This domestic thriller was full of suspense and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I will say that it was full of profanities that I did not like and could have definitely done without. Besides those, the story was excellent! I could never guess what had happened until the end of the book. I listened to this as an audiobook and I enjoyed the use of dual narrators for both main characters.

Sarah Morgan is a high powered and sought after defense attorney who spends most of her time at the office or in court which leaves her husband Adam feeling neglected. Adam retreats to a lake house that he convinced his wife to buy as a “ writing retreat” but in truth he is involved in a passionate affair with a young woman who is found dead the day after he had spent the night with her. Sarah tells him that despite his betrayal, she will help him clear his name.
This story is what I called fluff. The writing is poor, the plot line has gaping holes and scenarios presented are absurd. The only redeeming part of the book was the ending and a twist that many readers of thrillers will have seen coming. There is also gratuitous sex that really adds nothing to the story. If you are in the mood for a quick read and can ignore improbability of some scenes, you might enjoy this.
The narration is well done though and both conveyed the emotions in the scenes they were reading well.
Thank you to #netgalley and #dreamscapedia for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Fantastic book with perfectly written twist and turns. I love a good thriller/suspense and this one did not disappoint. The audiobook was well done, and fast paced. I enjoyed the narration and story line. Overall, I would highly recommend.

The Perfect Marriage is a great example of what I consider the perfect mystery thriller read! Author Jeneva Rose has written a gripping thriller that will keep you guessing throughout the story. I found the story to be original and entertaining. The characterizations were interesting and unique in many ways. The mother-in-law was priceless referring to her grown son as, “Cubby-Bear.”
The Perfect Marriage evoked strong feelings from me. I loved the twists and turns and there was no shortage of suspects. In fact, the group of disparate suspects made this a fun, yet chilling and challenging read!
I look forward to reading more from this author.

Meet Sarah, high ranking criminal defense attorney, married to Adam, who has left the working world to write the great American novel.
Sarah, hardworking, business minded workaholic spends more time in the office than at home an Adam finds himself spending more time "writing" at their little vacation cabin. But he isn't alone, because it turns out Adam is a cheat.
When his mistress is found dead in his bed, Sarah jumps into action to represent him.
And that's where the story falls apart. There was absolutely no research done into the law, criminal investigation, the judicial process or probably anything else. The characters were very flat and the plot was full of some rather incredibly large holes. Not the book for me.
The audiobook was well done and well narrated, unfortunately, the story itself was a big letdown.

QOTD: How do you work your way out of a reading slump?
I’ve found myself slumping a bit this week after the events at the US Capitol. I got sucked into the news cycle election-style.
I’ve been on a bit of a thriller kick. So, hoping this @netgalley audiobook copy of The Perfect Marriage by @jenevaroseauthor will be able to pull me out of it. I’ve started three books this week and haven’t finished any of them 😅 but this one it definitely holding my attention.
I thought I’d hate it based on the first line alone, but it’s gotten much better since (I’m 3/4 through) and I’ve changed my mind a million times about who the killer might be.
This book is on shelves now!

Wow! What a ride! Excellent listen for the audio!!
Sarah Morgan is a successful lawyer who finds herself defending her husband Adam for the murder of his mistress, found stabbed in their bed at their lake house. You may ask yourself how can a woman do that, after what Adam has done? Stay tuned till the very end where you will get quite a twist!
Very engaging audio, excellent narrators! My thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to review.

WOW. That was a ride. First, every single piece of the book was entertaining. I didn’t come across one paragraph that I wanted to skip through (which is rare for me). I was enthralled all the way until the end. Speaking of the end, wow! Never would have guessed the ending (and I thought I knew who the killer was!).
You learn in the beginning, Kelly has been murdered. Adam, her lover, was accused of stabbing her 37 times (yikes). Sarah, Adam’s wife, who is also a lawyer, took on his case. How could a wife take on her husbands case who is accused of murdering his mistress you ask? Well, Sarah is a bad ass. I really enjoyed her character and the perspective of her character.
This was a super quick “listen” for me (I received the audio version). I had to know what happened. Who killed Kelly? I bet you’ll never guess!
I would highly recommend this book/audio to anyone!

Jeneva Rose's novel, The Perfect Marriage is a propulsive legal thriller full of twists and turns that will leave you breathless. Sarah Morgan is a defense attorney on the fast track at her DC law firm. Everything in her life appears to be going according to plan. Her husband Adam is a writer who hasn't written anything in years and lives in the shadow of his successful wife. And while Sarah realizes Adam has problems she isn't prepared to for the shock of finding him accused of the murder of his pregnant mistress in their vacation home. Hurt and bewildered, Sarah agrees to defend Adam against the charges and find the truth behind the murder.
I listened to this book on audio and it was really well done. I really liked the narrators. It is always helpful to have more than one as you get a real feel for the characters. This is a fast paced legal thriller that points you in many directions and has lots of surprises. The ending is what always sells me on a thriller and this one was really effective and unforseen. This is one of those books that if you divulge much information it will spoil the book for the reader. This book is all about the twists and unexpected revelations.
The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that the character of Adam is completely unlikeable. The way he thinks and talks about really made me dislike him. His first reaction to every woman is to describe her appearance and sex appeal. Women seem to exist merely for his pleasure and to be a boost for his fragile ego. I assume the author intended for the reader to have this reaction to him for the purposes of the plot. Still I would have liked to be able to feel a little sympathy towards him.
This book had me thoroughly confused as to who done it. As soon as I thought I knew, a new suspect would emerge and I loved that. I read lots of thrillers and it's hard to surprise me but this one really did. If you like books that move at a fast pace with lots of red herrings and surprises I would recommend this one. I would also encourage you to listen to the audiobook as it is really well done.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a good psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the end! It's the story of Adam Morgan (having lived in Northern VA for years, I couldn't help but think of Adams Morgan, an area of DC, everytime I heard this!) who was having an affair when his mistress was murdered. Adam is the one suspect and on trial with his wife, a prominent lawyer, defending him. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. It's told from 2 points of view, Adam and his wife, Sarah. The voice for Sarah reminded me of the Tik Tok video voice used for dogs when they are in trouble, if that makes sense. I listened to it over two days and was so interested to find out what happens so I couldn't put it down.
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.

3.5 stars!
The perfect marriage started off strong. I enjoyed the audio and the switch of point of views but I felt the storyline a bit unbelievable and problematic. This domestic thriller was fast paced and filled with twists I liked both Sarah and Adam but for me it fell a bit flat.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an audio version of the perfect marriage for my honest review. I look forward to reading more books by Jenova Rose!

The book, story, and narrative was very well written. I didn't see it coming but i did kind of feel like i knew the story but i really didn't. Murder mystery was very well carried out and the end was fantastic , terrible but wow !
Loved the audiobook , I thoroughly enjoyed team reading. The narrators did a fantastic job I loved their voices fit so well with the characters. Having different people narrate the book makes it more engaging. I highly recommend this book !!!

HOLY TWIST! I wish the audio was better on the Netgalley app, but besides that this was WOW what a great read. I could NOT put it down. Literally so hooked. I actually ended up buying this too since I wanted to support the authors. I can't wait to read more by her!

I really enjoyed this fast-paced legal thriller. My guess at the killer was wrong, and I love being stumped!
The short chapters made this book fly by, and the differing perspectives were very well done. It was interesting to see the story from both the husband and wife’s points of view.
I loved how the information was presented as the book progressed–the author would hint at something and then not mention it again for chapters and chapters. Just when you began to think she left a loose end, she brought the plot back around and tied up all those hints in a satisfying bow.
Excellent debut novel–I can’t wait to see what Jeneva Rose does next!
I enjoyed the narrators, and thought they fit the characters very well. The audiobook definitely did the novel justice.

I started this story while wrapping Christmas presents on Christmas Eve and was instantly enthralled. I didn’t want to stop listening but with it being Christmas I had to. Needless to say I finished it as soon as was possible with in the next few days.
Who killed the mistress?
The author tells a story about Sarah Morgan a successful DC attorney and her husband Adam Morgan, a struggling author. At first it seems they have a perfect life together until Adam’s mistress if found dead in their 2nd home. The twists and turns of the story will keep you on your toes. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and my thank you goes out to NetGalley for the listen.

This f-ing review is the best f-ing review this f-ing book will ever get in it's f-ing life. If you hate the use of the word f-ing don't bother reading this book.
I find when authors resort to using 10 cent words they aren't really writers. This book held such promise and boy did it disappoint.
The characters are flat, boring and have nothing endearing about them. Sarah Morgan the successful defense attorney starts out with promise. She has a successful career and seems professional but that facade soon leaves with her F this and F that.
Adam her writer husband is whiney, childish and makes such poor choices you wonder if he's 14 and not in his 30s.
His mother (don't get me started) what a horrible character, She should have never even made it in the book.
There are so many plot twists and turns and holes that you wonder if the author is actually a tornado intent on destroying any future hope of me picking up another book by her again.
I will give props to the narrators of the audiobook. They at least made it somewhat bearable. Perhaps that is why I listened to the whole things hoping it would get better and not worse.
Thank you to #DreamscapeMedia #NetGalley for the book and starting my book review journey.

Wow wow wow... I was not expecting that ending! I loved this book I was hooked from the very beginning. I can honestly say when I wasn’t listening to this audiobook I was constantly thinking about it and trying to figure out Adam and the motives of every character.

Great book, it has some more pg13 moments but a great thriller nonetheless. Thank you to netgalley for an advanced reading copy. Very much appreciated

I love twists and turns but I also love likeable characters in a book. I didn't really like any of the characters in this story- and maybe that was by design, but I need that in order to love a book, I need someone to root for. Adam was sex crazed and immature (Mama's boy) and hearing his inner thoughts was frustrating - he deserves everything that he is getting in my opinion. I also am not a huge fan of the F word for the sake of using the F word... when other words will do. I was not a fan of the narrators either.
What I did really like about this book were what I would consider a well deserved ending and the different Points of View in the book.
I will read more by Jeneva Rose.

What a crazy, awesome story! This was a murder-mystery/wrongfully accused/legal thriller/domestic thriller mash-up, and I loved it!
Adam is having an affair.
His mistress is found dead in his lakehouse bed.
Adam is arrested.
His wife, a top defense attorney, becomes his lawyer.
Adam swears he didn’t do it.
That’s the main idea of this one. If Adam isn’t the murderer, who is? They need to work fast because he’s getting charged with murder and the prosecution is pushing for the death penalty.
I was really not expecting this book to go where it did. It was fast-paced and filled with twists that I was just completely taken by surprise with. I had inklings of who I thought did it, but then I would dismiss them because they didn’t seem to fit. Boy…😲 was I wrong!
This is a dual-POV story, so you get to hear Adam’s side of things as well as his wife’s. I liked that there are two narrators to tell the story in the audio version. They both did an excellent job, and it helped make the story come to life for me. I highly recommend the audio if you can grab it!
Overall, I thought this was an awesome thriller with so many twists, I was constantly second-guessing what was happening. The ending was great and made the whole story come together for me. I highly recommend it if you enjoy domestic thrillers!
I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
