This RomCom was just the best. I was hooked and invested in Poppy from the get go and finished this book really quickly.

I was rooting for both Alex and Poppy right from the beginning and nothing except a happy ending would do.

We go backwards into time and discover how they met and how their relationship develops. These two were real soul mates and it really was a heartwarming story.

You and Me on a Vacation is a Friends to Lovers story. What starts as a platonic friendship turns into Love after more than a decade. It is not as good as the other Emily Henry stories I've read as I felt the plot was a bit too cliched for my comfort.

Poppy and Alex have been best friends since college. They have taken holidays together for the past 12 years.

Are they just friends or does one of them want more from this long-term relationship? Will they be able to admit

that they have deeper feelings for each other? Every passing year makes the friendship more difficult.

A modern-day romance to enjoy. It is a cautionary tale to make us think about telling the truth, at least to

ourselves.

Poppy and Alex meet during their first days at university; they don't arrange to meet again. But they live in the same town, and end up sharing a lift home at the end of the first year. An unlikely friendship forms, resulting in them taking a summer trip together...every year.

Poppy is lively, a travel writer who lives for her trips overseas (and deeply annoying!). Alex is a high-school teacher, methodical, organised and serious. On paper, they are completely incompatible, but somehow the friendship works. Each sees romances come and go - and yet, the holidays together continue.

This is a will they, won't they story, like many of the best chick-lit/chick-flicks. Mostly enjoyable, but often rather frustrating and a bit too drawn out at the end, but a fun read.

Release July 2021

This book follows 2 best friends Poppy and Alex. It has 2 timelines of the past and the present with the past time line leading to the present and to why they had fallen out.

What did I enjoy about this book? I did really like the way it was written of going back and forth in time and slowly learning more and more to why their relationship was where it was at. I liked the building tension between them in the present timeline. I liked the travel aspects. I likes the relationships the main characters had with other people.

What I didn't like about this book... I don't know what but something was just missing for me. I really cant put my finger on it. I didn't really enjoy the miscommunication kind of trope as to why they weren't getting together and to be honest I didn't really like Poppy that much as a character. Not gonna lie though I could totally see this as a movie that I would most likely watch.

Thanks to Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Beautifully heartwarming journey to home alongside your best friend. In these dreary times without travel, this story takes you on a range of gorgeous holiday locations and brilliantly illustrates the road to true love. *Happy Sigh*

“You and Me on Vacation” speaks to me!

I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with this book. I’m a couple years new to the romance/rom-com genre. I’ve been enjoying them so far. But this one is everything.

Alex and Poppy are best friends who met in college. They’re different enough to compliment each other perfectly. Alex is a teacher, Poppy a travel writer, and they spend every summer taking a vacation together. The book jumps between present day and each summer from the past.

Oh, it’s unbelievably sweet and funny. My heart is so full right now. And I absolutely loved the travel part of it as the icing on the cake. I felt like I was traveling the world right along with them and it was glorious. Sometimes I find the cheese factor a little too high in books like these. Not this one! It’s sexy, romantic, emotional, and fun. I would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley, Penguin General, and Emily Henry for the chance to read and review this piece of happiness.

Two very unlikely friends trapped in their own personalities making wonderful memories together. But - are they? Are they really friends? Are they really trapped - with no way out? Are these memories all wonderful? I loved how Emily Henry built up this unconventional love story from the past and the present. I enjoyed Poppy's narration, this deep look inside her head and heart, how both leading characters are crafted to show their scars and battle wounds, and their soft, caring selves as well. It's utterly funny at some points and so teary painful at some others. I simply could not put it down .

I loved the Beach Read from Emily Henry, but this is way better. I think it made me a fan.

Oh how I loved this! Henry writes her characters with pin-point precision, on-point banter and off the scale romantic tension. I loved travelling with Poppy and Alex and was rooting for them all the way.

Really well written love story.

From the start I liked both characters. Poppy reflects on her and Alex's time together and slowly begins to realise her feelings for him, as she does so I fell in love with him too.

Usually I keep this genre for holidays and pool side reading, but I'm so glad I chose it. The writing style gently absorbs you into the book and cocoons you in their love. You feel every bit of happiness, sadness, longing, love and heartache that Poppy feels.

An exquisite love story.

Alex and Poppy meet at a party and dislike each other immediately, a year later they meet again unintentionally when they both agree to share a car ride home, by the end of the journey they have become firm friends and the beginning of a wonderful friendship starts. Over the following 10 years they're friendship continues to grow as they communicate via phone and emails as well as meeting once a year for their annual vacation.

Poppy's character is hilarious, I found myself laughing out loud more than once. The conversations between Alex and Poppy are interesting quirky and funny, I was smiling from ear to ear for most of the book. As the years pass both characters find themselves feeling more than friendship for the other, they struggle to admit to themselves and each other that what they both want is more than friendship.

Emily's writing was so beautiful my heart truly ached for Poppy and Alex , I was literally turning the pages and reading as fast as I could praying for an ending that Poppy Alex and myself wanted .

I want to read this book all over again, I wouldn't be surprised if this book became a best seller this summer.

Good Luck with your book launch Emily this book is beautiful love story, I look forward to reading more of your work.

Alex and Poppy have been best friends for 12 years. They make a pact to spend the summer together every year, however two years ago that pact came to a stop. Now Poppy has decided she needs to save the friendship, so in a last ditch effort, she contacts Alex out of the blue and asks him to spend the summer with her for old times sake.

I can’t put into words how much I loved this book…. It spoke to me.

Last year I read 'beach read' by Emily Henry and liked it very much. So I can't tell you how happy I was when I was approved for an eArc of her new book 'you and me on vacation'. It's release is in May and I'm so excited to have been able to read it already and can't wait to put the physical copy on my shelf.

It's about two friends, Alex and Poppy, who have been friends for ages. It's never been more between them, but well....we all know how it ends, don't we?
They're both just such great characters with lovely quirks and I've had my fingers crossed for them from the start. The dynamic between them is so great even as friends.
The whole story comes off without a lot of (unnecessary) drama, which I thought was really great. Instead, Poppy and Alex have a lot of fear, doubt and longing that they have to learn to deal with.
You keep switching between their past holidays and this year's as you read. I liked getting to know the characters better this way and their stories were often just hilarious

I really really enjoyed this book!

When I saw it on Netgalley I was really excited to try it out as I loved Beach Read last year. At first I thought it was a bit too similar to Beach Read but as it went on I realised it was even better than the previous book. Of course with any romcom you know from the start that the two main characters will get together in the end; but the clever way in which the layers of Alex & Poppy’s past are slowly revealed through their past holidays and the slow burn of the romance gripped me.

It actually reminded me of reading Sally Rooney’s Normal People, where I just wanted to scream at the book “get it together already!!!!”.

I would definitely recommend this book for fans of a good romance novel, it would make an excellent holiday read if we are ever able to leave these shores again!!

Stunning. Hilarious. Inspiring.

12 summers with Poppy and Alex. Travelling the world, and battling with their emotions - flirting between friends and lovers.

This is a real and honest book that is both hilarious and relatable. It shows the ups and downs of romance and friendships as well as self development. Emily Henry superbly highlights the challenges of dating in the modern world and how young adults find themselves lost in the daily grind.

This was an easy, original read that combined all my favourite things, travel, romance and comedy. It’s own of those books that I will read over and over again just to make me smile.
