The people of earth think the moon is sick. They ask Dr Jon Jon to do a checkup. While doing the check up he discovers it is not a sick moon but a sick earth. I think both young and old should read this book and the thoughts and ideas that go with it. I personally would like to see a healthy planet for my future generations. Through nice illustrations, children can learn about how polluted our earth is and how they can help to clean it up and make it healthy again. I recommend this book for ages 4-9.

This is a sweet and gentle story that tackles issues such as climate change in a way young children can understand and process. Solutions that anyone can participate in are included so children can get involved. The hopeful tone is refreshing.

An interesting kids tale with a good underlying environmental message about caring for our planet. DR JON JON SAVES THE MOON was a book our daughter enjoyed. The storyline is straightforward and 'on the nose', and the illustrations vivid without having a particular pizzazz or style. But we enjoyed the tale overall and would read it again. A decent picture book with a good message.

Odd and whimsical book that is good for teaching kids about being stewards of the earth and taking responsibility for hat we can do. I would have loved seeing more of an emphasis on commercialization and industry being the main culprits for pollution and emissions, but this was a good start.

I really loved the illustrations in this book. The overall message of taking care of our planet is an important one and shared in a fun way.

Dr. Jon Jon Saves the Moon uses its cute, simple story to impart an message of environmentalism to young readers. There's something about the writing that feels more like a story improvised by an adult on the spot for a young audience than a polished, published book; this comes through in details like the odd choice of name for the doctor, to the meandering storyline (the title is a little misleading here), to a consistent awkwardness with commas that probably won't affect the target demographic much but were distracting to me as the reader. The illustrations, too, are a little simple and bland, though I sincerely appreciate the genuine diversity depicted among the various characters shown on the page.

Review of Advance Reader’s Edition eBook

Since time began, kids looked up at the night sky to see the bright, white moon and the twinkling stars. But, over time, the moon began to change until the kids noticed that it looked green. Worried, they asked the adults if the moon was sick. The adults looked at the moon and talked about it, but no one knew what to do until one little boy said, “We need a moon doctor!”

But where will the people of Earth get a moon doctor? At NASA, of course. There the children found Dr. Jon Jon who said he certainly could give the moon a checkup. So, stethoscope in hand, Dr. Jon Jon travels to the moon in a rocket ship.

What will he find when he reaches the moon? If the moon really is sick, will Dr. Jon Jon find a way to make it better?

The intendment of this picture book is to show what happens when people forget to take care of our home planet. Dr. Jon Jon returns to Earth with a message: the moon reflects what happens on Earth and everyone must work together to care for the only home we have.

The unfolding story encourages children to pick up the garbage, to reuse and recycle, to plant more trees, to care for the animals and the ocean creatures and the places where they live. The focus on children working together to save the planet is in line with climate-conscious young people like Greta Thunberg who advocate caring for the planet. Jackson Apollo Mancini, the author of this delightful tale, wrote the story when he was only four years old. He lives in Alaska where he, like the children in his story, does what he can to help care for the planet.

Parents and teachers will find this colorfully illustrated story serves as a perfect springboard for a discussion about environmental awareness, climate, and caring for the planet. With several concrete suggestions of things that will help the planet, young readers will discover ways they may become part of the solution to a worldwide problem and see how they themselves can make a difference.

A list of website resources for kids is included.

Highly recommended.

Dr. Jon Jon Saves the Moon is a lovely children’s picture book in which the people on Earth become concerned that the moon is sick and ask Dr. Jon Jon who works for Nasa to find out what is wrong with him. The Doctor soon discovers that it isn’t the moon that is sick it is Earth. It is unhappy with all the waste that is hurting the animals and polluting the seas and the streets.

The book is written by four-year-old Jackson Apollo Mancini who was concerned about the Earth. I presume from the story that the idea was his and that he had help from grown-ups to add some of the more sophisticated sentences. It is lovely to see a child be so concerned about the planet that they used their imagination to come up with a fabulous story.

The book is adorned with full-page bright and colourful illustrations that are beautiful to look at and compliment the story perfectly.

Children will learn a lot about the polluted planet and how they can help to keep it safe and rubbish free. At the back of the book, there is some website that they can go to so that they can find out more information.

This is a really poignant book that is all about working together to care and look after our planet. I’ve said it before in books similar to this. Children seem to be leading the way in the fight against pollution and plastic waste and I hope that when they are older they will see the rewards of all their efforts.

Very educational book. Will help children understand the importance of keeping the earth clean. Beautifully illustrated. Would recommend for a teacher to help explain what happens when we don’t take care of Earth.

Dr Jon Jon Saves the Moon is a great book, and teaches children why it's important to protect the environment and show examples of small ways everyone can help.
Told in a really sweet way along with pretty illustrations too.

This is a bit of a twist on the genre - books about saving the planet. Earth doesn't speak for itself; the anthropomorphic moon speaks for it. The moon advocates on behalf of Earth for people to clean her up. This is cute, the illustrations are lovely, and backmatter includes places for kids to go to learn more.

We need more books like Dr. Jon Jon Saves the Moon! It excellently teaches children that even small changes can change our lives and our planet. Environmental awareness should start from the very early ages and I believe children's books can help with that. This is a good example of how it should be.

This is told in an easy to understand manner with analogies . Concrete examples of how to change your habits are illustrated beautifully in rich detail. The text of the story is provided in short sentences that highlight the importance of working together as a team because “we all must share this planet as our home.”

Jackson Apollo Mancini has written a book that I will happily reread to my daughter over and over again with its environmental awareness and green message. A good refresher even for my adult self, to remind me of what is important.

Great book about taking care of the planet. The title is a bit misleading about the story though. The text was quite small on the wonderfully artistic pages. 1st grader was able to read the entire story and loved the pictures.

Dr. Jon Jon travels to the moon to find out why it is sick since so many children are worried about it. He comes back and relays that it's not the moon that is sick but Earth. The children take steps into cleaning up the earth so that the moon will shine white again. Wonderful colors and illustrations and easy to understand for the very youngest. A great book to share during Earth day or when talking about conservation or recycling.
I received this book as an advance copy from publisher and NetGalley and am sharing review by my own accord.

Over the time, the moon turned green, so, on children's request, Dr. Jon Jon from NASA decided to give the moon a chekup to see if the moon is sick. The moon tells Dr. Jon Jon that it's fine, it's the Earth that's sick, and we (people) are the ones who have the power to make it better.

Through a simple and informative way, this story teaches us that we should change our ways and take better care of our planet. Humans have a huge impact on the planet, so why not make that impact positive?

Only negative thing I want to say is that I think the word 'moon' should be capitalized. It refers to Earth's moon, and it's name is the Moon.
