The House Your Stars Built: A Guide to the Twelve Astrological Houses and Your Place in the Universe by Rachel Stuart-Haas is a really cool book if you have an interest in astrology and want to learn more about your birth chart. I learned a lot about myself. I do wish there would have been illustrations in the book as I think that would have enhanced my learning even more. #NetGalley
Good for those who want to further their astrology studies and move into reading charts. Some intro to the signs but goes to different areas of the houses in an astrological chart. Good addition.
This is a wonderful book, packed full of information. I do feel it might not be the best book for beginners but it really does give some valuable insight into astrology. Obviously, you need to have your birth chart to be able to really understand anything but this is a great book and I need to buy a copy to have handy in my collection. :)
Good book, but I was mostly lost. It doesn't seem great for beginners. Sure, there's a lot of information and insight, very detailed, but also confusing. Charts or more information on the wheel, houses, and quadrants might have helped. But if you're looking to delve deeply into understanding astrology, this is a good book for that.
I’ve been diving a bit more into my star charts lately. My super crafty friend made me a birth chart and I honestly didn’t know the first thing about how to read it. Lemme tell you that it’s some synchronicity that I stumbled upon this way helpful book! The House Your Stars Built will take you step by step to help you understand yourself better. I’m really looking forward to getting drastically more in depth with all the knowledge this book presents.
Thanks so much to NetGalley for this eARC in return for an honest review!
This had a ton of really great information. The explanations and examples were fantastic. However, I really felt that this would benefit tremendously from illustrations. At many times I was left confused because there was no chart or image to explain the presented information. I am a highly visual learner and I think would have learned more with relevant illustrations. (I do note that this is an eARC so it’s possible that illustrations were just not included in my review copy.) I don’t think that this book is a one stop shop for all things astrology, but I do think it’s an awesome resource. I think if illustrations are included in the final published piece, this would be a great choice for beginners. I’m excited to revisit after publication. Overall, I had a positive reading experience and I learned a lot about reading my own chart.
*thank you to the publisher for my review copy*
Thank you to both NetGalley and Tiller Press for providing me with an advance copy of Rachel Stuart-Haas’s astrological work, The House Your Stars Built, in exchange for an honest review.
The House Your Stars Built offers a basic overview of how to read and understand an astrological birth chart based on your zodiac sign. If you are already familiar with this practice, then this book is probably too simplistic for you. However, if you know absolutely nothing about reading astrological charts, then this book might be a good starting point.
I have recently taken a deeper dive into my star charts and attempting to interpret them, what they mean for me, and how I interact with the world/the world affects me. Because of that, I was so excited for this book to see what other information I could uncover. Having your star chart handy will be key (unless you have it memorized), including your birthday, birth time, and birth location to pinpoint a more accurate chart and personal understanding. From there, the author breaks it down into such easy-to-understand, easy to digest pieces that walk you through the meanings that you're looking for. This book doesn't expect you to have any pre-existing knowledge or understanding of your chart, doesn't force you to go look up anything, and tells it to you like it is. I could never tell you what the houses meant or which sign was "bad" to have in that house, but this book just lays it all out there for you. She even included many celebrities, leaders, and influential people's charts so that you can look and compare and maybe understand some of your favorites even more. SO! Grab your chart, your partner's chart, your friends' charts, and start diving in!
