#TheUltimateSpamCookbook #NetGalley

Special thanks to NetGalley and Fox Chabel publishing for providing me with ARC.

I love to eat so much specially when i was kid but Mum refused to buy it because it's not healthy enough for me, when i grow up, i buy it behind her back 😂😂 but when i decided to change my lifestyle, it's not fit with it specially that i am playing sport but from time to time, i eat it.

I love that this book contains a lot of recipes, i will try it soon.

Did you know that the people of Guam eat on average 16 cans of SPAM per person per year? Neither did I until I got my mitts on The Ultimate SPAM Cookbook, courtesy of #NetGalley and #FoxChapelPublishing. We tried 4 recipes and my household is now well on its way to that 16 cans per capita benchmark. Here are our results!

Bulgogi SPAM Bao: Wow! The marinade was the star of the show here. The garlicky soy sauce + the subtle sweetness of the pear really balanced the salty/rich SPAM. The gochujang slaw was like maybe the best slaw I've ever had. As a side note this is the second time we have scratch-made bao and we definitely did a little better this time!

SPAM Monkey Bread: We had this for Christmas morning brunch. The contrast between the salty slightly crisp SPAM against the pillowy cinnamon-y sweet biscuits was a fun variation on a perinneal favorite.

SPAM and Egg Macaroni Soup: This was surprisingly tasty and cozy. A little googling is giving me the sense that using canned condensed soup is not traditional for this Hong Kong diner classic. I'd just as soon use regular chicken broth if I made this again. That said, the creamy soup broth simmered with the ginger was kind of a revelation. Breaking your egg yolk into the broth is absolutely the way to go.

SPAM PB&J: This was the one I was most dreading and most looking forward to. Why mess with an already perfect food?? To my horror, this was weirdly delicious. Why does this work?? One of life's great mysteries...

This cookbook was creative and quirky and surprisingly full of interesting SPAM facts. While I legally cannot recommend eating four SPAM-centric meals in a week and a half, I think if you are a SPAM fan, you will definitely enjoy it! I this cookbook 4/5 stars!

SPAM has been around for YEARS!! Once again, it makes its debut in The Ultimate Spam Cookbook! Every kind of Spam dish you can think of is in this book! The book is filled with pictures of the finished dishes, and the ingredients easy enough to find. I see America going back to this staple in the near future!

My household love spam. This cookbook would be useful for us but we likely wouldn't use every recipe included. It may be convenient in a book but I may just look up the recipes on their website or pinterest. Some of the recipes sound really strange while others sound great. I appreciate the pictures included with almost every recipe. I would also consider checking it out from the library and copying out my favorites.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of The Ultimate Spam Cookbook.

I used to eat spam often as a kid in the 80s; my mom used to make dishes with spam frequently and it was one of my favorite meals. It's one of my happiest memories growing up and spending time with my mom.

I don't eat it as much anymore because my body is no longer as youthful as it once was to deal with the sodium content, but I have such fond memories of it, watching with my mother in the kitchen as she fried the spam with toast or rice.

The Ultimate Spam Cookbook is for lovers of spam, for those who grew up eating it like I did, or recent converts to the famous pink meat in a can.

The recipes are varied and diverse, with photos accompanying most of the recipes.

I enjoy the Asian twist to most of the recipes, derived from regional Hawaiian dishes or using it in many forms of musubi.

I was particularly delighted when reading the last chapter, where international chefs reveal their favorite recipes using spam. This was an unexpected pleasure.

I only wished there were more photos to go with the recipes.

I have collected...or accumulated my husband says...cookbooks for many years. I have so many that I now only select those that are unique and different. This one is definitely unique and different. I love Spam, always have. I'm also a junkie for any cookbook that doubles as excellent reading and this one covers that requirement too. From the history of Spam to how it has become a cultural favorite in many countries, the book is much more than an intriguing collection of recipes. I've already tried 2/3 of them and am working on the rest. This book would make an excellent gift to any Spam lover, cookbook collector or student of unusual information.

This cookbook, which can double as a great gift for all Spam lovers, begins with the history of SPAM – including that the name’s origin is a secret but many believe it’s from the words “spiced ham.” Besides recipes you’ll find out how SPAM products are made, what’s in a can of SPAM, and how long it can be stored (not forever!). The recipes are categorized by these sections: Breakfast; Appetizers; Lunch; Dinner; and From Chefs’ Kitchens to Yours – a selection of recipes from different chefs from around the country with why SPAM inspires them at the back of the cookbook. I thought that this was a handy cookbook that shows how SPAM can be used in the kitchen without it being the main ingredient.

Since I was a kid I’ve kept cans of Spam in my kitchen cupboards just in case the notion to enjoy a sandwich comes up. To me it was always a salty treat ate with Heinz 57 and a slice of white bread after the Spam had been fried. The label has always been that glorious blue color and big yellow letters. For some reason this meat has been stigmatized as mystery meat but the ingredients remain the same unlike other processed meat on the shelf beside Spam. It is very expensive compared to other canned meat but the taste makes it well worth it.

What did I like? The cookbook is well planned out and simply gorgeous! Pictures on every page and the cuisine goes through all cultures. Labeled breakfast, lunch, and dinner through Asian, American, and Mexican foods all done with Spam. It’s an interesting take on how other cultures have adapted this canned meat.

Would I recommend or buy? If you have eaten Spam and enjoy it’s salty flavor then this cookbook can help you take your love past sandwiches. I found it to be a gorgeous cookbook with mouth watering pictures. I would definitely buy a copy and recommend it to people wanting to give Spam more love at meal times.

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review! Five stars Hormel!

Being a child born in the 80's, Spam has featured in my diet my whole life. As a teenager, I hated the stuff as it was brought out too regularly for my liking, but now as an adult I love it. As it comes cold, fried or grilled so I thought this book would be a great way to get more ideas of what to make with it. The recipes are great, colourful and easy to follow, I love how each one has its on picture so you can see what it looks like, or should in some cases. My favourite so far has to be Spam Benedict but I intend to make my way through the book and try more.

Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Before anything else, I feel like I need to leave some words of caution for the next person who plans to read this book. First of all, before reading, I urge you to check if you have a can or two ( although, I think a dozen is really in everyone's best interest) of Spam in your pantry. Second, please make sure that you've eaten before reading this. Third, under no circumstances should you read this at night, especially when you're in bed and very ready to enter the realm of sleep. Why? Because, I did the opposite of what I'm telling you and I seriously suffered the consequences! It didn't occur to me that this cookbook could make me remember how much I LOVE SPAM. So, there I was being a fool, reading, reading, reading until I felt really hungry for Spam but I just slept with an angry stomach and dreams of Spam since I haven't got a can in my pantry. Oh the horror and the anguish!

Seriously, those months when we were on lockdown and/or if a nearby apartment was on quarantine, this humble can of meaty goodness was a whole lot of help. Granted that it's a bit pricey but now that I've got some new ideas from this amazeballs cookbook, this is gonna be an amazing budget changer! Just a bit of a head's up though. Where I'm from, Spam would be a cool gift for when you've just arrived overseas. I'm not sure if it's appropriate as a wedding gift, though!

I can't thank NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing, enough, for approving my request to read this ARC. I very much enjoyed reading this book and am leaving a review of my own accord.

I had no idea that there were so many ways to use Spam! I did NOT try them all, but those that were made were enjoyed by the family, and will be made again.

Growing up in Hawaii, SPAM was a staple in practically every household. SPAM was convenient, easy to prepare, and it was a good source of protein. Back then, SPAM was only offered in the classic flavor. There was no such thing as teriyaki, bacon, or jalapeño flavors. These days, there are a variety of flavors, including chorizo, and for the health concious, low sodium and lite.

The Ultimate SPAM Cookbook is more than a cookbook, It is a book filled with the history and manufacturing process of SPAM. Did you know that it takes about three hours to cook and cool a can of SPAM, and that the meat is cooked in the can? Filled with interesting facts and figures, I was just amazed at the amount of information contained in this book. Not only did I learn a lot about SPAM, I also got to try some delicious recipes that used a flavor other than the classic. I got to try teriyaki and bacon. What a treat it was to have the SPAM LT (using bacon flavor,) SPAM Fried Rice (using teriyaki flavor,) and the Toasted SPAM and Cheese Sandwiches.

The Ultimate SPAM Cookbook is a must have for the SPAM lover in your life. I just have to get a copy for my brother-in-law! Five stars.

I received a digital copy of the book from Fox Chapel Publishing. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

The Ultimate Spam Cookbook has some cool facts about spam. Most of them I did not know. There are also of course loads of interesting recipes included as well. Some of these I'm not so sure I'd try, but there are quite a few I think would be rather good. If you like spam and would like to learn some new ways to try it, then you should definitely get this book. Could also make a good gift for the spam lovers in your life.

This book committed a miracle; it made me want to eat spam! To be honest I read this book just because I was curious but came away both impressed and hungry. While the writing is great the book is made even better by the wonderful and bright photos and use of color. People should give this book a shot. I think they will be just as pleasantly surprised as I was.

This book has a lot of pictures. Which is a big plus for me. Lots of interesting recipes and will use some over the holidays. Loved the SPAM Baked French Toast, easy to make and delish. SPAM Pizza Rolls were a favorite with the boys. SPAM Fried Nice was a nice lunch. Easy SPAM Pho was a big hit too. If you like SPAM, this is for you

It's been years since I've eaten spam, but I have fond memories of my older brother making us spam sandwiches. Which was probably about the only edible thing he could cook haha. This book had some great recipes in it and I plan on buying a copy as a gift for my brother, since he's still a spam lover.

In the UK a tin of SPAM has become a bit of a joke. It’s the one thing you can always find at the back of a cupboard because no one eats the stuff. It’s probably because as kids growing up in the 70’s we were force fed spam sandwiches. Grandma’s up and down the country thought they were giving us something special. A treat. Only for us kids to hide it in pockets and shoes.
Hats off to the author of this new cookbook. I’ve just put a couple of tins of the stuff on my shopping order. The recipes look so good I want to give it another try. Perhaps cooking up some of these delicious looking recipes I can discover a new appreciation of the product.
Beware family and friends. Future gifts from me will be a copy of this book and a tin of Spam.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC
