Took me a bit to get into this one. Charlotte is angry and unsettled by all the changes in her life. I have read the previous books, and still would have benefited from more details reminding the reader though. Also, the new guy Glenn that caught her eye, didn't see the spark or need of him. Not sure why it took her so long to admit he was not for her. Maybe reading too much into this one. Did like the baby though, and liked Paul. Would recommend, and it is nice to stay caught up in the series, but not my favorite.Just felt a little disjointed, but may just be me.
I am always eager for a return trip to the Amish community of Wells Landing and to catch up on the lives of different characters, old and new! When I first met Charlotte Burkhart in a prior book, I was not a fan. She was overbearing and overprotective of her daughter Jenna. In this book Charlotte morphs into a more likeable character when she starts to realize she cannot continue to do things her way but needs to start depending on her faith in God. Only then will she find true happiness. Even though each book in the series is stand-alone you like me will look forward to a revisit.
I received a copy of the book from Net Galley. The opinions are my own.
2 stars
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series but this one,not so much. It just felt whiny.
This is a continuation of a series, focusing on Charlotte, a widow and mother of Jenna, a brain injured daughter. There’s a light hearted humor throughout the book that reflects Charlotte’s personality. There’s sn orphaned baby and suitors for Charlotte. Also, Charlotte’s daughter announces she is pregnant with her husband who has Down Syndrome.
The book moves quickly and is a light read. Down syndrome men are almost universally sterile so apparently the author is taking the miracle approach to this pregnancy. I like the series but not do much the focus on Jenna and Buddy. Fans of the series will like this book.
A New Love For Charlotte ( Wells Landing #11 )
Amy Lillard
A New Love For Charlotte is #11 in the series Wells Landing. Wow, I love this story. At times I was laughing and other times I had tears in my eyes. This is Charlotte’s story. Do you believe that love can happen at any age and time? Charlotte is doing what she thinks her heart is telling her to do. Things start to happen for Charlotte and she has some major decisions to make. Will she make the right decisions? What is right for Charlotte?
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Love can happen at any age. There are no set time limits on finding true love. In this sweet story, Charlotte makes choices based on what she believes is truly in her heart. When unexpected opportunities arise, she must decide the best path. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
I have truly loved Ms. Lillard's Amish books. I have been following these books of those in Charlotte's life, and I am enjoying the return of the characters throughout. "A New Love for Charlotte" had some wonderful surprises in it! I can honestly say that I did not know what or how much of the storyline was going to unfold until I reached each part of the story. I just love that her books aren't so predictable! This story moved right along, and the characters had wonderful depth. Once again, I felt as though I was right there within the pages joining the family in every event that took place. I will continue to seek books by this author for as long as she keeps them coming.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kensington Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Charlotte Burkhart, is a widower who lives with her Mother-in-law Nadine. Nadine will soon marry Amos. Charlotte feels alone her daughter Jenna married buddy and now Nadine will soon marry. Charlotte meets Glenn and declares she will marry him. Her best friend Paul lives across the yard from her and is in love with her. but Charlotte does not see it. It is a nice story of a love triangle. This is the 11th book in this series.
I found the book trite and predictable. I did not like the characters nor the direction I saw the plot going. DNF after 50 pages. No published review
Charlotte Burkhart, who is widower. She lives with her mother in law Nadine, who will be married to Amos soon. Charlotte feels like she is just moving through life. Her daughter Jenna, has just gotten married to Buddy. Paul is her neighbor and has feelings for Charlotte but doesn’t want to mess up their friendship. Charlotte meets Glenn and declares to herself that she is going to marry him. One day a baby is left on her doorstep, named Amber. Charlotte has to learn to have faith that everything will work out for the good. This is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books-Zebra for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
A New Love for Charlotte is a good read. especially if you have read the previous books by Amy Lillard. This is a continuation of her other books, but can definitely be a stand alone novel. Charlotte has a great friendship with Paul, her neighbor, which she is very thankful for. Her daughter has married, and her mother in law is getting married, and she is feeling all alone. She meets up with Glenn, from a neighboring district. She feels that she will marry him, and he does eventually ask her. But then a stranger leaves a baby on her front porch one night. She is happy and enthusiastic about her, but Glenn isn't. He feels he has raised all of his kids and doesn't really want to deal with it. They break up, and Charlotte feels like she will lose the baby forever.. Then, her best friend and neighbor, Paul, who has admired her for some time, gets her attention. Great story! Fun and clean!
