I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

This is a really nice book to use to support physics learning with younger children and to help model how sound works and highlight key terms being used connected to sound! I wish maybe the story itself was more connected to the things shows and discussed in the book tho, not only in the beginning and the end. Overall a good one tho!

A beautiful nonfiction book about the science of sound for younger elementary school students. The illustrations and clear, straightforward explanations of how sound travels and how we hear it will delight and satisfy curious young readers. I would definitely incorporate this into my elementary science curriculum.

A decent and heavily pictorial primer to the science of acoustics, that starts and ends almost poetically, but in between covers the workings of the inner ear, the decibel comparison chart, the frequency range of certain animals' hearing and more. Its gentle build-up to the science will be welcomed by many.

Sounds All Around by Susan Hughes is an informative book told in an accessible manner. This book is perfect for early elementary and elementary aged children to become more observant of their surroundings. The science of why common sounds are heard are brought to life with detailed illustrations and concise examples. This will give children knowledge and build confidence in their new understanding of their environment.

My son was excited to learn things he said he had always wondered about but had never asked me. Honestly, as an adult I learned things I had never known also!

Learning about the simple science behind the common expression of "so quiet as to hear a pin drop" and the more detailed explanation of infrasound used by elephants plus more was included in this excellent book.

It would make a great addition to the library of kids who are always asking "why" and "how." A follow-up activity was also provided to encourage hands-on practice.

I was provided a free advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review from Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy of ‘Sounds All Around’.
‘Sounds All Around’ was incredibly informative and such a delight to read! There was so much information -yet it always kept my attention and the illustrations were charming and helpful as well. I loved the craft opportunity as well, using everyday objects to create a buzzing sound.
All in all, an excellent read and a great title for a personal or public collection!
