I was taken in by the genre and the premise, but sadly, I find this book not to my taste.
Lily Weiss, 32-year old journalism major and spinster has been roped in as a bridesmaid for five weddings, including that of her younger siblings. So over the next few months, Lily has to juggle bridesmaid responsibilities and conflicting schedules along with her dwindling bank balance while also battling conflicting emotions regarding her own single status amidst so many happy-everafters.
While I was expecting a rom-com, this book was anything but. Even at 65% there was barely a hint of romance and comedy was non-existent. I love a snarky heroine with a self-deprecating humour. But Lily was downright mean and just plain jealous. Though she may have proved herself to be a good friend or daughter at several points, her woe-is-me attitude was annoying. The writing flow was good which made for smooth reading, but sadly there were no likeable characters apart from Alex. I found the blog to be appalling; yes, it was a medium for Lily to vent her emotions, but the fact that all of her emotions were so negative and whiny quickly got grating.
Overall, a disappointing read. Thanks to Netgalley for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a FUN read, and if I had a friend getting married this would be attached to their gift.
This is the story is 32-year-old Lily, who is about to be a bridesmaid in 5 weddings. Between the familial drama of her own life and joining new friend groups, this book felt both realistic and slightly exaggerated but mostly was just a solid and enjoyable read.
You could finish this in one sitting easily, and I laughed out loud a few times! I loved the banter between Alex and Lily.
Thank you for this ARC.
When Lily gets asked to be a bridesmaid in 5 different weddings over the course of 2 months, things unravel pretty quickly. Each bride poses different challenges to Lily, who has to navigate overbearing moms, extremely rude other bridesmaids, and her own family drama as 2 of the weddings are for her brother and sister. She ends up starting a blog to chronicle the events, because some are just too absurd and awful to be true.
I really liked the premise of this story, and also loved the love interest, Alex, and the romance storyline between him and Lily! However, many of the other characters were just so awful! Granted, that was the point, that there were bridezillas and bridesmaidzillas and mother-of-the-bridezillas that Lily had to deal with, but at some points it just took away from the story for me. I would definitely check out other books by this author, and would recommend this one if you are looking for a quick, easy, and entertaining read!
For the Love of Friends is both serious and funny and a great read for any woman. It kept my attention from start to finish and I cared for most of the characters.
I enjoyed For the Love of Friends by Sarah Goodman Confino. I look forward to reading more books by her.
I received a free digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book. The writing was funny and the main character was likable. I did see the whole Alex debacle coming, but otherwise a lot of the book felt fresh and funny. There was a lot of forgiveness and love in this book- after all the snarkiness- which helps make the happy ending even better. It was easy to like the characters you were supposed to like and despise the ones you were supposed to like!
This is not your typical rom-com nor chiicklit fiction. It is funny and witty and also emotional! This is also my first Sara Goodman Confino’s book. Lily is so easy to love as a character. She is a talented writer , smart , caring, humorous and gets all the spot on drama of wedding planning. She can be impulsive but she gets on her big girl pants and become responsible. Bridesmania can be a good blog to visit! I am satisfied for the ending. All is well in a happy loving world!
Thanks #netgalley for the advance readers copy in exchange of honest review
This is Sara's debut book and I hope to read more by her! Poor Lily has an overbearing mother who would love to see her married. Lily gets asked to be a bridesmaid for 5 different brides and starts describing her experience on a blog. I'd be petrified of being in that many weddings so close together and can't imagine remaining sane. Loved this plot, writing was great, and the book kept me entertained throughout. I actually read it in one day because I just couldn't put it down!
I really enjoyed this book!

Lily is 32 years old, hopelessly single, and working in a job she doesn’t love. Within a short span, she’s asked to be a bridesmaid in FIVE weddings (legit my worst nightmare 😆) with two being her younger sibling’s. It’s all fun and games until things quickly become unmanageable. Everyone’s personalities come to light and her to-do list of responsibilities seems never ending. Think catty bridesmaids, bossy mother of the brides, demanding brides, and a nagging mother.
Lilly starts a blog anonymously to unleash her built up resentment and share all of the woes of being in five back-to-back weddings. I smiled, laughed out loud, and genuinely enjoyed Lilly as a character- she was both relatable and likable. This book was the perfect combo of friendship, wedding drama, romance, and humor.
Thank you @netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review! This is the first book from @saraconfino and I’m excited to read more of her work in the future! Be on the lookout- pub date of 08.01.21!
If you like rom coms, snarky blogs or over the top wedding drama, you’ll enjoy this book. This was a quick read that kept my attention and put me in a good mood.
* Initially I was a bit disappointed by the way the blog took a back seat in the storyline. For the first half of the book it sort of felt like it was irrelevant - it does tie in much better in the end but I couldn’t help feeling like I wanted more of it early on. The blog posts were the funniest parts!
* Some of these characters! Wow, they really were absolutely horrible. There were chapters that were actually hard for me to read because I found the characters so incredibly annoying, the author really managed to make me feel strongly about some of these women.
* The ending was pretty predictable, but it’s not a thriller, so nobody was expecting a huge twist. I actually liked that it wasn’t a complete happy ending because I do find that to be a bit boring at times.
* Overall, I enjoyed the book. It’s a funny, relatively lighthearted read. I would likely read another book by this author.
I really enjoyed this book, especially having lived through two or three summers where everyone I knew was getting married and expected the hen do/dress fitting/expensive hoopla. This book was funny and real and I definitely recommend it. Thanks NetGalley!
I was only a bridesmaid once, and that put me off having any in my own wedding. Being a single thirty something when all your friends get married, right up there with depressing life stuff. I really felt for Lily. At 32, she is single and somehow a bridesmaid at 3 friends weddings. Things deteriorate when both her younger brother and then younger sister also announce their engagements and ask her to be part of the wedding party. It’s no wonder that Lily gets a bit drunk and can’t remember the events of the evening. But Lily finds her voice when the wedding planning gets going. Pity that the voice isn’t too complimentary about her friends and family. I enjoyed this story. It’s a pretty light read but deals with that time in life when all seems pretty hopeless.
I loved this so much I read it twice. Very clever plot, well-written characters and very real. Funny, sarcastic and cute all at once. Don't take my word for it - read it!
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
I loved it. It was some what predictable but I didn’t mind that. I loved Lily and her struggle to self awareness seemed very authentic. I thoroughly enjoyed her 32 year old, stressed out bridesmaid experience. Not being in that position myself at her age, I imagine I would have shared some of the same snarky feelings. I’m not sure what that says about me? I also found the family dynamic in the story very real and relatable.
I have been struggling being drawn in by books in the last year and I couldn’t put this one down. It will be a great beach read this summer. Can’t wait to see what else this author writes. I am a fan.
Oh my! This book is awesome! Of course, any book that starts out with mentioning waking up next to Leonardo DiCaprio, is a must-read! The snark and sarcasm was amazing. The main character, Lily, is blogging her way through several weddings, complete with Bridezillas, Botox, crazy moms, and a lovable naked grandma. I laughed so hard at some points, my kids asked me if I was okay! And while it all blew up for Lily in the end, I love how the story tied up all the loose ends and made me smile. I was surprised by the ending though, figured some thing was odd about the whole groomsman situation, but never expected THAT! I really hope Sara comes back with a follow-up - maybe Lily's wedding with all her friends pregnant and crazy! This is a definite must read! One of my favorite new books!
Thank you to NetGalley for a digital copy of this book to review.
This may just be my new favorite rom-com.
The pace was perfect, the story was cute, the writing was wonderful.
I am very much looking forward to buying this when it comes to print and sharing it with all my girlfriends. A perfect beach read. Bravo.
This was such a quick, enjoyable read! For the Love of Friends was funny, heartfelt and honest. Lily Weiss was such a relatable character, especially as someone who is still unmarried in their 30s and all their friends seem to be getting married. This has strong 27 Dresses vibes. I will say this book is pop culture heavy, so if pop culture references aren’t your thing, it could possibly go over your head. Also, this wasn’t a genre-bending book and the plot twist was pretty predictable from the start. That didn’t take away from the good time of the book and the relationships that formed throughout the story.
*An e-copy of this book was kindly provided to me by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this very much! It's obviously a romance, what with the main character being a bridesmaid in FIVE weddings all around the same time. But the romance takes a back seat to the rest of the story; this is more of a character study of Lily Weiss.
All of these characters are beautifully flawed and realistic. And they all had distinct voices. Add to that a fast-paced plot and it's a lovely read. Sure, the situation Lily found herself in isn't the most realistic but everything else was solid. The introspection and work/family struggles Lily went through really it home for me. The end wasn't a surprise but it was a pleasure seeing how it came about.
I'd happily recommend this to anyone looking for a more lighthearted read!
This book had been on my radar for the past 2 months and I was so excited to get a chance to read it early. This book was hilarious and so sweet! It was an easy read, the writing flowed so well. I love all the movie and book references.
Essentially, Lily is asked to be a bridesmaid for 5 separate weddings and they all happen within 3 months of each other. The amount of drama that happens in the wedding parties is so incredible that she starts to blog it (for extra money and to vent). Lily’s life and writing style for her blog is very entertaining.
A little romancing happening amidst the bride chaos. It’s light through the story. The brides, the blog, and the drama is definitely the focus in the book. However, romancing has a very sweet and shocking end. Some information gets revealed that I did NOT expect!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This book in my opinion is a fresh of breath air to me just simple because it is a girl discovering herself and this not a insta romance. I did slightly cringe at the ending, personally I felt like she didn't have to apologize so much for the Bridezillas or so called friends make her feel. But in a way there was a point to be true to yourself and to others without being mean about it. I love the love story. The sense of humor and the chemistry between Alex and Lilly. It was a friendship that developed into a romance that made it very sweet and I wanted more to read.
The only thing I wished that can be changed is writing font. The reason I say that is because there is a lot of texting conversations. Within the same paragraph there could be a text message sentence then her POV. So it made it very difficult to follow. Italicize or bold it or something. Anything so it stands out better that they are texting.
I loved the cover and I also loved the story. The main character was so relatable for me and I liked where she went. I normally don't like women's fiction, but in that regard, it was fine.
