Not too much to say here. This book is definitely in the thriller camp, but I think the biggest problem was that a lot of the reveals didn't even make sense. Also the main character is kind of problematic to the point I was not rooting for her. The other characters don't read as very developed either. I think that the ending was a cheat and a half too.

"I Don't Forgive You" follows Allie Ross. She and her husband, Mark have moved to Bethesda, MD a suburb near DC. Allie is a photographer, and is focused on her career, while also raising their child Cole. Allie feels a bit lost though in the new neighborhood she finds herself in. The mothers all seem to be a different species, and Allie wants to fit in, but doesn't know how. Going to a neighborhood party though, Allie runs into a man named Rob who seems to know all about her and they have an awful moment which causes Allie to flee the party. When Rob is found dead, all eyes turn to Allie. And Allie starts traveling down a path to find out who is behind Rob's death and seems to be setting her up to take the fall for it.

So Allie as the lead was hard to get passed. Thompson shows us aspects of her character which make her downright dislikable at times. And she keeps hiding things from her husband which always drives me up the wall in thrillers. Just sit down and tell him what's going on. It doesn't help that Allie tells half truths to people and then wants to be believed. I do think that the reveal about why Allie doesn't like the whole "Sexy Lexie" thing was good, but you also feel sad for her. Her idea about romance/sex/men seems very messed up. Her relationship with her husband seems toxic as hell too and I just didn't like it.

The other characters like Allie's husband, her sister, her only friend in the neighborhood, the cops, etc. were just not drawn very well. I think the biggest issue is that Thompson wants you to suspect pretty much everyone to being behind what is happening to Allie, so everyone has a big dark cloud against them. I do think though that throwing in the bit about Allie's past makes it really clear who had to behind things and I guessed correctly.

The writing at times made me go did she just say that? Think that? Cause Allie's attitudes about other people, even her husband, sister in law is just a lot sometimes. I think if you had her written as more sympathetic, I would have cared what happened to her, but instead I was just focused on finishing to figure out if I was correct behind who was doing what.

The flow was off I thought. I think that we had too many things that we had to keep track of reading this and though I don't have the highest respect towards the police and their investigations, the two detectives we get in this one seem modeled after clowns. There's a lot that is going on with Allie that they would have had to investigate and it seemed like it all got ignored for other things. I don't think a prosecutor would have brought charges without chasing down the other things going on since it seems really apparent that she's being set up for a lot of mess.

I think the biggest thing I was disappointed with is that this books seemed at times to want to get into the underbelly of suburbia. But instead if stayed too focused on Allie throughout. We are supposed to despise the other moms and the neighborhood for how they are treating Allie and boxing out Cole, but part of you wonders would you do anything different if all of a sudden you had a neighbor who is apparently lying about things, telling the truths about others, and seems to be a bit of a mess.

I loveeee a good thriller and oh MY god did I love this one. It feels like a lot of the 'domestic' thriller type books follow the same general plot and can be pretty predictable, but this one kept me on my toes TRULY until the very end. I found myself wanting to take Allie into my arms and give her a big hug while also slapping her across the face and asking "why are you doing this to yourself!!!" Every single character she comes into contact with poses a threat and seems like they could be an issue which was so fun to experience. The only thing I felt was a little bit unfinished had to do with Allie's mother, but without giving too much away in the review, I will say that it doesn't affect how I feel about the book at all. It was a very minor detail. I devoured this book in a day and wish I could forget what I read so I could read it again. This book takes a look at the very real that that social media and the internet can have on the life of an ordinary suburban family. Alexis is a professional photographer with a husband and son. They've just moved to the suburbs. Alexis isn't the type of person to make friends easily. Attending their first neighborhood party, Alexis is assaulted by a man who insinuates he met her on Tinder. This begins a chain of accusations, photos, leaks of private work information, fake social media profiles, and a false accusation of murder.

In this digital age, no one is safe. Our pasts are never really private. This is a good reminder to watch what we say, do, and photograph, because sometimes actions come back to haunt us.

The book is well-written, with a new and interesting plot and lots of suspense. Aside from a few editing errors, I would release it as is. I would recommend this book, and give it a five out of five stars.

Allie, Mark and and their son Cole are living the good life. They have found their "forever" home in the genteel suburbs of D.C. and life is looking up. But when a neighbor takes a harmless flirtation the wrong way, Allie's world begins to unravel. An incident from her past that she has struggled to not let define her life has come back to haunt her, and the repercussions may cause her to lose her precious family, and indeed, her freedom.

I enjoyed this domestic thriller so much! The writing is fantastic and the twists are unexpected. You won't be able to put it down!

Holly hell! My legs are jello! My head is spinning! My bladder is about to explode! And I’m starving at the same time!

When you read nonstop for six hours long and finish a book in one longest sits of your life time, you must find creative ways to leave your couch without being humiliated!

My entire body is numb and I plan to call someone to carry me to the bathroom because my husband dearest at the next door who is snoring happily acts like he doesn’t hear my cry for help! Maybe I throw myself down the floor and begin crawling but it seems like my hands are also jello!

Holly hell! That’s the redemption of reading something extremely gripping, addictive! Feeling like boneless chicken wing may be the most unexpected result!

Is it worth it? Yes, absolutely, this is one of my wildest, heart pounding, action packed rides!

Let’s give you more details about the story line so you may get my points why my hands have been glued to this book for 6 hours!

Allie Ross is so excited to make a fresh start by moving to upscale Washington D. C. neighborhood with her lovely husband Mark and their six years old son.

They attend a party their realtor throw at for socializing with their new neighbors. As Mark finds himself talking about baseball with a bunch of his new mates, Allie finds herself making a deep conversation with a man: it is harmless flirting , nothing bad can happen, they’re surrounded by people! Nope! This is absolutely wrong! Because the same man call her the high school name she wants to forget: Sexy Lexie! And the very same man attacks her at the bathroom.

Allie doesn’t tell the incident to her husband which is another wrong move because the asshole harassed her at the party is poisoned and now the police and her new neighbors are accusing her have an affair with this dead man.

The officers finds out Tinder account of Allie which she never head any in her entire life! They find the long time and intimate correspondences on fake Facebook account between Allie and the same asshole/ abuser/ dead man! There are also very provocative photos of Allie shared in this account. Somebody plays a real dirty revenge game with her.

Could it be about the events of 16 years ago Allie tried so hard to forget? Something happened in high school and somebody truly blamed Allie for ruining his entire career. Could all these events be related with Allie’s past?

Even her own husband becomes suspicious about her motives and entire neighborhood points at their fingers, gossiping about her! She keeps drinking too much and dealing with her mother’s early dementia, her adaptation to her new settling circumstances at her new place!
All the walls seem like closing on her! She’s trapped! She must find a way to prove her innocence but how?

So exciting, so riveting, so entertaining story you have to devour with big bites!

I cannot wait to read future works of the Ms. Thompson ! This is a real winner, earning my 5 heart pounding, addictive, delicious mystery stars!

Of the men from the party. His name is Robert. Rob says things that remind her of her past, just dropping subtle hints etc and she blows it off. Until he corners her and reminds her of her childhood nickname Lexi 🤭😳 coincidently rob is dead the next day 😮 and the neighborhood Facebook page is off and running with the rumors just like it does in real life. Which will ruin her if she can’t figure out who is posting as her and creating tinder accounts with nude photos as well.

So now we’re trying to figure out who Lexi is
Is and why is she Allie now ?
You being to learn her past and how bad it really was when she brings back old friends from her childhood.

It’s a great read. I totally guessed it wrong.

Here’s my reason for why , something happened in Allies past and she doesn’t tell her husband about it until after 62% of the book. Most women wouldn’t hide that and would divulge that detail right away. Nip that in the bud.

To be fair, i read it all as i wanted to know what happened. And the writing style was engaging and easy and fast paced. But ultimately a very frustrating 'thriller' given the whole plot is driven by annoying tropes - protagonist making stupid illogical decisions and not communicating with partner/ police. very unsatisfying

Just goes to show when someone has a grudge against you they can turn your life completely upside down. A really good read that I found hard to put down. This was one of those books where you kept saying just one more chapter and the next thing you know another hour has gone by. Strong story that kept me engrossed all the way though, stayed up too late as I had to finish it. Highly recommended. Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.

What would you do if your life started to unravel right before your eyes? In this thriller, Allie has just moved into a new neighborhood in the DC area. She is trying to make friends and fit in with the moms so she attends a local neighborhood party. While there she begins an innocent flirtation with a man who seems to know more about her than should be possible. The next day he ends up dead and thus begins the downward spiral of Allie's life.

I really enjoyed this novel because I could not figure out who was behind everything. Allie could be any mom just trying to get by and what happened to her could happen to anyone in this day and age of social media. This was a thrilling, thriller and I can't wait to read more of Aggie Blum Thompson's books.

The smart, sexy banter suddenly goes terribly wrong. The next day when the guy winds up dead, Allie immediately becomes fodder for the gossip mill. The clever plot, set in a very realistic upscale community, starts as a slow burn but soon ramps up to a molten hot storyline that is hard to put down. Before long Allie isn’t just catching side-eyes from neighbors, she and her family find themselves with seemingly unrelated new stressors that pile up as quickly as a teenage girl’s laundry basket. Alexis’ sister, Krystle—yes, they’re named after the “villainess” and “platinum-blond power wife” on the 1980’s show Dynasty— is part confidant and part sparring partner. Together the sisters try to figure out who is framing Allie. Well written, this book is heavy with masterful metaphors and social commentary on life in the DC suburbs. Thompson's knowledge of police inquiries reveals her chops as a former crime reporter. A very entertaining read that may keep you up late because you cannot wait to see how it ends. This was certainly a thrilling thriller. The idea of someone from your past being dead-set on ruining your life through the internet is so scary in these times, and I couldn't put this book down. I did find Allie a bit whiny at times, but she's dealing with so many circumstances that I was able to look past it.

Plus I will say, the plot had me constantly guessing about who the perpetrator would be. The side characters were all so suspicious that it really could've been anyone. Red herrings galore, and I love it!!

This story was very readable with a lot of possible suspects.

This begins Allie's descent down the rabbit hole.

Turns out the man in question turns up dead of poisoning the same night of the party. The police have questions for Allie but she insists she hardly knows him having only met him that night. However, the police have records of a Tinder relationship between the two that has been going on for months. Allie has never even been on Tinder. Then before you know it a false Facebook account claiming to be her turns up posting things Allie would never post including provocative photos of herself.

Slowly but surely her world becomes dismantled and Allie has to find out who is trying to ruin her and for what reason all while the police are closing in on her.

This was a really fantastic psych thriller that kept me flipping the pages. I could feel Allie's frustration. I could not imagine having someone infiltrate your life like this. The violation of it all would be devastating to anyone. I will say that I did not guess the who - part of it, yes, but not the complete picture and to say more than that will ruin this for everyone so I will zip my lips here. Aggie Blum Thompson, you have made a new fan! 4 stars!
