This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a lighthearted and mysterious romance, with a dash of nostalgia and a thrilling whodunit mystery, as they follow the rekindling of a long-lost love between a supermodel and a retired Army Ranger as they navigate the twists and turns of a murder investigation on a picturesque island.
It was an interesting premise but it kind of went sideways a few chapters in and I got bored an flipped through chapters.
A Fantastic Suspense Romance .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Endangered Diamond . This story is intriguing from the start . Olivia Diamond is a retired model . When she finds a woman's body on her private beach and she looks an awful lot like her . She needs a bodyguard . Not just any bodyguard she wants the man she never stopped loving from her teenage years . Declan Keene works for The Brotherhood Protectors after retiring from the Navy Seals . As Declan protects Olivia the danger maybe closer than they realize .the feelings that they never got to experience are still there . Declan will have to save Olivia . This story is suspenseful and action packed . I highly recommend reading .
Sometimes, like with Endangered Diamond, I wonder if I read the same book as other reviewers. For me, the book had promising bones, but in the end, it just wasn't up to scratch.
Olivia Diamond is a retired supermodel living on Nantucket. She finds her doppelganger dead on her beach. Enter Declan Keene. They knew each other way back when, but then he went into the military and she was"discovered." They haven't spoken in maybe 20 years, but she insists on hiring Declan as her bodyguard. Will he forgive her for not waiting for him? Will he figure out who the murderer is in time to save her?
Well, duh. It's a romance, so it's not a spoiler to say yes and yes. Romance readers almost always get their HEA; the worth of a story is in its telling. This story, however, has very little telling at all. It unfolds in a couple of days, with very little emotion expended. We don't really get to know the characters well at all. Most of what we know of Olivia's past comes in a couple of paragraphs that summarize what Declan reads in her as-yet-unpublished "memoir" (really an autobiography, if you want to split hairs). Of Declan, we know nothing at all apart from the fact he was in the military. I'm not a fan of flashbacks or of books that start in the past and then move to the present, but I think either one of those would have been a good option for Endangered Diamond. As it is, I don't dislike the characters, but neither am I emotionally invested.
The whole story is told rather quickly, with gaps in the telling. The climax and subsequent conclusion, too, are too fast and choppy. There was no time for any tension to build (emotional, physical, or drama related tension), so perhaps that's why it was able to conclude so quickly.
It's not a poorly told story, and I think that if the writer had more time and pages, the basic plot could be fleshed out into something good. But as it is right now, Endangered Diamond was just a nice but forgettable story.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
There was plenty of action. Livvy has retired from being a super model and living on Nantucket. Delcan was called in to protect her when a dead woman was found on her beach. Her and Delcan knew each other in Montana before he went into the serivce. Someone is targeting her that is why Delcan is there. Pretty good book but did not like the ending.
A very nice addition to Hank Patterson’s Brotherhood Protectors with just the right amount of romance and suspense. After retired supermodel Olivia Diamond finds a body on the beach, she is urged to hire a bodyguard as the deceased woman could have been her twin. Olivia is writing her memoire, could this have something to do with her book? She requests the only man she will feel safe with, Declan Keene. Declan, a retired Army Ranger, is now working security with the Brotherhood Protectors. He has known Olivia for years and once thought she would be waiting for him when he returned from his first deployment, but life intervened. Once again, their attraction flares out of control as the police look for the person who wants her dead. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. I love the entire Brotherhood Protection world and this is another superb read in that world. A story that has the requisite suspense dram and romance to keep me turning the pages I read it in one sitting
Olivia Diamond, a retired fashion model is in the process of writing her memoir after retiring to Nantucket Island. With many not wanting the memoir published and a woman that looks just like found dead on her private beach she is advised to bring in private protection by the local police She knows who to call Declan Keene. He was her schoolyard sweetheart and life caused them to separate he went in to the military while she entered the world of fashion but he is now retired and working for The Brotherhood Protectors and he doesn't hesitate to come to her aid. Will the spark still be there between them and who wants to silence Olivia You will have to read this fast paced read to solve the mystery
I am a huge fan of the Brotherhood Protectors series and must say this story from the World was just as good and one I just couldn’t put down.
Olivia Diamond, a former supermodel, is now living in Nantucket and writing her memoir. When during her morning beach walk she finds a dead woman who looks like her, the police realize she might be in danger and needs a bodyguard.
The only man she trusts is the one she last saw 20 years ago. The one she never forgot and has always loved.
Declan Keene, is now a retired Army Ranger working for Hank Patterson, owner of Brotherhood Protectors. He has mixed feelings about seeing his Livvy after all these years, but knows he has to go and protect her.
The attraction and love is still there , but he has a job to do.
This fast paced book has an engaging plot, an unknown murderer, romance and well developed characters.
A great addition to the the series and the World.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Twisted Page Press. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
