The Most Eligible Viscount in London by Ella Quinn
Rating: 1-star
Summary: Gavin proposes to Georgie. She is in love with him. He does not want to fall in love because his father did and after his mother died his father became destructive. He proposes but cannot tell her he loves her, so she says no. He is flabbergasted. He cannot figure out what to do.
Overall opinion:
This book was not for me. In fact, I wanted to give it a meh 2-star rating, but as I write this I think of all the times the book could have taken off and been something and just did not. Honestly, the hero was annoying, the heroine needed a backbone, and there seemed to be ample opportunity for this story to go somewhere but it fell flat in my opinion (not to mention the sex scene which was awful). You have a scheming grandmother and Duchess involved and it just screamed of matchmaking mischief (supposedly these characters have already helped other couples find their happily ever after in other related novels). But no, not really. They give the hero a few lectures and eventually tell him to kiss (if not full out compromise) the heroine as the solution to figuring out he loves her.
Then, you have a rival peer who needs a rich wife. He thinks Georgie is hot and is willing to tell her whatever she wants to hear to get her to marry him. His servants kidnap her and then FINALLY Gavin decides he loves her (after she saves herself by jumping from a carriage).
Also, per the title, Gavin is supposed to be some sought after Viscount. Maybe it is because most of the book takes place at a house party/the country, but it felt like an odd title for the actual plot. Maybe I am overthinking this?
I do not recommend this book. It is the first I have read by Ms. Quinn and I hope this is just a one off for me as I have other novels of her in my queue to read.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a fun read. The hero is obviously one of those will give you everything except my love kind. But I liked that Georgie refused him and made him work for it.

It also helps that the story is set over a reasonable period of time rather everything being hastily concluded in 3-4 days.

The grandmother and her friends were great too!

One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was that Georgie has a support system. Too many women settle for pittance because they don't have a choice. Gavin made a solid effort and earned her hand. I really liked that!

4 stars because even months later, I still remember quite a bit of the story. It certainly stands out.

The Most Eligible Viscount in London by Ella Quinn is a nice little story about a proposal gone wrong and what happens after she says no, even though she wants to say yes. It’s the second book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. It’s a fun little book, and I was entertained, but I couldn’t help but hope for just a bit more.

Viscount Gavin Turley thinks he’s found the woman he can spend his life with, and tells her so with business-like efficiency. He sounds like he’s offering her a position in his household instead of a lifetime as his wife (granted, they’re kind of one in the same). She wants love, joy, happiness, and he offers her lust, companionship, and a great retirement plan… I mean support for the rest of her life. Not exactly what she wants, so she turns him down. And here we are.

Georgie wants to be loved and refuses to settle for less. Gavin thinks love is destructive, seeing how his father was so badly effected by his mother’s death. He’ll settle for a tolerable match with someone he can get along with. When she says no, he needs to figure out how to get her to yes. Add in friends, relations, and a grandmother, and you can’t help expect a happily ever after. A slow burn romance, I found myself setting my kindle down from time to time, which disappointed me. I wanted to adore this book, since the opening was so fantastic. But after a while, I would stop, set down my kindle, and come back in a day or two and start reading. It’s a fun book, but I guess I was hoping for more.

Overall, I liked this book. The premise is great, the characters are believable. I just wished I loved this book. 3 stars.

I’ve had the worst luck in finding a Historical that I’m completely blown away with. This one, unfortunately does not break that spell..

This book was yet another boring courtship for me. I don’t know if it’s just because they were technically already together or if it was just the writing, but I just could not care for these characters. I did continue to read it as I hoped I would eventually get into the story, but it never happened.

In the end, I gave this one a 2 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy romances with couples who fight for each other in an already-existing relationship, I think this one would be for you, but for me, I just didn’t have that pining and spiciness that I tend to enjoy from my romances.

In Ella Quinn's The Most Eligible Viscount in London, the 2nd installment in the Lords of London historical romance series, this romantic love story would leave you with all the feels. For Georgiana "Georgie" Featherton, all she wanted was a romantic proposal from Viscount Gavin Turley after their courtship. But when he proposed to her, she declined to accept it since didn't care for her or love her at all. And that left her brokenhearted when she decided to take a holiday with her folks and stay with Lady Adeline Littleton, her closest friend, when she told them about the unromantic proposal. That left Gavin confused on why she turned him down. So he sought for advice from his friends and her matchmaking grandmother and aunt and their friend. To win her back, he had to woo her when she attended the same parties and raced horses together for sport while they got to know each other better. But there's a rival who wants Georgie's attentions, Lord Marc Lytton, to become his wife. It's up to Gavin to win her heart first before he comes after her. The more time they spend together, the more they realized they belong together until a failed kidnapping attempt had happened that made him realize how much he wants Georgie as his own and to rescue her with his undying love to win her hand for her to have her happily ever after in the ending.

The Most Eligible Viscount in London by Ella Quinn is book 2 of the Lords of London and was a delightful read. Having met our main characters Gavin, Viscount Turley and Georgie Featherton in earlier books I was under the impression that we would simply be finding out how they came to be a matched pair and that the story was going to be perhaps their adventure as they head to the altar but nope, this story turns out to be a completely different spin.
Now though I credit the author for trying to not follow the expected path, of all other romances, the one chosen for these two leaves one confused at times, frustrated and enjoying the secondary characters almost more so than the main ones. Having said that I gave the book a higher score than the 2 stars it warranted because those secondary characters were vibrant and well developed. When it comes to the match between Gavin and Georgie, it literally took a village that brings about a lot of humorous moments to the reader.

This was a very cute historical romance. I liked that this was a slow-burn but also not, due to the characters previous relationship. I think the romance plot was pretty interesting and the characters were pretty fun. I did think that the end of the book was a bit rushed and felt all smooshed together. I also thought that the constantly changing POVs was a bit confusing. Sometimes I did not feel that there was a clear indication of who was the new narrator.

Ella Quinn has written a delightful Regency romance in The Most Eligible Viscount in London. Viscount Gavin Turley proposes marriage to Georgie Featherton, but is turned down as he cannot commit to loving her. This Regency romp follows Georgie and Gavin as they work their way to an engagement on mutually satisfactory terms with the help of their scheming relatives. Great reading for a rainy afternoon.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. The Most Eligible Viscount in London is the second book in Ella Quinn’s charming The Lords of London series. When Viscount Gavin Turley proposes to Miss Georgiana Featherton, the lady he’s been courting, he certainly does not expect her to turn him down. Georgie will only marry for love, and Gavin has vowed never to fall in love. A house party gives him a second chance to win her as his bride, and with the help of matchmaking relatives and time spent with the lady in question, he may just find that love is exactly what he needs. I found this an enjoyable read and do recommend it as well as the first book in the series. I received an advanced copy of this book by Ella Quinn from Netgalley. Thks was an enjoyable read, a story of love between Gavin and Georgie; about dreams and expectations. A nice read!

Cute read! Nothing really happened, but there were someone interesting characters I enjoyed reading about. This story would have probably made a better novella, there just wasn’t enough to warrant a full length story.

I received this book to review. This book is funny and enjoyable. It flows easily and not stifling. It keeps your attention and the cast is quirky. I loved the grandmothers….they know best. The is the 2nd story in a series but can stand on its own. The first one was very entertaining as well. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book made me feel like I was stuck on a slow moving merry go round waiting for it to pick up speed and get moving. Nothing was happening except talk about minutia. Unfortunately, it was just to slow for me.

This is my first book in this series, and I felt like I was dropped into a book in chapter 6. We are introduced to the hero and heroine while he is proposing quite poorly. Georgina is in love with Gavin, but he is clueless. He then sets out on his quest to redeem himself in her eyes, while still protesting that he is not in love with her. I had some issues getting into this book, because of how the story started. Overall I liked it.

If you have read this authors entire back catalogue and are looking for a place where you will meet all of your favourite characters again, this may be for you. I have read 2 of this authors books from a different series in the past and had enjoyed them. This is the second in this series, but I felt like there was so much a had missed out on because there were SO many characters that we meet briefly or are mentioned and you get the feeling like you *should* know who these people are but don't. And as the second book in the series and these characters are talked about getting the HEA, you know they are from a different series.

My other gripe about this book is that after the disastrous proposal over the first couple pages, the main couple aren't on the page together again until the 25% mark! what the heck. This book literally put me to sleep every night after a couple pages because of the lack of action on the page. I was just meeting a bunch of characters that had little to do with anything and by the time the do get into the same setting together I couldn't care less about them.

I had to DNF at 25%, it took me 8 days to get that far. le sigh.

Review The most eligible Viscount in London by Ella Quinn

Viscount Gavin Turley is a suitor for Miss Geogie Featherton she falls in love with him and he issues a very practical marriage proposal with no mention of love! She proceeds to turn him down as she will only marry for love and tells him he will have prove he loves her before she will accept his proposal.

A well written historical romance which
gets off to a good start but falls flat in the middle.

There were a few potentially interesting characters but their storylines were a bit half hearted and if they had been expanded on a little it would made for a slightly more interesting book.

Not a bad book overall just a bit slow in parts and you could easily loose focus.

Not like Ella Quinn’s previous novels. If you like an easy going historical romance this will fit the bill. I just expected slightly more.

The game of love can be very confusing for Georgie and Gavin in The Most Eligible Viscount in London. Georgie will only marry for love so when Gavin botches his marriage proposal rejects his proposal. Gavin swears never to marry for love and he can't figure out why Georgie won't settle for being friends! Gavin asks for a second chance to prove himself but both are uncertain about how to go about it. Ella Quinn has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, good dialogue and with a enjoyable plot.

This is an interesting and at times engaging story. I really liked that Georgie was so strong and knew what she wanted and worked to get it. I also loved the horse Lilly, and Georgie’s handling of her. A lovely bond between woman and horse.

I wasn’t a big fan of Gavin, he struck me as very young. He wants Georgie but doesn’t want to love anyone. He wants help but doesn’t really accept it. He also doesn’t seem to know his desires intended very well, it makes one wonder if he even saw her as a person while they were in town.

I also felt like there were entirely too many side characters. I liked Lytton and Aurelia but none of the other side characters seemed to add to the plot other than to offer suggestions for how to get one to fall in love or marry the other. It felt very busy and didn’t seem to add anything meaningful.

Even a regency lady longs for love and has the right to reject her suitor who thinks of marriage as a business proposal even if she is madly in love with the gentleman and has been waiting for the proposal. No sooner does Georgie decline the honor than a heartbroken Gavin is trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it because he can't imagine anyone else as his wife.  With a beginning like that this story is set to be a sparkling fun regency romp aided and abetted by Georgie's friends and family, but...
After such an awesome beginning the story fell flat and became bland with daily visits, parties and just life in the countryside in that time period. Gavin is earnest and determined to redeem himself but scared about the concept of love and losing his heart.   Georgie's grandmother and her friends plot to bring Gavin up to scratch while figuring out the the working of his heart. Gavin's friend takes his role of chaperone very seriously and is definitely not on Gavin's side. Georgie herself is determined to make Gavin sweat and work for each inch he gains with her.
There are some cute funny moments but for the most part the story is bland and the pace is a bit slow for me.
