The location was everything in this book! I loved the descriptions of the landscapes.

His Hidden Wife is an interesting look at how tragedy can shape a family and their relationships, as well as how our memories can change our perception of the past.

I enjoyed the high level of suspense, and I had no idea what the ending would be. There are plenty of twists to keep the reader on their toes. I would say the beginning is more of a slow burn, but the last third certainly picks up the pace and is worth the wait.

A good twisty suspense although it took me a little longer to get into this book. fully. Well worth sticking with as once you get into it you’re hooked. I didn’t see the end coming so that was a bonus for me. Written in the style of being told from 2 characters perspectives.

Thank you publisher and Netgalley for the copy.

This was a slow-paced nicely written thriller. I wasn't a fan of the characters and hence struggled with the story, to the point that I was about to DNF. But the story did pick up at the end. The ending was unexpected and shocking.

His Hidden Wife is the story of Stephen but is told from two different points of view; that of Maya, his 18 year old and Theresa, his colleague at work. The story centers around the mystery surrounding the death of Maya's mother. Maya doesn't remember much with respect to the incident and most people in the village do not talk about it anymore.

The story starts of rather slow, introducing us to the characters and trying to establish some context. I found it a little hard to remain engaged with the book and characters until the second half when the pace picked up. I enjoyed the mysterious nature of the plot and the father/daughter relationship. Stephen is indeed an enigma and I could not understand him until the end. Maya is a confused teenager who is trying to figure out the truth. When her father suddenly reveals that he has met someone new and brings Amy home, seeing her reminds Maya of her mother and brings buried memories to the surface.

Theresa's story is a different one and honestly I could not understand her role in the book until midway when her friendship with Stephen is explained. We also get a glimpse into her life and family. I was not sure where all this fit into the story , but it helped to give some insight into her character. As Maya struggles to sort out her memories, we reach a point in the story where a lot is revealed and the twist in the end is one noone will see coming! Everyone has secrets and noone wants to reveal them! This was handled well and I like how the author brought out each persons role in the story.

This is the first time I cannot decide how I feel about the book. I cannot also connect the story with the title and synopsis of the book. It feels different and out of place to me. However, I would still recommend this book as it has a good plot, it is well-written and is great for those who enjoy a slow burn mystery. The plot is built up until it explodes in the end with unexpected twists and turns!

Not my most favorite. I felt like it was a little slow compared to other kinds of thrillers that I read. Not sure if I would recommend or not.

This is a Suspenseful Thriller with twists and turns that will keep you guessing. WOW... There is not a lot of thrillers that have me totally blinded sided. I cannot say how much I loved this thriller. In this book we follow two different points of view. This book pulled me in right away and it had me guessing from the beginning. I really did not seeing it ending like it did, but it was not an ending that was not believable. I loved this whole book, and it was so well written.

I have to give kudos to the author on this one. I didn’t know what was going on or whose perspective to trust up until the very last page of the book – and even then, there was one more surprise. I thought that this was a well-plotted story that (for the most part) revealed information at just the right points in the story. There were some portions that were slow and a lot of introspective musings that went a bit long, but I suppose they were necessary to lay the groundwork for the action that really took off in the last third of the book. Regardless, as I mentioned at the outset, this did keep me guessing and wondering up to the very end, so I would certainly recommend it. For a full review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks. All Maya has left of her mother are memories. After her mother’s tragic death twelve years ago, Maya has felt responsible for her father’s well being and happiness, even if that meant sacrificing her own. Her are her father are very close and have a bond that she feels can never be broken. When a new woman enters her father’s life, the past and present collide. Amy, her father’s new girlfriend is eerily similar to Maya’s beloved deceased mother. The likeness triggers memories that are troubling and confusing. What happened to her mother? Was it a horrible accident or something more malicious? This was a slow burn mystery that started to pick up in the last third of the story. The ending was surprising and had a twist I didn’t see coming. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.

We think we know everything about our close ones. But do we really know them? Can we?

His Hidden Wife is a gripping and gritty thriller I loved reading. The twists came coming when I was least expecting them and took me by surprise almost every time.

Thanks to Wendy Clarke, Bookouture, and Netgalley for the ARC.

4 stars.

This was really an amazing read. I didn't know what to expect, but what did happen at the end, I did not see coming. The book had so many twists and turns, I was glued until the very end. Highly recommended.

An emotional roller coaster that’s unpredictable and exciting. Full of twists and turns that keeps you guessing to the very end. Every time I thought I figured it out… I was wrong.

After losing her mother at a young age, years later, Maya’s dad Stephen introduces his new girlfriend, Amy, who is the spitting image of her late mother. Maya starts to question her memories or are her memories just what she’s been told? What is the truth? Then there’s Teresa, Stephen’s partner from work who has a major crush on him. There are so many secrets and Maya needs figure it all out.

This was my first novel by Wendy Clarke and will be definitely be looking out for more of her work.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What exactly is the truth regarding Mayas mums death? Is all as it seems ? As secrets are about to be exposed people’s lives change dramatically.

Completely gripping and an highly addictive thriller.

Set in a gorgeous location which is the perfect scene and atmosphere for this story.

The ending saved this for me, did not see that coming at all!

This author has a nice easy writing style and develops interesting characters. She does tend to do the slow burn thing though, so if that irritates you then this probably is not the author for you. This is my fourth by this author and I found this one had a bit more detail/description than I remember and I felt myself growing impatient at times

As far as plot goes, I found the fascination and attraction to Stephen a bit odd. He didn’t sound all that charismatic, kind or attractive. Yet he was rolling through the women like no tomorrow... Maya, poor Maya, there’s nothing to say without giving up the plot but ugh. Theresa did nothing but frustrate me and didn’t really add anything to the story. Her infatuation with Stephen was ridiculous and juvenile.

The story picks up 3/4 of the way through and then it’s one thing after another. The red herrings throughout had me stumped. I liked the conclusion and the final revelation was crazy. This was not my favorite by this author but it is definitely entertaining and worth a read.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

Stephen, Cheryl and Maya are the perfect family or is that how they want the outside world to see them .
The community is distraught when Cheryl falls to her death off the cliffs they are regular seen walking on.
Was it an accident or was she pushed .
The years pass by and Cheryl’s death is unresolved.
Stephen finds love again with a woman who is the double of Cheryl.
Will she end up the same way as Cheryl?
Good read
Thanks NetGalley

Full of intrigue, suspense and a riveting storyline, this book had me engrossed from the first page.
I love this authors writing style and the way in which she brings the setting to life clearly in the readers mind, which really allows you to feel as though you are a part of the story.
The plot was well structured and had so much depth and drive throughout, with the tension ramping up as the story begins to unfold, this is undoubtedly a must read!

Maya & her father live in the big house on the cliff. Twelve years ago Maya's mother died & since then she has tried to stop her father's dark moods taking over. Although a clever girl she chose not to go to University but works in a nearby care home. Stephen is a therapist - definitely a case of physician heal thyself!! There Teresa, a colleague, hangs on every word. The story is told from various points of view. If ever a blurb was misleading it's this one! The title is confusing- kept waiting for someone to find her in the attic! None of the characters were very appealing & the mystery of Stephen's wife death was not all that intriguing. All in all I found myself wondering if everyone would be happier if the house collapsed into the sea with them all in it! Sorry this one just wasn't for me but thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this ARC.

Psychological thrillers are my jam, but for some reason, I could not get into this book. I struggled through it. I was waiting for something exciting to happen, and it just didn't. Maya was rather dull, and the father annoyed me quite a bit. I just didn't enjoy this one, unfortunately.

3 for neutral. Unfortunately., this book was just not for me. I am a moody reader, so it may have been that, but I just could not get into it or understand what was going on enough to finish. Will update if able to finish at a later date,

Well, this was a very intriguing and compelling book! Everyone seems to be keeping a secret, and you will feel like trusting nobody.

The prologue is certainly arresting, it starts with the day that Maya’s mother dies, when Maya is six years old. We then fast forward to the present day, and the story is told from both Maya’s, the daughter, now eighteen years old, and Teresa, a friend and work colleague of her father’s, point of view.

When Stephen, Maya’s father, appears with a new partner, Amy, who is so like his dead wife in appearance, I didn’t know what to think. Was he trying to replace her? Had he told the truth about how she died? As the plot twists and turns its way to the conclusion, I found myself suspecting everyone and everything. When the final twists come, none of it was what I expected at all.

The setting is very atmospheric, and a little creepy. They live on a remote coastal path, near where Maya’s mother plunged to her death, and this really adds to the tension, and sinister undercurrent of the story.

A very cleverly plotted, eerie and memorable thriller, this is one that I won’t forget in a hurry.
