Just WOW. Great great great book. Would recommend this book who like the erotica books. Definitely steamy and hot!!!!!!! Thank you for a great book. Now on to the movie on Netflix for this book.
Netflix did a great job of making this story into a movie. The movie was almost identical to the book. After the hype of the movie, the book was translated to English from Polish.
Is this a dark book? Yes. Does it seem like it will never happen in real life? Absolutely. But that’s the point of a book. It’s fictional. Not real or made up. People are blasting this book for the way it’s written. Well, duh. It’s fine that it’s extreme. I mean, no one is complaining about a PNR saying how it’s so unrealistic. Books are meant to be a step away from the world you’re living in. Including the world that is made up.
Is Massimo a sociopath? Definitely. Is Laura needy and lacking a backbone? Yep. But it’s a made up story. Is it the best story I’ve read? Nope. Is it the worst? Not by a long shot. I’ll definitely read the other 2 in the trio.
Wanted to give this a try now that it's in English and I saw the movie. I unfortunately found it boring.
such a good story. just as good as the movie. I loved these characters and the chemistry between them. so much fun and sexy.
I really liked this book. It is not for everyone. I didn’t agree with her decisions or who he was but it was a great story. The ending in the book was better then the movie.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
After watching the film on Netflix, I knew some of the plot lines to expect in the book and after enjoying the film, I was looking forward to reading this book. That being said, I did enjoy the book quite a lot. I’ve not read another book with the same kidnapping premise and at times I did think it was a bit far-fetched, but I couldn’t stop reading nonetheless.
Laura and Massimo have such a passionate chemistry, it was easy to get into their relationship. I feel that Laura was relatable while fighting her connection to Massimo given the scenario and ultimatum he’s posed to her.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book and am rating it 4 stars.
Laura is one strong sexy stubborn woman. Massimo is one sure of himself man. He goes after what he wants. Doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants. He will go to no lengths to get what he wants. No matter the costs.
I was really looking forward to reading this one especially since the movie is already on Netflix. Overall I enjoyed this book. At times I was frustrated because I wasn’t sure what was going on. The story line didn’t flow as well as I expected. But I liked the characters and the darker romance in this.
Thanks Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
One of the most beautifully written suspense/thriller/romance book I have read in a long while. 🤩 As I was reading this delicately designed novel, it was difficult for me to figure out exactly how I felt about what I was reading. Which are exactly the best kinds of books to read! Was I feeling jealousy or disgust about the way Massimo handled the entire situation with Laura. One minute I was outraged and the next minute I was "ass over elbow" in love with Massimo! I felt like such a hypocrite but a very intrigued and ecstatic one. 😆⭐️ I was captivated by his determination and desire for Laura and the ending was one to literally "faint" about. I am so anxious for Book #2 and #3 to come out so I can see what happens next in this twisted, yet desperately romantic love story between the two main characters. A MUST READ 📖 and definitely this is a book for Book Club! 🥰
Wow! I had heard this book was amazing, but I don’t think I can quite put into words what I thought of this book, I couldn’t put it down.
The story of Laura and Massimo is full of raw attraction, heat and passion. Laura gets kidnapped by Massimo and is told in order to protect her family she owes him 365 days then he will set her free . Massimo plans to get Laura to fall in love with him.
Just wow so glad I got this book it was amazing
This story is like reading a guilty pleasure. It is not the best or most original story I have ever read but you can’t help but be hooked in by the characters. Can’t wait for more
I watched this movie one Netflix and loved it. Just when I thought I couldn’t love it any more I read the book!! And wowwwwww, the book is so much better. I need to own this physically and the rest of this series!!
Downside to the book I think a little was lost in the translation of the book from one language to the other but i still flipped page after page wondering what was going to happen next!!
Be warned this does end on a cliffhanger so if that’s not your jam nor books like Fifty shades of Grey ... then this book isn’t for you. I LOVE a good cliffy but the wait is killing me!! I need book two stat!!
Thank you ever so kindle to the publisher and NetGalley for an ebook in exchange for my voluntary honest review!!
I don't know what I was thinking when I requested a copy of this book from NetGalley but it wasn't this! I didn't get past the first chapter. Sorry, not for me. Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC, but I DNF.
Let’s face it, crime boss Don Massimo Torricelli is a jerk. But then he is a crime boss and he can get away with it. When he meets his match Laura Biel things don’t always go their way. Laura agrees to stay with Don Massimo for a year or her family will be killed and Laura finds herself not wanting to leave but also wanting to go home.
It took about halfway through the book to get used to the wording of some portions, remembering that this is a translation. I am giving this book four stars because I thought the brattiness could have been toned down making it more enjoyable to read. Yes, there is killing, yes there is sex, however, it is not anything more in a lot of books out today in their genre.
And yes, as soon as Part 2 is translated into English, I will read it. And will be watching the movie.
I received a copy of the English ARC from Atria Books publishing. I have heard some people got ahold of poorly translated version, the Atria version does seem to be well translated.
One of the strengths of the movie was that it knew exactly what it was, wasting no time developing the lead characters. In the book Laura is the first person narrator, which unfortunately leads us to find out Laura is a very unlikable person. She is shallow, self centred, and makes it clear her only definition of beauty is extremely skinny and clothing and makeup obsessed. Trigger warning there for body issues. On the topic of trigger warnings, the author makes a clear attempt to obtain consent in situations, but there are power dynamics present that are not addressed.
Apart from my dislike of Laura, this is dark mafia romance with an abundance of smut, if that is what you are looking for, it is above average for that specific genre.
If you are looking for a book version of the movie, this is a well translated version.
365 Days by Blanks Lipinska was just not for me at all. I was turned off right from the beginning by the disturbing nature of the first scene. I’m not sure if the writing is really this bad or if a translation issue but it just wasn’t good. I’m not sure why this has received so much praise, but to each their own. It wasn’t for me at all.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
So excited to get this book!!! I loved loved loved the Netflix movie. So it was great to read and picture the actors who portrayed the characters. Loved it. Massimo was a little more violent in the.book than the movie, but that was ok with me. I just feel the book lost something with having it translated to English. I read until 50% then began to skim. It was just the writing I just couldn't read the whole thing. I mean I knew what was coming sorta. There are a few changes from the movie. The ending still a cliffy but different.
I feel.like this is one of those cases where the movie is actually better than the book.
Will I read book 2 probably not will I watch the movie 100 % YES!!!
This was a great read! I was a fan of the movie on Netflix so I knew I wanted to read the book. The movie hot but the book was hotter.
I watched to movies first so I knew what I was getting but the book is different and that’s good.
I loved the interaction between Massimo and Laura because they both know what they want and they are willing to do most anything to get it.
This is definitely dark erotica and it is very hot. If that’s not your thing then you know that now but I recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed 50 shades and other books similar to that.
I hope to find out what happens next and I hope to see the next movie too.
I requested this book by mistake. I had seen there was a movie out and wanted to read about the book it was based off of. Having been approved, I attempted to read it but after 15% it proved to be something I could not continue. I don’t mind kink or erotica, but I’m not really okay with what is happening on the page. This much dominance and force isn’t a turn on, it’s disarming. I won’t be finishing this arc, but I won’t post any negative reviews either since I haven’t finished it.
