for all cooks/palates! Honestly, I can't wait to make them all!
This book was received as an ARC from Ecco in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
Being a fan of Nigella and her career and have read and made many of her cookbooks and recipes, I had high expectations of this book and rest assured I was not disappointed. All of her recipes sounded easy, comforting, interesting, and delicious. I especially like the brown squid and beans, Burnt Onion Eggplant Dip, and I can't wait to try the Rhubarb and Custard Trifle. If these recipes are easy as they sound, I definitely can see this book as a potential candidate for a future cooking demo.
We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
I like Nigella Lawson because she’s a strong, independent woman who loves food and refuses to feel guilty about it. And that’s really the gist of her newest book, it’s filled with recipes and stories that are both delicious and comforting, with no censuring of sugar or fat. Lawson is a beautiful, successful woman of a certain age who will inspire readers to follow her lead and see food as something to enjoy, not fear and loathe
