Great representation in the transgender and nonbinary characters. A very cute summer love story that plays with the tropes of rom-coms.
Heartwarming and beautifully crafted. This one will make you smile. Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an Advance Copy.
I very much so enjoyed this novel. The characters are well crafted and memorable, most importantly they are realistic. Meet Cute Dairy provides a diverse list of characters who are finding themselves. While maybe not the best situation, the main character, Noah, is able to find his way through dating and friendship and shows growth by the end. I will definitely be recommending this to others. A good recommendation for those seeking a book with trans characters and someone who uses neo-pronouns.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me an advanced copy of this book to read and review.
First off I just want to say that Becca and Devin are the heroes of this book. It was an interesting story of a trans boy who keeps an online blog of fake meet cutes. He gets wrapped up in a fake dating scheme. Trouble springs forth, jealousy arises, best friend problems are on the back burner. How will our main character handle it? Well, he doesn’t. Not well at least. And that’s where Devin and Becca swoop in to make it all better. I appreciate them, and without them I would not have enjoyed this story,
Received a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley.
Eh. This book was a big MEH for me. Plot sounded amazingly cute, the cover looked adorable, the actual story was blah. The MC was incredibly unlikeable and didn’t feel like it achieved what was described. I saw a summary compare this to a Becky Albertali and that’s not the vibes it gave me at all.
While the story concept was cute, the main character was a bit unbearable. Additionally, readers from the trans community have issue with this story, and that is important to listen to.
Really adorable fake dating book with so many different characters / will definitely read more of Emery Lee's work. So cute!
A super cute and diverse YA romance that wormed it’s way into my heart. Totality delightful and charming as well
Noah may be annoying, but I loved witnessing his growth as he learned about his own needs and his boundaries. This book is funny and touching, with romance galore that made me swoon and sigh. This is necessary rep for kids who aren't perfect and aren't trying to be.
I did not enjoy this book. Noah as a main character was pretty unlikable and entitled. It was disappointing because this was one of my highly anticipated reads.
I couldn’t get through this one. The writing style seemed very immature and it just didn’t grab my attention, unfortunately
I am disappointed with this book. I was expecting one thing and received another. It had potential but it was not well written.
Loved the representation in this book. This book was a delight to read. It felt more of a coming-of-age book as opposed to a big romance plot.
What started out as an enticing tale with teenage hindsight and open bisexuality dived into a disappointment. Emery Lee tried to make voices heard and an appropriate YA LGBTQ theme.
I really enjoyed this light-hearted, joyful queer rom-com. Teens will enjoy the many adventures (and misadventures) of the main character Noah, a transgender teen trying to put joy and hope into the world with a Tumblr full of trans happily ever afters. Emery Lee's use of the different stages of romance novels/movies as a narrative framing device keeps the story familiar and easy to follow, but it still feels fresh. The rom-com is a fast-paced, fun read with a main character who isn't perfect, but who you will root for all the same.
This is a really cute, delightful rom-com offering some much-needed representation to teens. The voice is fun and easy to read, and it was a light, quick, compelling story!
2.5? Noah is annoying and whiny, but he is also 16 and having to move across the county leaving his BFF behind all while his all important Tumblr page is falling apart...so, he kinda has a reason to? The whole losing followers thing is just so trivial to me, but it's just not my thing. I thought Devin was a better character.
This book was a quick read full of voice and a wonderful sense of humor. I would recommend this book to upper high school students in a school library.
This book was NOT it for me. The protagonist was inauthentic feeling and the book was just full of plot holes. I wanted to love it, but I didn't.
