I was excited to review The Mindful Kids Activity Book by Louison Nielman. The book is divided into three sections: How to Calm Your Anger, How to Concentrate, and How to Relax. Each section consists of mindfulness activities for children. I had high hopes for this book but found the activities to be somewhat lacking in innovativeness. #TheMindfulKidsActivityBook #NetGalley

I think there are some parents that find this book is great for their kids, but overall i am not a fan. It pays way more attention to the “mindful” and it’s more like a workbook for working through anger and other issues.

This book will help kids to feel better through the use of mindfulness. Sixty activities are included. They are divided into three areas: How to Calm Your Anger; How to Concentrate; and How to Relax. There is an animal for each category; Bailey the Bear, Katie the Kangaroo and Ricky the Rabbit accompany children as they participate.

This book is a useful resource for all of the adults in a children’s life including, but not limited to, parents, teaches and mental health professionals, to use with a child they know. An adult and child may want to work on this book together. The activities may be done in any order that makes sense.

All of the activities in this book can be done by fairly young children. The illustrations throughout are inviting and will encourage kids to become involved. Some of the activities involve art work or mazes while others involve physical activity.

This title will help hildren to better understand themselves and they will have some fun along the way. What could be better!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Nice activity book for kids. It May help when they are emotional or angry. Not a good book for the library as there are too many activities and prompts to write inside the book.

I was excited to find The Mindful Kids Activity Book on the Netgalley shelves and eager to read. This book is a collection of activities for children needing help regulating anger, concentrating, and relaxing. Often mindfulness books for children are too existential and the message is lost in lofty metaphors. I really wanted to like this book and be able to use it within my clinical therapy practice. Unfortunately, I think the exercises were not unique or innovative. I also found the illustrations to be distracting. My biggest barrier with this book is the switch between animal characters and child characters. I was lost as to who was narrating and introducing the various skills and fear that child readers would be as well. Age-appropriate mindfulness resources are important and needed but this book misses the mark.

Netgalley, thank you for the opportunity to preview and review this book.

While the idea is great, the activities would not be useful for the age that would understand. I got annoyed rather quickly with this and had to just close it. Close, but not quite.

Thanks NetGalley, I just reviewed The Mindful Kids Activity Book by Louison Nielman. #TheMindfulKidsActivityBook #NetGalley

This is a young child's activity book with an overhanging theme of controlling and calming your anger, learning to better concentrate and to relax.

I think this book is very much like any activity book for kids. The the themed sections are somewhat unique, but not overpowering the activities.

This is the best Mindful and Anxiety revealing book I have seen in a long time. It is meant for children, but I found myself doing the activities to release my own stress. This would be perfect for a child that needed a break during the school day, or needed some calmness at home. There is a variety of activities, where it gets your mind off of your emotions, but also allowing the person to deal with what is going on. There are small helpful hints as well throughout the book. I would recommend this book to anyone that struggles with anxiety or for a classroom that a brain break needs to happen.

This is such a great and important book for kids to have! I think it would be great for early elementary teachers to keep in their classrooms, or parents to keep at home. It focuses on teaching children how to calm anger, concentrate, and relax, which are all still important even as adults! The illustrations and stories were accompanied by fun activities, and the characters did a great job of explaining the terms. Overall a great book!
