A bit wordy but an otherwise charming and informative tale of how The Beatles came to be. The delightful illustrations are a fantastic nod to the work of Heinz Edelmann.
A great book that although it's aimed at children, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about how the Beatles became who they are!
Very simple and easy to understand.
Cute little story of The Beatles! It breaks down the band forming & gaining interest. the illustrations are in a 60/70s vibe. I think this book would be perfect for 2nd or 3rd graders when researching or learning. It’s too much for a kindergartener but too little for a 5th grader. I think it would be nice to have bios of each member in the back of the book for more info. I’m not sure the book captured the obsession the Beatles produced or how much they’ve impacted modern music.
I must talk about the art in this book first. I loved the colors and feel like it really captured a "Beatles" feel. The story itself is pretty great as well. Narration shares the history of this remarkable and groundbreaking book in a concise interesting format that children will enjoy. Readers learn how the group was formed and that the members had to work hard and practice to become skilled at making music. Readers are reminded that the band members were sometimes nervous or scared before concerts. This will help young readers realize these emotions are okay. Great Read.
We Are The Beatles is a wonderful book about one of the most influential musical groups of all time. Beautiful illustrations accompany the fascinating story of the origin and career of the Beatles. This book reminded me a lot of the books in the Little People Big Dreams series. I loved learning about The Beatles' musical partnership, I only wish the book was a little longer, covering more of their prolific career.
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions and NetGalley for providing this ARC.
The publisher notes that this book is part of a series of books on friendships. It is an interesting lens through which to view the Beatles. In this brightly illustrated book, readers see John and Paul meet. Following on this is the gradual evolution of the group as George and Ringo are added. The four are shown as working hard and having a bit of stage fright but, of course, the music they played changed the world.
Adults who like the Beatles will enjoy this book along with the children in their lives. It offers a reminder that even the most famous among us were once young and finding their way.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.
