"People whose love lasts, whose love grows and endures, choose each other in the unhappily ever after, the dark moments, not just the dazzling ones."
I love marriage. I love it. My own marriage is my greatest source of joy, strength, grace, and love in my life. I also love romance novels and so you know I love that HEA. But the romance novels I love the most are those where people are fighting for each other, choosing each other, and working through what happens after most authors would wrap their story up in an epilogue. Marriage is hard - it's work every single day in the best of times, and it can seem impossible in the worst of times. If you've been there, you'll recognize those dynamics play out so beautifully in Ever After Always. And if you haven't, you'll have a greater appreciation for what comes after the ever after.
The Bergman Brothers books are my very favorite contemporary romance series and the third installment is the best so far (and I've rated the first two five stars as well - so seriously go read them!) Chloe Liese tackles the stuff of life - marriage, extended family, childhood baggage, work/life balance, sexual intimacy, deciding if/when to have a baby - and she does it with such care, such tenderness. Every word of this book, every character, is so dear and I can't wait to recommend this book to everyone I know.
If you're a Bergman fan, there's so much to love here as we get to tag along on a big family vacation. Ryder on a hike! Frankie and Ziggy and Willa and Freya on a girl's night out! The man cubs pulling pranks! Elin and Alex being parenting goals! It's the best. And OMG the easter eggs for book #4 - bless. You're going to want to preorder this right away - it's out on January 12. Ever After Always stands completely on its own, but the experience will be so much richer if you've read the first two in the series, so go pick those up now (they are also on Kindle Unlimited!)
Thanks to the author for an early review copy of this book. These opinions are my own so when I can't stop shutting up about this book, you only have me to blame.
I did not realize that this book was part of a series; I will be looking for the rest. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters immensely. The only drawback is that the mystery of Aiden’s missing father is really no mystery at all.
I've read the two previous books in this series and, just like in this one, I love how the author chooses to weave disability and mental illness in her romance stories. This book definitely stands out from its predecessors because it shows us a marriage between 2 people that love each other and this love has broken their trust and marriage. It talks about how anxiety and living a life in poverty really takes a toll on you and could destroy future relationships. It also talks about seeking help and having a solid support network that loves you.
I loved this book. I cried when the characters were drowning in their emotions and couldn't communicate their fears, I laughed when we get some time with this Swedish family and the boisterous siblings that love each other unconditionally, I smiled when we got to see Aiden and Freya sharing their love and striving to do better for each other and coming to terms that marriages change.
I really enjoyed how, even though the miscommunication is a key aspect in their failing marriage, the characters are able to articulate what they're feeling after they get help from a counselor. We get to see how they know, in stages, what the other person is feeling and why they're behaving like they're doing. It was so beautiful to see them working on themselves and their trust for each other through different methods that blended beautifully with the story and their personalities.
I loved how we got to know them individually and as a couple and how they understood that working on themselves and their issues was key to solving their problems. Also! The steamy scenes, can we talk about them?! They were sooooo goood and also helped the couple and you can see so much progress through how they engage in it. Ugh... Beautiful
I highly recommend this beautiful second chance romance that talks about anxiety, sex drive, lack of trust, pregnancy, feelings, learning your loved ones love language and much more.

Happily Ever After or Ever After Always ?!
This is the third "Bergman Sister" installment in the Bergman Brother Series.
Going in, I admit, I was a little hesitant about the "marriage in crisis" trope because 1. I'm not married so I wasn't sure if I could connect with the characters and 2. I've only read one that I liked (Tessa Bailey's Love Her or Lose Her). This one, however, blew me out of the water. Chloe's previous books in the series had a similar effect for me but in different ways.
Aiden and Frey's marriage is in trouble even before we read past the first page. We soon discover their miscommunication is a main contributor to their marriage crisis, but with the meddling of the Bergman siblings, words of Lisa Kleypas, near death experience, and a rap loving parrot their rocky relationship begins to bring a new appreciation of love.
Without giving away too much, I appreciated the complexity of Aiden's character. His personal struggles within himself made this novel a 5 star read. The vulnerability, often neglected due to toxic masculinity, was beautiful and Freya's journey to understanding and finding love with Aiden again was absolutely breathtaking. In the end, while it ended perfectly, it wasn't wrapped up in a happily ever after bow, but rather a Ever After Always knot, meaning the messy unhappy parts in a marriage are just as important & must be worked on every day together! How satisfying is that right?!
As always with Chloe Liese's writing, her passion is poured out on the page. The unique and raw emotion in her words is something everyone should experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone as it is a standalone but to get the whole experience of the Bergman Family start from book 1! You will not regret it and by this one you’ll be begging to be adopted.
I am looking forward to #4 with Axel and Rooney and if I’m being honest I’m looking forward to 5, 6, and 7 too.
What to expect (**some spoilers**):
- marriage in crisis
- Mental health rep
- Curvy/fat rep

** Will also be posted on Goodreads as of today (12/08/2020) and Amazon when possible!
Chloe is my favourite author. I love her. I love her writing and everything she stands for. Ever After Always is the third instalment of the Bergman Brother series where we get to see our favourite familiar faces and their meddling ways in hopes of fixing their family.
Aiden and Freya are a couple who are 10 years into marriage, and in this book it showcases the issues and struggles they face day to day. (the marriage in crisis trope is so underrated first of all) it’s amazingly honest and I loved every minute of it.
Chloe has a way of writing that captures you from the first page with a combination of laughter and love to raw emotional pain. it shows the difficulty it takes to make relationships work and function in ways which are healthy! Chloe creates the perfect story for Freya and Aiden.
The representation of anxiety in this book was also so so important! As someone who has anxiety, I felt seen in Aiden and could relate to him in so many ways. It made me so grateful that care went into the representation and it was accurate (at least for me)
Ever After Always it the third installment of Chloe Liese's Bergmen Brothers series and, to say this one has been highly anticipated for me is a gross understatement. I admit to not usually jumping up and down for joy when I see a "marriage in crisis" trope, but I know what kind of author Chloe is, and that not only would she do this story justice, she'd make me feel things I didn't know I could. Beyond that, this was an #OwnVoices read for me, as the hero, Aiden, has generalized anxiety disorder, something I was diagnosed with earlier this year. And our heroine, Freya, is a curvy girl. Also me.
We are well into the throes of a marriage in trouble before this book even begins - Freya and Aiden were having issues during the previous book, and this book picks up right where Always Only You leaves off. Aiden is navigating life a bit haphazardly, and Freya, an emotional, very vocal, feeling woman, is feeling unloved, neglected, and unappreciated. Aiden's childhood & life growing up was not easy so he's doing his absolute best to make sure that Freya, and any future children they may have, don't have that same fate. He's successful, striving for more. Freya is also successful in her own right as a physical therapist. As they are working to try and figure out how to actually communicate, Freya's parents are celebrating a milestone anniversary, and all the other siblings have decided to take them to Hawaii to celebrate. Right in the middle of their crisis. To try and cast off any suspicion that they aren't absolutely blissfully happy & in love, they go along, telling themselves to put their best fake happiness forward. Of course... her big brood of brothers have other plans for Aiden, since they are all aware that something is wrong. There are so many lovely moments, heartbreaking moments, and REAL moments in this book that even days later, I'm still thinking about it and processing.
There's also an incredible therapist session included before they go on this trip - I absolutely love that they are challenged by her before they leave.
Chloe has done something incredible here and, what I am left loving, probably the most, is that she doesn't wrap it up and put a pretty bow on their story. Yes - there is an HEA, this *IS* a romance, after all... but she doesn't let them, or us, as readers have it too fast. And not without some conditions. Because when you come across a marriage in crisis, we're not dealing with two people who are getting to know one another at the beginning of a relationship, we're dealing with two people who have so much love in their hearts for their partners, and are left wondering if they are in love with the same person they married. Additionally, I find it hard to articulate a lot of my struggles with my anxiety disorder and to see it explained on the page made me feel so incredibly seen. I highlighted so many portions of this book to share with my husband - I identified a LOT with Aiden, but also with Freya... I am a feeling person and love to articulate those feelings and let people know and I expect it back, but sometimes I can't find those words and being forced to discuss just skyrockets my anxiety.
I wholeheartedly LOVED this book and I can't wait for the world to read it. Pure brilliance and love.
Another fabulous Bergman Brothers book by Chloe Liese! Ever After Always is chicken soup for the soul mixed with a bit of spice, rich advice, and a healthy dose of steam.
I have absolutely adored every Bergman Brothers book and Ever After Always is no different. I especially loved how this one follows the oldest sister, Freya, and her husband. The first half of the book sets the scene between Freya and Aiden. Their marriage is struggling and we see firsthand just how important communication is in a relationship. The second half of the book is a delicious slow burn packed with the typical Bergman family antics, and Freya and Aiden learning and speaking each other's love languages.
Besides the relatable characters, deep storylines, and steamy scenes, what I love about most about Chole's books is that she write inclusive romance stories. She tackles real-life scenarios with grace and care. Anxiety, autism, rheumatoid arthritis... it's all vital to the story and it's beautiful.
I feel like I should pay Liese for the marriage advice she dispersed throughout the book. I'm making my husband read this one.
Ever After Always is the third book in the Bergman Brother's series, and while it can be read as a standalone, you will want to read the books in order to get the full Bergman family background. Can they please adopt me?
I can't wait for the next book that follows Axel and Rooney!
Such a fun series; I love spending time with this big, funny family and all their feelings. Each of the books have had a lot of heart, but this new title felt a bit more serious in tone with its marriage-in-crisis/second chance love story. I really enjoyed it, and felt for Adian and Friya as they worked on their relationship.
I have loved this series so far, and this book is great too.
Freya and Aiden have been married for years, but lately everything has changed. They are trying to sort things out themselves, but her brothers can't help but interfere. I found it an emotional read, but well written and issues dealt with in a sensitive way.
This was so good. As always. I loved spending time with the Bergman family, and I read this book in one day, just like I did with the other two books in this series. I really loved Freya and Aiden, and their story. Also, the marriage counselor in this book seems mega cool. Excited for book #4!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I have read and loved the two previous stories in this series. I do think that this could be read alone, but you will get so much more having read the two previous books which are amazing.
I would recommend if you are looking for (SPOILERS)
-m/f marriage in trouble
-only one bed
-vacation romance
-a rap loving parrot
-a heck of a Twister game
-so many Bergman brothers antics
-slow burn but with so much sexual tension
Before I get to Freya and Aiden I have to give a shout out to the Bergman Brothers. While their pranking may go too far, they are all cinnamon rolls in their own ways who love their family. I am ready for the Bergman brothers Lisa Kleypas romance bookclub.
Chloe Liese knows how to write strong female characters. Freya is strong, independent, and knows what she wants, but that doesn't mean she's perfect. She can be insecure about her body, and it takes two to tangle in any failing marriage. Which this book recognizes and does the work. In a mix of the funny and the gut wrenching at times, tonally different than the two prior books this book was an emotional journey that I could not put down.
But Aiden, Aiden my sweet glasses wearing (that prologue oof) cinnamon roll of a man. His childhood trauma still haunted him as he lived every day with anxiety. This story deals with it so honestly, kindly, how every day is different, every journey is different. How internalized that struggle is. How much he loved Freya and wasn't trying to hurt her. He takes quite the journey throughout this book and run through the emotional ringer. The ending was so beautiful and so well earned.
Just do yourself the favor and read this book.
Rating: 5
Steam: 3
CW: anxiety, childhood poverty, alcoholism, parental abandonment
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
“It’s a choice, a belief, I choose you, my Ever After, believing our love will sustain us, always. Ever After Always.”
The marriage in crisis trope is god tier and severely underrated.
Aiden and Freya have been married for almost ten years and whilst they both unendingly love each other, from the stresses of trying for a baby and Aiden’s attempts to prepare for that resulting in crazy work hours and constant absence, Freya is sick of their relationship not being prioritised and hence has kicked him out. Their marriage is in crisis but with some marriage counselling, a Hawaii getaway and some meddling brothers they might be able to get it back on track.
This series owns my entire heart and the third book smashes it out of the park all over again it’s a rarity that 3 books deep into a romance series I will have given each book 5 stars but here we are. I will say this is the first time that I have cried upon seeing I was approved for a book. This book was one of my most anticipated for next year so what a blessing it was.
The reason I love a good marriage in crisis book is that whilst everyone loves a good meet-cute and falling in love story this trope explores the hard work and dedication that comes after the love story and supposed happily ever after. Because relationships take work, and they grow and evolve and looking at it through the lens of dedicating oneself to bettering themselves for the good of their relationship and partner is so romantic in such an underrated way. The portrayal of the relationship throughout the book all felt so very real, they had struggles and issues to deal with but eventually were able to find a way to work through things in such a healthy way. Though there were also moments where they had setbacks and messed up again because they are human and that is what people do and how relationships work.
You can feel Aiden’s internal struggle throughout the book in which he can clearly start to see the issues that are occurring in the relationship but he doesn’t know how to fix it. He feels stuck at a crossroads of repairing the damage or continuing down the destructive path he feels a duty to be on. Which is what makes the portrayal of his anxiety in the book feel so very real, the thoughts you see Aiden go through and the way his panic attacks are described felt so authentic it hurt a little.
The strength of this trope and the way it is presented in this book is that it is a slow burn and almost a second chance romance within their own relationship. I adored both Aiden and Freya. You could clearly see their devotion and understanding of one another, there are just other issues that have gotten in their way. In reading a book about a couple who have been together for nearly ten years you can see the little things they’ve accumulated over time in understanding one another. Like how Freya doesn’t complain that even though they are fighting Aiden has to triple check her seatbelt on a plane to calm his anxiety or how he knows that she’s been feeling down because she hasn’t been humming around the house so goes out of his way to give her the chance to sing.
ALL OF IT JUST WARMS MY HEART.
I love a series which takes you through a whole family and I love the Bergman family with my whole heart. It's so good seeing the couples we have already met and the ones which are to come. The family have such a fun dynamic and there seriously isn't one character which is written badly they're all so strong in their own right. It was emotional seeing the way the Bergman brothers had adopted Aiden, someone who didn’t have much of a family of his own into their family and treated him as their own brother.
This series is everything to me and I cannot wait for the next one.

I have read almost all of Chloe’s books and she is such a consistently amazing writer. Each story brings something new to the romance genre. Ever After Always is book 3 in The Bergman Brothers series and these characters truly come to life on the page. The family dynamic is so enjoyable that you look forward to each book just to get more Bergman’s.
Book 3 is specifically about Freya, one of two Bergman SISTERS, and her husband Aiden. Who you will remember from Books one (meddling in Willa and Ryder’s relationship) and also the end of book 2. Freya and Aiden have been married for almost 10 years and have hit a snag in their marriage.
As someone who’s been married for 11 years I really enjoyed reading about a well established couple. Ever After Always reads a little more emotional than the previous books (for me at least) but you will still find many reasons to laugh. The Bergman brood is back and more ridiculous than ever with their hijinks, meddling and pranks.
There are so many reasons to read and love this book:
1. Honest portrayal of living with Anxiety disorder.
2. A curvy heroine who loves her body, rocks a bikini and isn’t shamed for it.
3. The usual Bergman antics.
4. We also get to see the Bergman parents more and I love what that brings to the story.
And of course there’s steaminess and dirty talk, but not just that there is physical intimacy. You see how important of a part communication plays not only to the emotional side of a relationship but also the sexual side.
Needless to say if you’re a romance lover READ THIS BOOK!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I love this series by Chloe Liese! Seriously it’s so amazing and I Stan this whole family.
That said this book hit differently than the others. It was harder to read emotionally and I’m not sure I was ready for so many enlightening moments on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Freya and Aiden have been married for almost ten years but they’re struggling. Aiden has anxiety and had a tough childhood that affects how he lives life now as an adult. Yeah that hits home, I also struggle with the same. Anxiety is such a hard thing to navigate, and if you don’t have it then it’s hard to understand and often misunderstood, or honestly most people think you’re just being ridiculous or dramatic. It’s not something you can control but only cope with. Chloe either suffers from anxiety herself or she put in the work to ensure she represented it as honestly and accurately as she could and she succeeds so well!! Not everyone’s journey is the same as Aiden’s but the heart of it is the same. I cried for him many times and honestly I was probably mostly crying for myself.
Freya is a natural born caretaker who needs words, affirmation, touch, and inclusion in order to feel love and secure in life. Ding ding ding... we have another winner because that’s me too!! Compound that with anxiety and, well let’s just say relationships and life are HARD!! I related so much to the issues Freya had in their marriage as I’ve experienced them in relationships too. When two people have different love languages relationships can be so hard and I loved to see how it plays out in this story. The therapy, the tools shown, they work out into discovering that what serves you may not serve your partner... gah this book was basically therapy in story form!!!
This book will definitely be triggering for some people, it was definitely triggering for me... but it wasn’t in a negative way but a therapeutic I’ve just been seen kind of way. It gave me hope that one day my very complicated self will find love too. And now I’m going to go have another good cry!!
TL;DR: Read all of Chloe’s books because no one I have read in contemporary romance writes real people and real love stories like her. It’s not all unlikely fairytale romance, it’s real life and it’s beautiful!!
What an absolutely incredible book. I could go on and on about Liese's gorgeous prose, depth of emotions, and fully developed characters for days and days. Ever After Always looks at a marriage in trouble, deep trouble, but makes you root for the characters from the very first page. It's heartbreaking, hilarious, and a pure joy to read.
Another stunning addition for the Bergman Brothers Series.
“At some point, every love story is a tragedy.”
This book really resonated with me. We continue to grow and change, and so does our partnerships. Relationships are hard, and they take work. This marriage in trouble book not only highlighted how we can become complacent, but also shows the hope, and work we can put in to find our happiness again.
The Bergman brothers, especially Viggo, slid into the scenes and provided some levity (with lots of laughs and smiles).
I absolutely love Chloe Liese’s approach to writing romance. She is a staunch supporter of everyone deserving a love story, and it shows brightly with every book she writes. This series has brought some of the best books I’ve read this year.
“But I love someone who’s shown me that love doesn’t give second chances because we’ve earned them. Love gives second chances because it believes the best in who we are.”
