Everything about this book was cute. It follows Burt the beetle as he tries to find out what he excels at in the bug world and how he'll be of use. He tries out a variety of roles until he finds the perfect fit!
The drawings are just absolutely adorable and the info boxes are really informative. This is a great book for teaching kids to keep trying and not give up, while broadening their knowledge of the insect world. Definitely recommend!
I don't why we adults have this tendency to harm the harmless beings around us. Maybe because we are conditioned to think that they are "annoying" just for existing?
What I felt while reading this colourful picture book on different types of bugs was we must not harm such small beings. They are important too.
But what was a good warm story about the bug and the spider for the kids towards the end of the book, I feel it's a bit unrealistic taken that one is the prey and the other the predator.
Love the easy, eye-popping illustrations.
Thank you author and the publisher for the advance reading copy.
This was a fun and educational bedtime story to read with my 2 year old. He thought it was so funny!
The book introduces a wide range of insects and displays all their special talents.
I highly recommend reading this to your little ones!
This was a really cute book for younger children who are interested in insects. While it's cute and fun, it also provides information about insects throughout the book.
This is a really cute book that everyone can enjoy.....little kids, & those reading to them! The artwork is simple, yet realistically accurate enough that you can recognize the bug/insect being depicted/talked about! I can recommend this to everyone! I think it'd be a fun book to share with a little person!
I received an e-ARC of the book from Kid Can Press via NetGalley, in return for reading it & offering my own fair & honest review.

This is the first book I read together with my 5 years old by Ashley Spires, and immediately after, she wanted to know what other books this author had wrote, so I think it's safe to say this story is a big success.
The story line mixed humour with scientific facts, and the drawing was very capturing. The potty humour made my daughter laugh out loud and she was able to finish this book even though it was her least favourite subject- bugs.
The plot makes the educational content work much better and feel much more palatable to adult readers than the usual "let's learn about bugs" book, and it's surprisingly cute and clever at times.
This was really fun graphic novel for adults to read with kids. Great cartooning and easy for younger readers to understand.
Adorable illustrations will appeal to even the most bug-adverse kids. Burt the beetle is looking for his superpower, while not obvious like an ant, spider or stink bug, Burt does have one characteristic that is special. This nonfiction based story is a fun read for early readers with interesting insect facts scattered throughout the book.
I love insects. And I love really nice illustrated books for children. One big plus is if they are also teaching the kids something. This is the case. It is looking nice and cute, it is teaching them how to be friendly, facts about insects in a really nice form. Not too wordy. I loved that!
Burt is an ordinary June Bug who isn’t sure of his superpowers. After tell us about the other bugs and their special abilities, Burt quickly realized his superpowers while saving his friends. With humor ad fun illustrations, Burt can relate to children especially ones who love bugs.
This was so sweet and clever, my niece and I loved it! The art style is wonderful and our Super Good Friend was so cute and funny. This little book can show children that everyone is special, I'm glad I've read this ( and I actually learned a few things).
Spires' art is bright and fun as always and even though this certainly has a moral and facts, it just feels like a fun book centered around a beetle. Highly recommended for younger graphic novel collections.
This quick, fun read gets right to the bug business. The opening and closing pages are covered in bugs, with less-than-scientific names but that's what makes this book so much fun. With humor, Ashley Spires teaches not just about bugs but also accepting yourself for who you are. Kids will love it.
This is a fun and clever book that contains a lot of interesting information on bugs. Kids will enjoy the illustrations and humor. Great for reluctant readers!
This is a very cute and sweet graphic novel, appropriate for all ages, including young children. It's educational (about june beetles!) while still being funny. There is also a nice message about loving yourself as you are.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley!
The cover of this book is adorable.
This was a fun and easy read for my kiddos and I.
It's informative, and the illustrations were great!
I'd definitely purchase a copy and check out other books by the author.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.
I love Ashley Spires - I don't think she could write a bad book even if she tried. This one is an adorable book about Burt the June Bug. It is full of fun pictures, cute characters, and really cool bug facts. I can't wait to read it with my class of curious kiddos!
My kiddo loved this book. It was funny and educational all in one. Overall I think it is a great book
This is a sweet introduction to the june beetle, led by curious, funny, and slightly accident-prone Burt. We learn about other bugs and their super powers - but Burt seems different. It doesn’t seem like there’s anything super about him. Or is there? Part picture book, part comic, part funny documentary (where the subject replies to the narrator with funny little quips), this ends up feeling like an interactive, adorably illustrated, little bug adventure. I never thought bugs could be so cute! It will make you laugh out loud, and I - a grown-up person - learned things about beetles I didn’t know before, so your kids definitely will.
