DNF/Won't Be Reading

I ended up DNFing the first book in this series, Calypso's Heart, so I won't be giving this on a try. I was not jiving with the author's writing style. The synopsis of the first book sounded really good, so I may try again in the future.

I could not connect to these characters. They felt flat to me. Did not finish. I will say I did not read series so it’s possible that created the problem

Oh wow first time reading, I am hooked. Just the right amount of on the edge of your seat suspense. Handsome heroes and heroines. Throw in a couple cute cuddly animals and you have a book work reading. Now what happens to, hmmmm read the book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

This one was not for me. I found the dialogs and some character behaviours too juvenile for me. Also, if Keena was a mind healer, how was it that she couldn't read Liam's strong emotional reactions to her dating Rhyker? I am not familiar with empathic characters.

This book was so loooong. Really... long. It actually does not matter how long a book is, as long as you are intrigued enough to keep on reading and the pages fly by. Well, I am sorry but they did not.

The story is good, steamy, did I mention it is too long?, with interesting characters and world building. But I can't seem to pinpoint a story arc, as there doesn't seem to really be one. The cover is great and ... well.. Rhyker is too :-)

This is another huge book (700 pages) in this series., but I wouldn't have it another way. The crew is back and they are awesome. I really, really love these characters, like all of them. In the first book Rhyker was just Rhyland's brother for me, like ok, you are the brute twin and nothing more. I was so wrong. Rhyker is a loving, smart and amazing male. On the other hand, Keena was not my favorite in this book. She is a mess for a mind healer. I wouldn't trust her to even cure a migraine. She should stop thinking actually, and go and find another mind healer for her, that would save us some time. She is so lucky that Rhyker is her mate and we can't do anything but love her for that.
What I love about these books, is that the story is not focusing on one couple. We actually see all the characters and their POVs, so you don't get to miss them.
I won't rate this book higher than the first book, maybe 3,5 instead of 3, because everyone's inner thoughts are killing me. I just wanted to grab them and shake some sense into them. But well, noone is purrfect right?!
Of we go to Deacon's Star.It will be out soonish!!

ARC from NetGalley

2.5 stars

Fucking hell this book is unnecessarily long. Normally, I am pro long book. More bang for the book buck, but this was too long. There was so much inane bullshit that should have been trimmed. The MCs get together like immediately. There was no suspense. The rest of the book is just them randomly fucking and glimpses into the lives of the other characters, setting the stage for further books where they will be the MCs.

The book isn't well-written. It's not awful, but it needs work. The repetitive language... Pregnant pause, pregnant pause, pregnant pause. Fucking hell. Also, 'you're so bad!" My eyes nearly vacated my head with the rolling. It has that stereotypical paranormal romance ultra macho bro talk that I loathe and also referred to everyone as male and female, which like... why?

I can't even tell you the plot. There is no solid plot. We are flitting around the proverbial grocery store, here and there, grabbing random things and ending up at home with a bunch of ingredients and nothing to make, but our cupboards are full!

It wasn't awful, but it wasn't good, and if I had a redo, I wouldn't read it again. It needs another round of edits and an editor with a machete to whack through the bush of extra words and trim this shit down to a more reasonable 300 or something pages instead of the fucking 741?? Ugh.

4 book-hangover Stars

I'm not entirely sure what happened yesterday. I know that I spoke to people and took care of my family (taking care of family meaning I fed them PB&J for dinner), and I think I might have even had a work call at some point.
But it's gone, all I remember from yesterday is Rhyker. And oh are they good memories.

I mean the guy is almost 7 ft tall, is covered in tattoos, and shifts into a gigantic jaguar that you can actually ride.

He is by far my favorite hero in this series. His twin Rhyland being a close 2nd, but seriously I'm a sucker for that tattooed bad boy vibe.

There is so much going on in this paranormal story that you can't really talk about it without giving away anything. You definitely need to read the first book before diving into this book - so if you are at this point, I don't need to talk about all the characters since you read the first one, right?

But I will tell you what I loved and hated about this story.

Loved:

1. Rhyker and Keena - their chemistry, their personalities - everything about them was amazing to me. Not once was I mad at them. I felt their connection from the start and loved watching their relationship grow.

2. The mystery and suspense aspects throughout the whole book are so good - like I said there is a lot going on, and as soon as one issue gets resolved something else takes its place.

3. I loved how she pulls you into all the characters and their development, and you still get a glimpse at the previous one while reading. This book is told in someone in everyone's POV - she does a decent job in most chapters bouncing between characters to give you a full view of what is going on.

4. The world building and power abilities. She doesn't leave anything out. Sometimes is quite long winded and might give a little too much description about it, but when you are done with this book there is not a question about this world she has built.

Hated:

1. While I can't imagine taking out most of the book, there was definitely a lot of "details" that just weren't necessary. And actually I think because she was putting so much effort into building this world there were a lot of "errors" or things that didn't make sense.

2. The Nico and Aleie storyline - they are what I believe will be book 4 and 5. While having their POVs was somewhat necessary for this story - we spent way, way too much time with them. Sadly that is one of my major pet peeves in books and it always bring down a star for me. I don't mind getting little quick chapters or side thoughts, but when I start to completely forget about my main characters because we spent 5 chapters with another couple, I'm a little frustrated.

In the end this was another awesome read by this newer author, who in my opinion is going to do amazing things in her career - especially when she can start fine tuning her work. I can't wait to continue in this world and hopefully the next book will have a little more of my loves and a little less of my hates in it.

If you are looking for a big series to dive into with amazing characters, huge world building and enthralling storyline that tracks through the entire series, definitely give this these Bad Boys of The Orion a chance!

I loved this book. I am just in love with the characters and the world, and I cannot wait to have all the books out already. Rhyker and Keena's romance was something I was very much excited about from book one.

In this second book, we have Keena, a mind healer that is friends with all the pack as we saw in the previous book. She has a tragic past involving her parents that shaped her future and her relationships, and when she meets Rhyker, she is not sure she is ready to be with him. Keena was an intriguing character, from her background to her teaching yoga, and seeing her grow to trust her partner and develop a loving relationship was all I wanted for her. She is a very real character with real struggles, so it's easy to relate to her and like her.
And then there is Rhyker, the bad boy of the pack. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a tall, dark, and handsome type of guy, shifter in this case. I like to think Rhyker is a big teddy jaguar because, from the first time he saw Keena, he wanted her and did a lot to be with her, despite the reservations he had. He is sweet at the same time he is fierce and protective. He loves Keena and does all he can to help her realize they are right for each other. His faith in then was beautiful.

The only thing I will say is that I did expect more of their relationship evolving. After they moved in together, I was expecting minor conflicts and all that comes with sharing someones' space, but I was not satisfied with this part. Instead, we got a lot more from other character's POV, which I did not mind at all, and I am so looking forward to the romance that I hope to read more about as soon as the author releases it.
One thing I loved was that there is a lot about the couple from book one, so I'm not upset over not seeing the relationship develop between Keena and Rhyker because I am sure they will participate a lot in the next book, and I will be able to see them again.

The second book in the series, now focusing on Keena Oliver, a healer, and Rhyker Kingsley, a jaguar shifter. The story follows them as they tow the line between friendship and something more, all the while also having multiple plots going on and switching to various other member’s POVS. This book has a LOT of POVS and would definitely be better if you read the first book in order to get a better grasp of the second one. The main story involves Keena and Rhyker getting together, and both dealing with their toxic and abusive exes. It’s a fun story to read and since I’ve read the first book it was nice to revisit a lot of the characters from the first book and their continuing journey. I am 100% on board for Nico and Aliena, and can’t wait to read their story. I had a lot of fun reading this book and it was interesting to see where the story lines were going. It’s a fun series to read and if you like paranormal romance with a splash of action and mystery this would be right up your alley!

irst off I want to say huge thank you to the publisher and author M.C. Solaris LLC for inviting me to read review the second book to a series that I love. What can I say about this book but I loved everything about it. I loved the inter action between the twins, and Rhyker and the team, loved how they felt more of a family in this one , and loved how it mad me laugh. And I loved how the this one was a step up from the first one, don't get me wrong I loved the first one but out of the two this one so far is my all time favorite one and its not just because we got to see more of the twins ( or so maybe a little bit but what can I say their may all time favorite ones ). Another thing is the characters are richer and rounder and come to life more then before , the plot thicker and so is the twist and turns , the mysteries deeper, and the sex hotter and I do mean hotter , so much so that you could almost feel it coming from the page. And you get to see more of the world building and finding out more about it and how their laws work as well. With that said I can wait to read the next book in this series.
