A fun interesting project book to look at. It was about embroidery. It included patterns and what materials you would need for each. There was also instructions with pictures that follow each types of stitches to do for the design. It also had pictures of each designs patterns.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
I tend to favour needlecrafts like cross-stich due to the rigid structure each of the little squares and crosses, however after reading Organza Hoop Art, I finally feel brave enough to venture into the more fine, more delicate art of embroidery.
I'm more than a little scared, thanks to not having the protection of an opaque fabric to hide a multitude of sins, but the instructions given in Organza Hoop Art will certainly be very helpful.
Organza Hoop Art is well presented and would be good for any crafters who likes to cross stich or embroider and would like either expand their skills or try this different technique,
The material is easy to understand and follow for the projects and the pictures are beautiful! I highly recommend this book it would me are a great gift!
Organza Hoop Art by Sarah Godfrey really intrigued me with this technique. The folks at Landauer publishing were kind enough to give me a temporary digital review copy. I have seen this technique before: it's embroidering on organza so it looks like the stitches are just kind of floating in the hoop. The book includes projects and they are all whimsical and vintage and kind of old fashioned. I want to go out and buy some organza!
I like the projects, and I like the photography. There is a stitch glossary in the front of the book and every single stitch has detailed step-by-step photos of stitching it on the organza. So one of the huge strengths of this book is that it teaches you a unique technique. The author does state that because you're stitching on sheer fabric you have to be more cautious about having a neat back. With all the fabric I have in my sewing room, I do not own a single piece of organza, but I’m going to go looking for some and give this a shot.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
This book was new and different and would be good for a crafter who likes to cross stich or embroider but is looking for a different way to display their creations. The author made it easy to understand how to assemble her projects and the pictures were beautiful! I will be recommending this book to every crafter I know that likes to try new things.
This book was not short on beautiful photos and best of all - easy to follow instructions particularly for those that are new to using the materials or embroidery! The organza adds a level of sophistication to embroidery work and transforms embroidery for the modern age. Really lovely title!
My skills will never be as good as the pictures in the book, but this is a fun craft/activity/hobby to do! I really enjoyed it but I can see that it would be expensive if you do it all the time.
What a lovely and inspirational embroidery book! Lots of fun patterns (I especially like the iris), good clear instructions, including some stitches I haven't seen much (or at all) in other books, and helpful tips throughout. The effect of embroidering on organza really is lovely, and I can't wait to give it a try. While the instructions are well explained, I do think this book would be better for a more experienced stitcher rather than a beginner, as organza is going to be a bit challenging if you're new to embroidery. This will be a great addition to any needleworker's library!

I received an ARC from the publisher and here are my thoughts:
If you have seen examples of organza embroidery and wanted to know how to get started yourself, this book will hold your hand and take you through all the steps you need to know.
Because organza is see-through and thin, it requires some special considerations that the author, Sarah Godfrey, writes about in a very clear and accessible way. The numerous photographs that accompany the instruction make it easy for even a complete novice to follow.
Highly recommended for anyone smitten by this beautiful variation of traditional embroidery.
I received this book as a NetGalley review copy.
I had honestly planned on buying this book based on other peoples work I had seen on Facebook. It's a beautiful book with clear instructions on how to succeed in creating magic, because that's what these look like if you are used to standard embroidery techniques. Well done Ms. Godfrey!
This was a creative book of hoop art! I am an experienced cross stitcher and am getting more into embroidery. I enjoyed the format of this book.
Cute book. It is very cute and cheerful, with nice large, bright pictorials and a nice layout. It looks to be a good book especially for those who may not be as familiar with embroidery, as it goes into the basic materials, with some hints and tips. A goodly number of pages are dedicated to basic stitches with really nice step by step pictures and printed instructions. The patterns are simple, bright, and cheerful patterns that are bright, and have good visual impact. I love the look of embroidered items on organza, and that seems to be a rather trendy project right now, and nice and portable. I have done many projects on Aida, and fine cotton, but have never done it on organza and this was a cute and inspiring book.
I would have liked to have seen a pictorial on how the projects were finished. There was some written information about it at the beginning, under the materials listing, but a visual, especially with the finishing and the application and look of the backing fabric would have been appreciated by me.
I was able to read this book for free one exchange for an honest review. Honestly, all the projects were super cute and original. I would recommend this book to everyone- even for a complete beginner like me, I was still able to feel confident that I could complete them.
Lots of explications for this type of embroidery (equipment needed, how to stitch, etc. ) which has the potential of being very beautiful.
However, due to problems with the downloading, many of the images were missing which is a great pity. This is the reason fir giving only three stars.
The book has inspired me to look further into this type of embroidery but perhaps in paper format.
This is a great new take on embroidery, resulting in a plusher looking and unique looking project. The book contains step-by-step detailed instructions, with pictures, for the patterns and embroidery stitches. The 12 patterns are varied and very attractive.
This is an excellent book for embroidery enthusiasts who are interested in learning a new technique, as well as beginning stitchers.
This is an excellent guide! The stitch glossary is very thorough and it even includes a color conversion chart for threads. The tips for working with organza are particularly helpful since the fabric is quite different from what I am used to stitching on such as cotton and linen. The variety of patterns included are fun and modern. I find the instructions easy to follow and really look forward to trying out several of these patterns.
Interesting
The book is about embroidery on organza, where you embroider and then display your work in the hoop and you can see through what is behind the embroidery. it requires special care of what is going on behind on the back of the work because it might be visible. The author explains some of the ways to have ends hidden and care taken for that. The instructions are step by step with large pictures showing close up of what is going on. There is a bunch of stitches explained that would be used for the projects. Each project has list of materials and stitches, and the pattern is printed right there on the page to copy and transfer to your fabric. The projects are mostly easy and simple and shouldn't take much time.
I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley
A fun interesting project book that is focused on a subset of embroidery work. The idea of working embroidery on organza is intriguing, but as the author states it is a bit more of a difficult task than traditional embroidery because organza does not have the tread count of other features that other embroidery fabrics do.
However, it is definitely an interesting genre of embroidery and one that I probably would not have thought of attempting without this book. I am interested in trying out the patterns in the book as they can be done on both organza or other embroidery fabrics.
Another part of the book that the author did exceptionally well is the overview of the stitches used in the patterns and showed how to do them step by step and what they should look like when done.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interesting in a different kind of crafting or who might want to expand their horizons in the field of embroidery.
A good instructional book for beginners or adventurous embroiderers wanting to try something new.
There are helpful tips for working with the fabrics and templates included.
Lots of bright helpful pictures too.
A hand embroider’s dream of a book! A new fabric to stitch on, organza, and easy to follow step-by-step instructions on choosing the right fabric, needle and threads for the best final product.
Instructions on the different stitches and techniques so even the beginner and first-time stitcher can complete the projects.
12 beautiful full-color with detailed instructions make it easy to follow along.
If you are stitcher looking for something new – you’ve got to get this book. Buy it, you’ll want to keep it as a resource at your fingertips.
