Olivia a budding writer shares a moment in time with an aspiring young actor in a cafe on 4th February 2003. They promise each other to not give up on their dreams and to meet again same time, same place, same date but in ten years time., when her screenplay will be written and he will act in it.
Each chapter is about what is happening in Olivia's life each February 4th for the years up until 2013.
I really liked this as the author really captures the highs and lows and changes of relationships/friendships over this period of time. This is a true love story that ends up surviving the distractions and obstacles put in its path. Overall Rating 3.5 stars

There are definitely threads in this book that are lovely—the relationship between Fiona and Olivia, for one, but overall the book is so dialogue heavy and the dialogue is stilted. So much dialogue also creates a frenzied sense that I don’t think is intentional.
I was provided with an ARC by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

I received an ARC from Net Galley, and I'm honestly not sure how I felt about this book. I think it had a great premise, but I felt let down by the plot. Olivia's relationship with Fiona just didn't make sense to me. It felt weird for them to be childhood best friends yet all this random tension between them. The time jumps also made me confused about Olivia's love life. Like one moment we were suddenly learning she had been cheated on by a guy named Malcolm, which would mean something if we knew who he was, but we didn't so it just kind of felt like it was just there. There were a lot of moments where I had to just remember the point of fiction was to suspend your disbelief, but I still found it hard to believe Fiona landed all these amazing jobs without any real experience (Vera Wang??) and that Olivia would just run into and have all of these celebs falling for her. By the end, I just really wanted her to see Hamish so having it NOT be him and also her ending up with Liam was just weird. It felt odd for her to end up with him considering how it had hurt her relationship with Fiona previously. In short, this book raises some questions but it's still good if you're looking for a nice quick read with lots of quirky moments. #netgalley

I very much enjoyed reading this! I was so excited when I got approved.
Plot Twist was an absolute fun read! I enjoyed literally everything about it.
The writing is so unique and crisp. Just a fun book!

This was a fun, original romantic comedy that I thoroughly enjoyed, and there was, indeed, a plot twist at the end that I would never have guessed. Of note: this is published by a Christian publisher but there is absolutely nothing overtly Christian in this book -- no mention of church or prayer or anything -- unless the absence of sex and swearing counts.
*Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

Wow… I am simply out of adjectives to describe this book. I went in expecting an average rom-com but hours later, I still haven’t come down from the high of reading this amazingly beautiful story of love and friendship.
Olivia Ross – thirty-year old greeting card writer and aspiring screenplay writer- has a bizzare meet cute with a struggling actor at a coffee shop. Though they forget to exchange names, they do make a pact to meet ten years later on the same day at the same place, when they have both achieved their dreams. The next ten years have Olivia balancing relationships and struggling with her ever-changing screenplay as the deadline for the rendezvous draws closer.
Though the concept of the story is reminiscent of movies like Serendipity and Sleepless in Seattle, I loved the brilliant way the author carried the plot, showcasing the characters' journey from one Feb. 4th to the next, over a decade. Olivia's self-deprecation was relatable, Fiona was charming, though, at times annoying and Liam managed to break my heart every time he was mentioned. The writing was witty and heartfelt; I wept at Olivia's heartbreaks, cheered for her along with Fiona and empathised with Liam's unrequited love. I felt that the ending had two parts; one, the most awaited one, was truly a plot twist while the second part, though clichéd, was what I was rooting for throughout the book.
This was such a heartfelt and angst-ridden story, peppered with enough humour and sarcasm to keep it from being too mushy. Despite covering a decade, the pace didn't drag or falter at any point which made reading all the more enjoyable.
I can't praise this book enough, I loved it that much. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

So so good! Guys I thought I had this one pegged from chapter three. Turns out I was wrong. I love a good romance & love that they always have happy endings. However 8 times out of 10 you can guess the plot from the beginning. Turns out I was wrong this time. Loved the growth of the main character throughout this story. Really liked it & would recommend!

Okay, so I loved this! I binged it in one night, it was that cute. I had to know what happened at the end. I knew what I wanted to happen, so I had to see if I was right. There was also a cute and funny little twist toward the end. I wanted more though! Like a short epilogue or something.
I liked that they were all a little older - their 30s. I feel like so often these days the characters are in their lower 20s (is this just me getting older and noticing? yikes) and so it was refreshing that they were a little older.
Liam was interesting - it was like he completely changed though? He was presented one way and then changed into someone different. I liked the change, but it felt super random. It did get explained like 3/4 of the way through the book, but I wish it had been addressed before then. All in all though, he was great.

We first meet Olivia in coffee shop on February 4, 2003. After she and a handsome, struggling actor have a near-magic encounter in a coffee shop, they make a spontaneous pact: in ten years, after they’ve found the success they’re just sure they’re going to achieve, they’ll return to the coffeehouse to partner up and make a film together. The only problem? Olivia neglected to get the stranger’s name. But she doesn’t forget the date.
We follow Olivia ever Feb 4 and the events that take place till the 10 year reunion with mysterious handsome coffee shop man. Personally the beginning was hard to get into past the meet cute. It wasn't till midway did I really get invested. Olivia at times would be in her head too much and make comparisons to movies. It started to become too repetitive. At first I did want an alternate point of view but then the story. became more than just trying to meet back up with the actor so I was ok with staying in Olivias mind.
I will say that my idea of what the story was going to be did change as I read. While the concept isn't new, the way the story unfolded had some interesting twists. Hence the title. The ending for sure surprised me.
Overall I thought it was cute and fast paced.

i have just finished and i honestly don’t even know how to put everything i want to say into words. there is so much i want to write about and i’m still very overwhelmed because of all the things this book made me feel; i was not ready at all.
firstly, i must say that it took me by a total surprise. i did expect to like it because the description was very interesting and all the reviews i saw were positive. but i thought it’s just going to be an enjoyable read, nothing else. i surely did not expect to love this story so much, to get attached to the characters so deeply and to end up sobbing because what was happening in the book was too much for my heart to handle.
the idea of the story ifself is amazing. it’s original and interesting and i was very curious to see how the author is going to show what had been happening in the ten years between two meetings of our characters. and it was done very well. every 4th of february had something new and fresh to offer and reading about all the adventures olivia had in that day was incredibly entertaining and i was not bored for a single second. and olivia herself was absolutely fantastic. i have loved that woman since the first page and kept adoring her until the very last. yes, she did have her flaws, but she was an amazing character and having a heroine like her made the story even better.
the romance was excellent. the chemistry, the mutual-pining, the unrequited love (that wasn’t really unrequited but one side did not know that) - all of this made my heart melt and break at the same time. i cried three times during reading and yes, maybe it was a little bit because of the fact that i’m crier and i come apart easily, but it was truly heart-shattering what was happening at some point. until the last pages i was not sure if i’m going to get my happy ending which made me even more emotional.
speaking of relationships i must talk about olivia and fiona. both of them weren’t perfect, their friendship wasn’t perfect but it was still one of my favourite elements of this book. it was great to read that they were friends since they were born and even though they grew apart at some point when they were busy living their own lives, they still met together at the end. these kinds of friendships that are always present no matter what are incredible and i loved that it was such a big part of the story. what they were ready to do for each other, what to give up for each other - absolutely superb.

The premise of this book definitely strains credulity, but once you buckle in for the silly premise, you're treated to a lovely voice and a sweet romance. Definitely recommended!

Olivia meets an aspiring actor and generally sexy-Irish man in a coffee shop. They make a pact to meet up in exactly 10 years to swap their Hollywood success stories (she is an aspiring screenwriter). For the next decade, Olivia’s life takes a twist every anniversary of their meeting until one final plot twist when the 10 years is up.
I struggled some with this book. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. My first issue was that each chapter was the same date each year for 10 years. While I like the concept, the execution was that the first half of the chapter was a dump of information about everything that had happened in the last year and then the second half was what actually happened on that day.
I didn't love Olivia's self-depreciation and how strongly she held on to the idea that she was a so-called supporting character. And unfortunately, she doesn't really grow out of this through the 10 years. She makes the same mistakes over and over and over and I found it kind of annoying to watch.
Finally, the characters and their ages. As someone in their thirties, it made no sense to me that these characters were also in their thirties and into their forties. Their personalities and the way they floundered through life made it seem much more like they were 20-somethings. Not saying people in their 30s need to have everything all together, these characters just seemed over the top.
This book started off promising, but by the last page, I just wanted it over. I couldn't even really appreciate the final twist. While this story is unfortunately not what I thought it would be and definitely wasn’t my cup of tea, if you like stories about people missing opportunities and getting second (third, fourth, fifth, etc.) chances at destined romance, this book would definitely be for you.

I tried really very hard to like this book but I couldn't like it much .The story is cliche to me .The girl is shown in a very negative light "according to me " where she has been in bad relationships leading her to a new one .
What I could infer is ,she did like the guy at the coffee shop much but when she got to know he is a well known actor butterflies fly in her stomach.
I liked the concept of the book but I had some issues with the way Olivia was presented

Let me start off by saying I was pleasantly surprised by this story. In reading the premise, I had my own expectations of how the story would go, which Bethany Turner exceeded and caught me off guard! Each chapter focuses on one day per year, February 4, for ten years. You learn so much in that one day, rather than having to read mundane details of the in between to find out how the characters have changed. Olivia, Fiona, and Liam are characters you can’t help but love and root for, despite the infuriating decisions they make! A page turner for sure!
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the electronic copy in exchange for my honest review!

Plot Twist was a very sweet, romantic book that was sometimes more about friendship than the romance itself. It definitely requires suspending disbelief, but the core premise kept me hooked. I really wanted to know what would happen. Olivia's decisions were at times puzzling and sometimes downright infuriating, but I still wanted to know where her choices would take her, and I wanted her to succeed even when I wasn't convinced she deserved to. The title is right, there is a plot twist, more than one, and I didn't see it coming. I would have loved more of Liam, and I think the same story could have been even better with a bit more realism, I was invested in these characters and kept turning the pages until I reached an ending that made the whole ride worthwhile.

Thank you Netgalley for one of what will surely be one of the best books of 2021. The story reminiscent of Sleepless in Seattle made the best backdrop. Olivia’s favorite day for the next 10 years is a story you get lost in as you read each chapter. The ending is a perfect twist as the title suggests. Bethany Turners books are funny, engaging and a joy to read.

Plot Twist was too angsty for me. I read approximately half of the book before being unable to take any more of Olivia’s choices, which continually broke her own heart, and Liam’s. At that point, I just flipped to the end to see if the novel ended as I suspected. (It did.) I really liked the premise of this book, and the writing was good, but my days of reading books with infuriating heroines are over.

I received this novel as an ARC from NetGalley. A chance encounter in a coffee shop between two strangers leads to a promise between an actor and a writer. They plan to reunite in ten years after he’s a famous actor and she’s written the screenplay! As expected things do not go as planned and Olivia begins to have trouble seeing what’s right in front of her. I’d recommend this book as a light, fun quick read.

What a plot twist! .... never expect it to turn out like this. Ten years with a date in mind, ten years of spending every fourth of February waiting for destiny and in the middle is this great character protecting her feelings, afraid of being the protagonist of her own life .
.
A beautiful story but I confess that at times I hate it. I suffered a lot every step to the side, every "almost" moment between the characters, I don't remember having suffered like this since "Love Rosie". But it was worth it for that plot twist and that ending. The only thing I did not like is how in decisive situations the story stopped to rethink all possible scenarios, that made me a little anxious. But everything is forgiven after that closing.
.
A good story of love, and friendship. A romance that had me biting my nails a large part of its pages. It's my first book of Bethany Turner and I hope I can read more soon

The whole adage of “Don’t judge a book by its cover” is completely lost on me, and I was so drawn to the graphic design of this book’s cover on Netgalley that I didn’t even read the summary before I requested an ARC of this book.
The summary (from Goodreads)
February 4, 2003, is just another day for Olivia Ross—a greeting card writer whose passion project is a screenplay of her own.
I was immediately hooked by this story, right from the opening few pages. It’s always a good sign when I want to highlight a passage or leave a note for later, and I did with this book in chapter one. There were some very well-written snippets, even some laugh-out-loud moments, but it wasn’t enough to distract me from the very poor plot development. This brings me to what I didn’t like about this book.
While I didn’t hate the episodic “same day each subsequent year” chapter set up, a la David Nicholls’s One Day, it drew out the story in a way that was hard to stomach. Each chapter presented a mini “info dump”, where the author hurriedly explains the cliff notes of the prior year’s events. You also found yourself waiting for some sort of happiness for the protagonist over a DECADE of her life, which is brutal.
Finally, I didn’t relate at all to the main character. I someone found her to be not good enough of a friend to her bestie, but also somehow overly devoted to her in an unhealthy way. Her crippling insecurities and poor sense of self were hard to bear. The person that the characters around her described didn’t seem to match with the portrait the author was painting of her via her thoughts and actions.
I finished this book in one day, which speaks for my investment in the story. The investment in the story was the only reason why I will give this book two stars out of five.
