Vanessa, Noelle, and Diamond are three women of varying ages with different backgrounds and personalities. They do have one thing in common though - they are all married to the same man. Wealthy businessman Cyrus Grey has been juggling three wives and a demanding business, but everything comes crashing down when he is shot outside one of his homes. As he remains in critical condition, secrets that both he and his wives were keeping begin to be revealed.
I love the premise of this book and the characters are very interesting, but for the most part unlikable. I think Noelle is trying to do the right thing in an unimaginable situation and I felt sorry for Diamond who is trying to make a better life for herself. Most of my problem with the book is my expectations. I was expecting a domestic thriller, but the book is more of a romantic suspense about who shot Cyrus and that answer becomes evident fairly quickly. I was surprised by the number of steamy love scenes in the book. In addition, the book’s description states this is the start of a new series, but I didn’t realize that nothing would be resolved in this installment. The story ends abruptly with everything in limbo with a note to stay tuned for the next entry in the series. I don’t know how many books are planned in the series or when all the questions will be answered. The book is fast-paced, so it depends on what you are looking for. I was looking for a thriller with at least the main plotline resolved by the end, so I was disappointed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this ebook. An advance copy was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
Vanessa has a problem. Though happily married, she is having an affair with a much younger man. When she dumps her boy toy, he vows revenge. Later, Vanessa receives a call from the hospital. Her husband has been shot by a masked man. At the hospital, she learns of a bigger problem. It seems there are Three Mrs. Greys. Her husband, Cyrus, is also married to Noelle and Diamond.
I just wasn’t feeling this book. All the characters and even the plot felt copied from another, better, book. It took me only a few chapters to guess the ending except for one slight twist.
Even the police didn’t act like professionals. They just started yelling and accusing everyone of Cyrus’ attempted murder. They are never shown doing any actual investigating.
But the Three Mrs. Greys’ worst offense is that has no real conclusion. It moves seamlessly into a teaser chapter for the next book in the series set maybe a month after the ending of the previous book. I hate that! For that reason, this book receives only 2 stars from me.
Thanks to Dafina, Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Delicious guilty pleasure book that is much more “domestic” than “thriller,” but I enjoyed the heck out of it. This story is about three Black women in three very different marriages....three marriages which, they learn at the beginning of the novel, are to the very same man. And of course, they find all this out when their husband is shot. (By a man hired by one of them? Or by someone else entirely?)
I loved all three of the wife characters who at first seem very different - Vanessa, the somewhat spoiled, bored Neiman Marcus shopping housewife who was married to Cyrus for over a decade and who is having an affair with the kids’ much younger soccer coach; the younger, softer wife and fashion model with mental health issues; and the feisty, somewhat troublesome Diamond who has an ex-boyfriend fresh out of prison, and who seems to be Suspect Number One in Cyrus’ shooting.
The book is juicy and sex and drama is plentiful. The author, Shelly Ellis, is very funny and gives me Lolita Files vibes. I liked the mystery but really enjoyed getting to know these women even more. (Wish I could say the same for Cyrus and the low down dirty friends of his who helped make his three marriages possible.) I would happily read another book about these characters and it looks like one might be in the works.
Recommended! Thanks to Kensington Books, NetGalley and the author for this fun read.
You know how this is gonna go- Vanessa, Noelle, and Diamond each THOUGHT she was Cyrus's wife- but do you? Cyrus has been shot, he's in a coma. and these three very different woman have to figure out where to go from here. Vanessa, the first, is the mother of his children, Noelle wants his children, and Diamond is just happy to be out of the life. Who shot him? IS that person going to go after the women? This has lots of tropes but it's a fun ride. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. There are a few surprises here.
It was the deceitfulness for me!
Author Shelly Ellis blew me away with this one. The Three Mrs. Greys follow the story of three women who, unknowingly, share a common interest. From the beginning, I was hooked. I am a sticker for multiple pov's so I was in heaven reading thru the book. The twist and turns, the "who done its", coupled with everyone thinking they have the smoking gun kept me captivated the entire way. Even though you are kind of clued in on who the "villian" is a little ways before the ending, the storyline once it's revealed carries on a life of its own. I don't particularly like books with cliffhangers but because I enjoyed this one so much, I didn't mind. This book is easily one of my favorite books so far this year. Very suspenseful, engaging and dramatic. I absolutely enjoyed it and would recommend it! This won't be the last Shelly Ellis book I read.
Thanks so much to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I round this is quick and easy read with a nice cast of characters - I enjoyed the characterisation of each wife as she felt uniquely herself which can be difficult to do. I do feel there was a certain lack of 'thrills' or mystery that last longer than a chapter at a time that was a bit of a shame. I would also suggested the more is done to make clear to readers this is the first in a series as it is nowhere on goodreads or netgalley and this could set a lot of people up for disappointment if they expect resolution come the end of the book.
This is the kind of book that gets you out of a reading slump. Incredibly written, author Shelly Ellis takes you a journey that you won't forget. This is one of my favorite domestic thrillers ever.
I really enjoyed the set-up of this book and the concept is great, it's excellent for a suspense but it just didn't keep my attention the whole way through. Some of the characters felt too caricature and not 3-D but I felt like the book was almost there.
3.5 stars for me.
Imagine finding out that your husband has not only one other wife, he has 2 other wives.
When do you find out? The day he is shot and all three of you show up to the hospital.
Cyrus is not a likeable person/husband but he does have money .
You can't help feel bad for the ladies at the same time you are hoping they get their revenge on Cyrus.
That's not the only secret Cyrus is hiding. Do his wives have their own secrets.
The ending is a cliff hanger and we will have to wait for the sequel. I do hope the three ladies pool their resources and go after Cyrus.
Thanks to NetGalley, Kensington Books for an intriguing read.
This book was totally unbelievable and had a cast of characters that were completely unlikable! The book ends with everything unresolved as “we wait to see what happens in the next entry in the series”! Too bad I’ll never know how it all ends, but frankly I don’t really care!
As the title indicated yep there are three Mrs. Grey and all three are brought together when hubby is rushed to the hospital as he has been shot!
They meet one another in the hospital!
Story a quick read. Time period is a week. POV alternating with each wife: Vanessa, Noelle and Diamond ending with Cyrus
I got into this at first as they each had someone in their lives who could have shot Cyrus Grey.
But soon I really didn’t care for any of these foul mouth unlikeable characters.
I hung in there. It does end with a teaser and bit of cliff hanger
I want to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for professional review purposes only.

Dear reader,
I struggle to come up with new ways to say that I would read a Shelly Ellis book if it was an interpretation of the phone book.
I'm just playing. I am a mood reader, though and I'm always in the mood for a juicy, drama filled Ellis novel. She has a distinctive style that I love, where one plot point piles on another until you're not sure how the characters are going to untwist the knots. Sometimes I can guess but I delight in being wrong.
The Three Mrs. Greys is the story of one man and three women. Some of my fave Lifetime movie plots are the ones where one character is leading a double life and I always secretly wonder where they get all that energy (and money!!) from because DANG. Cyrus had three whole wives and none of them knew about each other–until Cyrus is shot and they each show up at the hospital to care for her husband and find out that they're not the only Mrs. Grey.
So what do you do when you find out your husband has not only been cheating, but he has two other wives? Like, not just girlfriends, side pieces, chicks he's messing with but WIVES??? I mean, I can say what *I* would do and it might involve shooting him if he wasn't already shot.
I see that a few reviewers have said they knew who shot Cyrus but *shrug* despite reading a lot of mysteries and domestic thrillers, I didn't guess... mostly because at least one of his wives (or her... associate (s) had reason to get rid of him and there were a few clues to point us elsewhere-- Bilal? Julius?)
If there's a super dramatic option, I'm going to go for that one.
Already looking for book two, because I need to see how this three wives situation pans out. I'm guessing... not well. And I'm READY FOR IT.
The Three Mrs. Greys is well paced, well written, full of patented Shelly Ellis domestic drama and a supremely entertaining read that leaves you wanting more. ASAP.
I loved the premise of this book, but ultimately struggled due to what felt like unedited writing. It was distracting enough to keep me from being focused on the main story, which circled around 3 women + Cyrus, Noelle's husband. I don't know if it's because it was an early copy, but usually even in early copies, these things are corrected.
3 different women. One man. Lots of danger.
Loved this suspenseful novel! A man on his deathbed is suddenly revealed as a polygamist and his unsuspecting wives are thrown into a rollercoaster of deceit as secrets are revealed.
What do you do when you find out your husband has been shot and told to come to the hospital right away? While your waiting to hear about his condition, the Dr. comes to the waiting room to give an update asking for the patient’s wife, you and another woman both answer to the doctor at the same time. Imagine the shock when you find out that Cyrus Grey is the husband of you both. In the meantime another woman Diamond Grey is being released from the hospital after being with her husband when he was shot and she gets the discharge nurse to take her to the ward where her husband Cyrus is after surgery, in a coma.
The characters were well developed and each character you can feel their emotional rollercoaster of love, hate, psychotic, selfishness ruthless, and just plain dumb at times.
This book was a page-turner for me. It held my attention from the beginning until the end and left me watching to know more. There is so much drama, deceit, secrets, lies, suspense and suspects as to who shot Cyrus Grey and why.
I highly recommend this book to read and looking forward to reading more books by this author.

I voluntarily received a arc from Netgalley and this review is of my honest opinion and thoughts.
"The Three Mrs. Greys" by Sherry Ellis, was an excellent suspense novel. The cliff hanger is sure to leave you wanting more. It caughts you up in great drama as the main character Cyrus Grey is gunned down must be rushed to the hospital.
From there we discover that Cyrus has been a very busy man, as he has been juggling three wives, and trying to maintain three happy homes. We learn this because all three Mrs. Greys arrive to the hospital to comfort and care for him. At this point the proverbial s@%t hits the fan and Vanessa, Noelle, and Diamond struggles for power as THE Mrs. Grey as Cyrus continues his gight of survival.
As he does so, his closet friend turns foe and tries to lure wife number two, Noelle, into his possesion with lies and deceit. Vanessa, wife one, starts he exit plan through divorce. Her plan is to take everything as the rightful first wife and live happily ever after with her sode lover. Diamond deals with het past as it comes back to hunt her as it starts to point at her as a potential suspect and Cryus continues his fight for life.
As Cyrus begins his recovery. He also tries to hold on to the remainder of his secrets, attempts to mend his shattered life, looking over his shoulder (because the shooter is still on the loose.)
The Three Mrs. Greys truly set the stage for true page turning mystery from chapter one and the cliffhanger was everything I think I needed. I think you mayi enjoy it too! Thanks to Netgally and Dafina Kensington Book for my ARC. This is my honest and humble opinion.
I loved the bits of suspense and the cliff hangar. I was interested in this story for the duration of the book!
Having three wives could be problematic enough, until you get shot and they find out about each other. But now, your biggest problem is the person that had something to do with the shooting because they’re preying on one of your wives.
Cyrus was living three separate lives in complete bliss, until the day he was shot and three Mrs Greys arrive at the hospital. His life is turned upside down while he is still asleep. Without a chance to speak for himself, his business partner, Tariq gets involved with Cyrus’s middle wife, Noelle. Tariq misinforms Noelle, and begins to alienate her from Cyrus even before he wakes up. In the meantime, Cyrus’s first wife Vanessa is planning a divorce. As the first wife, she thinks she’ll get most of Cyrus’s assets, so her and her boy toy can live the life she’s accustomed to. Diamond is having many of her own personal problems- as a man from her past has found his way into her life, and has implicated her as an accomplice to Cyrus’s shooting.
Cyrus is on the mend, and now he needs to figure out a way to come out on top and take back what’s his. It’s up to him to smooth things over with his wives, and keep his secrets but is his life still in jeopardy? How long will he have to keep looking over his shoulder?
The Three Mrs. Greys introduces us to three women: Vanessa, Noelle, and Diamond. For all of their differences, they have one thing in common; they are all married to Cyrus Grey. Sadly, none of them are aware of this until Cyrus is gunned down and ends up fighting for his life while his wives end up fighting each other as they each stake their claim as the real Mrs. Grey. Fighting each other proves to be futile when the shooter is still at large and the police have their reasons to suspect each wife.
This book was explosive from chapter one. It drew us in quickly as we got submerged in the mystery of who shot Cyrus Grey. There was no lack of twists in this novel. From Vanessa’s questionable behavior, enormous stupidity, and loose lips as an older woman, to Noelle’s nosiness and sweet spirit, to Diamond’s naivety and misfortunes, this book was steeped in suspense and good old-fashioned DRAMA. What was off-putting was the incessant use of exclamation marks. It made it appear as if the characters were always yelling even during calm conversation. Also, there was a bit of predictability at one point with Tariq. In the end, the book is a power punched read that will having you eagerly flipping page after page.
Thank you NetGalley for this book and we are voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Imagine finding out your husband had been shot, then hearing that he had 2 other wives! This is the premise of the Three Mrs Greys. The book was written from the perspective of all 3 women, each married to Mr Grey for varying amounts of time. Not all is as it seems, in more ways than one! The book is written in a black woman's vernacular - there is clearly a target audience here! Pretty good book.
this book had potential but it went nowhere, superficial characters and stereotipical characters, boring storyline and no resolution, the book just ended and they want you to read the next one to find out what happened, which is a big rip off and of course not worth it in this case
