I don't often read short works collections, but I am very glad I tried this one. Helen Ellis' collection of essays is just the thing to bring some sunshine when you need it. Some of the stories made me laugh out loud, others made me smile, and still more made me nod my head in agreement. Definitely one to recommend.
I don't know, I guess that I am not the target audience for this type of book. I did not find it amusing, clever, or enjoyable. It seemed rather petty and mean. If this is what passes for humor amongst women of this age (of which I am in the same age group), I am glad that I am not exposed to it. Sorry!
Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!
I had never read a book by Helen Ellis, and after reading this I want to go back and read all her other stories! Such fun short essays about her life and best friends, the good times and the bad. Loved the honesty and quirkiness that she shares in her writing.
This is the second book of Helen's that I've read and her humor is so sharp, I loved it. It was a very quick read filled with antidotes of friends we've met before and stories of her husband and family. I really like her tone and her writing style. This will be a very quick fun read. Perfect for a pool day!
