3.5 🌟 this is the Second in a series and it's extremely hard reading as the first but... wow, what a read. Eleanor apparently has been tortured in book one and in book 2 is undergoing some intense therapy. Toby, the man kidnapping and making his own family but embalming and making them into doll was absolutely a freakshow and I was riveted

I didn’t like this. Idk if it was the tone. Or how things were worded but it wasn’t my favorite. Probably wouldn’t pick up another book by this author.

This is the second book in a series and can easily be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel like I was lost having not read the first one. It was quite dark and chilling with a tense and dramatic plot and I can’t wait to read more of the series

Reading Between the Wines book review #95/115 for 2021:
Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 📱: Perfect Little Dolls
Author: Karen Long
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
RELEASED on January 18, 2021!!!

Sipping thoughts: Creepy. Sinister. Sick! But I really enjoyed it, lol. I played with dolls when I was younger but never pictured them in the way they were used in this book. Besides trying to find the killer in this book, you get to watch Detective Eleanor Raven fight her demons. This is book 2 and I did not read book 1 but there is enough flashbacks and details to help the reader catch up. However, I really want to go back and read the first book because I want to know all the details that makes Detective Raven so messed up.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @PerfectLittleDolls.

Perfect Little Dolls by Karen long is the second book in the DI Eleanor Raven series. Perfect Little Dolls was previously published as The Vault. Unfortunately this was my first time reading a book by Long but it will not be the last.

The discovery of a young womens charred body nestled in a trash heap sets in motion the discovery of one of the most bizzare psychopaths you will ever meet. Shockingly her body has been preserved and dressed to appear nothing more than a discarded "love doll".

The discoveries do not stop with body #1. More and more "dolls" are quickly found. Who has been collecting these human dolls and why? Can DI Eleanor Raven crack the case before a new doll gets added to the collection?

Perfect Little Dolls is a fast paced thriller that both shocked and appalled me in the best ways. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I am eager to read more of DI Eleanor Raven and do plan to go back and start at book one. While this book can be read alone I highly urge that you start at the beginning.

Thank you Bookouture for having me as part of this blog tour.I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Perfect Little Dolls was previously published as The Vault. 7/20/15

D.I. Eleanor Raven is back following a horrific attack by a serial killer (SAFE WORD). She is reunited with her new partner, Detective Laurence Whitefoot, as well as her old partner, Mo.

When skeletal remains are found on a land fill site, Raven and her team are called. What they find, at first, looks and almost feels like a doll, but tests prove the remains are, indeed, human ... and the victim has been embalmed. More women are found in the same condition and not until a young child is abducted does Raven begin to make the connections.

The character of Eleanor Raven is multi-layered. She's a true victim advocate in that she will do whatever necessary to see that the victims find justice. She had secrets in SAFE WORD that led to her capture by a deviant. It's only thanks to her new partner that she is rescued. In this book, more of her secrets see the light of day and explanations of why those secrets are so important to Raven.

Detective Whitefoot is another extremely interesting character. New to the team in SAFE WORD, he only wants to fit in with the team. In this book, he has asked for a transfer to another unit. Since he discovered one of Raven's secrets, they are both uncomfortable working together. But what I really want to know is his back story. He is .. or was... a physician before becoming a law enforcement officer. Now that's a real change of careers.. and I'd love to know why.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This is the second book in the DI Eleanor Raven series.

Eleanor has just returned to work after an enforced leave following her close call with a serial killer! She and her partner, Laurence Whitefoot are called to a landfill site where a body was discovered following a fire at the site, the body is most bizarre in that it has been preserved and dressed to appear like a “doll”, her hair perfectly arranged and a lime green scarf around her neck. When another two bodies are discovered and a young boy go missing, Eleanor begins to connect the dots, however, not everyone sees it that way and think she is seeing things that just don’t exist!

Another action packed gripping thriller which hooks you from the getgo. Cannot wait for No. 3!

Eleanor Raven investigates crimes, but she is also one of the most damaged main characters that I have read in recent memory. That was well-established in the first book and certainly continues into this one. The author makes a point of everything being gritty, from the lead to the supporting players, from the crime to all of the clues and revelations that come from the investigation, there is no real let-up. By the end of the book, I did feel kind of like I needed to take a shower. Following around in Eleanor’s footsteps can do that to a person. This is interesting because in some ways, there is not a lot of “by-the-book” action to the plot. Not for the faint of heart, but a great crime thriller. This is the second book in the series featuring Eleanor Black. Eleanor is back on duty following her last case and is still recovering from the physical and emotional damage it caused her. She is called out to investigate the discovery of an embalmed body of a young woman found at a local landfill site. As Eleanor and her team begin their investigations they find a link to an old unsolved case and the woman’s identity. When more embalmed bodies turn up and a young child goes missing Eleanor realises that a serial killer, The Collector, is on the loose and is murdering women for his collection, I enjoyed the first book in the series and gave it five stars and I found this book just as gripping, I can’t wait to read book number three.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
