The story is so much fun with all those fun, active vocals of the animal characters!

I find the illustrations a little too dark but yes, the artstyle is nostalgic.

A super fun and cute read, perfect for children! This one is definitely one to consider when choosing something to gift for family members with small children. The illustrations are lovely and the story is easy to follow.

This is a cut book. I enjoy reading it.
The illustrations are wonderful. Only one little thing I am not sure if I should bring it up. In this book, the Pug was hatched in an egg. Don't you think this little detail can probably mislead the kids that dogs are not mammals? I'm not sure. This bothers me a little.

This is a short, sweet illustrated story about learning to accept ourselves as we are. I loved the illustrations, they were cute and comforting. (especially John) and I found my heart going out to them.
However, as another reviewer mentioned, the rhyming felt a bit off at some places and I didn't find it a very smooth read. There were too many rhymes for each word and I found it a bit distracting as I was unable to focus on the rest of the content very well due to this. For kids, this might be the same case too, and the lovely message put forth in this story might be a bit lost on them. Maybe, if the number of rhymes were reduced, it would have become a better read for me.
The message in the story, is a very important one, especially in this day and age, as we struggle to find and accept ourselves in our harsh societies. Inculcating this courage at a very young age, with the help of such stories, would definitely make it a smoother journey for the upcoming generations. Along with the message of accepting ourselves, the author has very creatively introduced the idea of sharing our skills/strengths with others to help them overcome difficulties of their own.
This idea was different and not something that we come across in many places.
Overall, I loved the central message and the illustrations. smoother writing would have been the icing on the cake.

The Pugly duckling is a sweet book for kids with fun illustrations. The language and rhyming made is fun and easy to read. Great moral about being true to yourself

This book had potential to be a really cute story, but it feel short. The illustrations were nice, but the writing felt a bit awkward. It would randomly start and stop rhyming. It would have been better had it rhymed throughout. The part of the story where a lesson is learned felt rushed. Cute idea, needs better execution.
