This is a lovely little book. My rating 4.75.

This charming book shares grandmothers and chickens in at least six countries and languages. It is a lovely book to share with children as you show them how different cultures have much in common even as you share the differences in language, settings, chicken feed and types of chicken.

It is an easy read with bright, engaging illustrations. I would be glad to get this for my grandchildren!

"Chicken Talk Around the World" is a brightly illustrated children's book that helps to teach language and culture around the world. The illustrations will engage young readers, and the whole family will have fun making different "chicken talk" from various cultures and languages. This book also helps to normalize the experience of other children around the world and allows them to see the sameness that exists in others. I encourage parents use the book to assist in broadening the world-view of their children, and to foster a curiosity of language and culture.

Beautiful book that introduces children to different languages and cultures through chickens. Children learn how to say grandmother, hen, eggs, rooster, and cock-a-doodle-doo in languages from around the world. Each scene from a different country is lovingly illustrated, full of children along with their grandmothers and chickens.

Thank you NetGalley and Sasquatch Books for the gifted egalley.
Chicken Talk Around the World is an adorable children’s book that showcases chickens and their sounds in several world locations. I loved the ease of this story, and the illustrations were beautiful. I also appreciated the pronunciation guides for the languages besides English. I think this book is a great start if you wanted to teach other languages or cultures in your classroom. Overall, an adorable book.

This had a beautiful cover and pictures throughout! I enjoyed the story and even learned a few things! I think this is a great children's book to learn more about other countries. My only complaint is that the font could be a little bigger.

Oh, my, gosh! This brings back memories of a paper my daughter wrote in college on Onomatopeiae. Her English prof didn't think she'd have enough info for a ten page oral report- boy, was she ever wrong! My daughter and Ms. Schaefer have both aced it! Nice work on introducing children to onomatopeiae, foreign languages, and other cultures in one fell swoop. The staff here at the library- polyglots and various foreign born , had a good laugh after reading this book. Of course, we all howled with laughter with what other animals say in various languages we all knew! So, this book has found a very wide audience. Kids will enjoy it, as will adults. Good book Mrs. Schaefer!

It is always fun to learn new words in different languages, and this picture book gives examples of all the different ways you can say what the rooster says when he crows. He says "co-cori-co" in French, but says "ko-Keh-Kok-Koh" if he is in Japan.

The pictures are bright and colorful. The language is easy to understand as well. The story takes us to the US, Japan, India, Kenya, and Mexico. In all these places the farm is run by the grandmother, and we also learn how to say "Thank you Grandmother" in French, Japanese, Hindi, English, Spanish and Swahili.

Kids will have fun learning these new words, and how differently the chickens talk when they are in a different country. What I really like is that the text says "Chicken talk in Swahili" rather than something like, this is what people in Kenya think chickens say, which is making the assumption that it isn't what we English speakers hear.

Good introduction to both languages and different cultures.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
