Having read the first one could not pass this one up. Lilah is a FBI profiler that has us even inside of the mind of a killer. Now though one is centered around a tattoo that has us scratching our head too. Now back to her hometown she goes but so does the killer. On our guard we do become. Secrets need to come out which we love to see what those are. She has us wrapped up in this one as the answers come.
Book 2 of 6 in the Lilah Love series: intriguing and as always well paced, but I'm not sure it will keep my interest for 6 books.
It’s Lilah Love’s job to inhabit a killer’s mind. The unapologetically tough FBI profiler is very comfortable there. But her latest case is making her head spin. It’s a string of brutal assassinations carried out across the country, each tied to a mysterious tattoo.
A cross between Criminal Minds and CSI, this book has a touch of everything for us crime junkies and Lisa Renee Jones did an amazing job of keeping the suspense up.
“‘Our women are off-limits. Always.’
‘I’m not your woman, Kane. Not for two years. And I thought you didn’t chop off heads like your father?’
‘Beautiful, I can still smell you on my skin. Taste you on my lips if I try hard enough.’”
Murder Girl by Lisa Renee Jones tells the on-going story of FBI agent Lilah Love and the cases that led her straight to her home town and even to her father who is preparing to run for governor. Her ex or maybe ex Kane, who is known as the possible head of a mafia organization ties himself to her and to the case she is involved in, and Lilah is constantly loosing sight of who her allies are and who can really be trusted.
I really enjoy Jones witting style. To be honest, the mystery, and the crime are sort of interesting to me but the most interesting is the romance with Kane. This book ended on a cliff hanger, and it does feel a bit like one continuous story with random breaks to sell another book, but the story feels worth it to me. I give this one 4 stars and will definitely be reading the next installment.
Review has also been posted to Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes and Noble. I will also share about it on my instagram account
The story of Lilah love continuesmaking it important that you have read book 1 Murder notes before reading this book. Am still loving this character and tale and what I really enjoy is it keeps you guessing. Just when I thimk I have it figured out then that character dies! Another great read from Lisa Renee Jones and as only part of the mystery has been solved on to book 3 for me.
Fast moving and a great continuation from the last book. I'm really enjoying this author!! She really manages to pull you in
Second book in the series. Was a bit surprised that the last book ended so quickly but this book starts back up right where we were
Lilah and Kane's relationship dynamic is interesting both on other side's of the law and I loved the setting of the Hampton's.
Really good follow up to the first book
Murder Girl by Lisa Renee Jones is the 2nd book in the Lilah Love series. Lilah is an FBI profiler chasing a killer from California to her home town of the Hampton's. Lilah is not a very likable person, she cusses like a sailor and has a lot of issues. Lilah has a love/hate relationship with her former fiance Kane Mendez, who's father was the head of the cartel. I love this book, and can not wait to read the next book in the series. This book has non stop action, twists and turns that kept me hooked until the end. I can not wait to read book three. I love these books and their unique story lines, and strongly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This sequel to Murder Notes picks up right where it left off. I really wanted to like this series, the characters and story line have so much potential, unfortunately I don't think it lived up to it. In a well written series, the recap from previous books should be woven into the story skillfully, without being repetitive and each book can be read as a stand alone novel. In this case the recap was done in a foreword. The story line was interesting and the characters were well rounded but there was too much repetitiveness and the conspiracy theory felt forced and a bit far fetched. Overall it was good, but not great.
If you want to read a fast moving suspenseful thriller this is the book for you. 'Murder Girl' by Lisa Renee Jones the second book of the Lilah Love series which continues the story of Lilah Love an FBI agent. I highly recommend reading 'Murder Notes'the first book of the series. Ms. Jones does a quick character review of her first book but it is not enough to understand the depth of each character. Every character has secretes which build as you read. 'Murder Girl' is a notable mystery which will not want to put down. Thank you NetGalley for giving me this book.
A solid 4-stars, which is quite rare for me. So, back with Lilah Love. I'd have to say that there are a few too many fucks in these books, and Lilah can seriously be SO stubborn, and so ridiculous, but then after a while the fucks don't bother (I'm not a prude, at all, but there are many, the pages are riddled with them, as much as they are Lilah's angst and dodgy family dealings. And that's a lot).
I adore Kane, think Andrew is an idiot and as for Rich and Lucas... meh. But this book, as with the first one, ended on a cliffhanger and now, of course, I have to go back into that racy, vengeance, and blood-feud-filled world once more, and frankly, I can certainly think of worse things to do. I want to be right there when Pocher discovers the truth, and when Lilah's father discovers that playing with sharks may very well get you into trouble. A lot of it.
Thanks to Lisa Renee Jones and Net Galley for my ARC.
This book takes off right where book 1 ended, there is a recap in the beginning so technically you could read it without picking up the first book, but I wouldn't recommend doing that since in my opinion these 2 books actually are one book.
I liked this a bit better than #1, I guess because special agent Lilah Love grows on you and the repetitive thinking about being bad is actually less than on *every* page in Murder Notes.
The plot develops more and we get some answers to questions raised in book 1, this sort of wraps up at the end, but doesn't give the answers to everything as indicated by the existence of books number 3 and 4 in the series.
The overall premise of the organization of bad guys and not knowing who you can and cannot trust, coupled with the fact that I do like the Kane/Lilah pairing means that I will give the other books in the series a shot too. I am enjoying myself with this series, it's pleasant reading, but just a little too much that I don't completely like to give it more than 3 stars. Yet this is a personal preference in writing style and I can safely recommend this book to anyone who likes a mystery with an unorthodox main character and who doesn't mind the necessity to read a series instead of one book to get the answers you are looking for.
*** An ARC was provided by Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. ***
3.5 some things resolved; quite a few others not yet stars
This is book 2 in the series featuring Lilah Love, FBI agent whose favorite word is the f-bomb and favorite thing to do is whatever she effing wants to at the time. Note that this is not a standalone; it picks up right where book one (Murder Notes) left off, and it ends with some things left open-ended.
To get more information about the story and our h, check out my review of book 1 --> https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3777000828?book_show_action=false&from_review_page=1 I don't want to go into details because it would definitely give things away, but the main mystery (as in who killed the people that lured Lilah back to NY) is resolved at the end of this book. And while it was mostly satisfying, it was a little anti-climactic for me given the build-up. BUT since there are more pieces in play, and Lilah is now aware of something key that she did not know about to this point, I feel like the story is moving in a very interesting direction. So I am onto the next!
Plot --- 3.5/5
Main Characters --- 4/5
Supporting Cast --- 3.5/5
Steam Level* --- 2.5/5
Violence --- not overly graphic but crime scenes and attack flashbacks
Language --- Lilah's fave word is the f-bomb
POV --- 1st (Lilah's)
*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild (nothing descriptive); 2/5 - 3rd base action/1 home run; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere (a couple of full-on steamy scenes); 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory); 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher the opportunity to read this book. Lilah Love is back continuing where Murder Notes left off - back in the Hamptons with past love Kane, love, love their sexy witty banter. These books need to be made into a movie!
I love the fact this literally picks up where the first book ends, bad thing is again I could not put it down until I finished it. The more I read the more I love Lilah & Kane. Lilah is bizarrely addicting with her abrasive and no holding back attitude. I love how her mind thinks and takes in the world around her. This book is again filled with great characters, fast-paced action, and an interesting plot. I look forward to book three.
WOW! FBI agent sleeps with the bad guy, has crooked family members, and kicks ass every day anyway. She isn't really likable but her attitude is amazing. I can't say any of the characters really grabbed me. But the overall story is a good one with plenty of twists to keep me flipping the pages. I was entertained.
Unsolved and mysterious cases, interconnected murders and two families that aren’t exactly what they pretend to be, in this second book of Lilah Love series, I found myself immersed into a world that I have no idea how everything will be unveiled and solved. There are so many layers and secrets to be discovered, so many unpredictable twists that kept me guessing throughout the book from the beginning to the end. And of course, I love the romance side story and Kane is that hero that you hate but fall in love with even if he plays a villain part. Another cliffy end as this is a 4 books series but I enjoyed it even if I hate cliffhangers.
Bestselling author, Lisa Renee Jones, introduces a new series with protagonist Lilah Love, who is an FBI profiler. Both Murder Notes and Murder Girl are part of what is dubbed as a Murder Duet. Love, is working FBI on the west coast, but a murder investigation takes her back to her hometown in the Hamptons where her father is mayor and brother is chief of police. Lilah chases clues and is assisted by her ex-boyfriend and supposed mob boss, Kane Mendez, who is still in love with Lilah and protects her. Readers will find that the ending of the first of these novels ends in a cliffhanger, and it is necessary to read them together to get the full story.
Most thriller aficionados read series with characters that they like and can relate to, this series is a bit different. While Lilah Love is attractive and grew up privileged and entitled, she has a filthy mouth and does not exhibit even a trace of class. Her favorite word is F**k, and it is used dozens of times whenever Lilah is mentioned. Partly because of this, and because of Lilah’s lack of morals, it is certainly not endearing. Nor is it cute. It does not contribute to making this new series fun or enjoyable. Actually, Lilah as a protagonist, is a terrible character, and anyone with a lick of honor won’t like her.
While the story is well-written, it is difficult to get into a book where the main character is unlikeable. The book is actually a romantic thriller, and the emphasis in both books is on the relationship between Lilah and Kane with not much emphasis on the actually storyline and the actual crimes being committed.
Readers looking for a new series may want to skip this one, unless they like to read profanity rather than meaningful words.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I finished Murder Notes (Lilah Love #1), dove straight into this, and plowed straight through to the third in the series, only pausing long enough to make sure the next book was queued up on my kindle.
Lisa Renee Jones thoughtfully includes a detailed recap of LL#1 in case you are just joining the series, however it is worth it to read in full.
Still in the Hamptons, things are only getting more complicated the deeper she looks, and the more she looks, the more people try and stop her. Life is getting messy for Lilah as she not only deals with murder, but with the memories that the Hamptons bring.
Glitz, Glamour, and Grime.
I am hooked on this series!
Facts: Murder Girl is book #2 of Lilah Love series by NY Times, and USA Today best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones. It is the continuation of Murder Notes told from the heroine's point of view with a partial mystery solved ending. Genres: Women Sleuths | Romantic Suspense. Tropes: Alpha hero | love triangle
Murder Girl, the second installment and conclusion of the first Lilah Love duet picks up where Murder Notes left behind. It is fast paced and brimming secrets that lead to interesting plot twists, some answers to the previous book and more questions for the ones to follow.
Unapologetic as ever, FBI Special Agent Lilah Love is as fiercely determined to catch the bad guy and no one, not even her family, will stop her but perhaps Kane Mendez will be able to help her.
While Lilah is piecing together the clues to catch a killer that indicate a connection with her family and a secret shares with Kane, she’s also conflicted with his involvement in her life because of his absence during the past years and his strong ties with the wrong side of the law, she acknowledges that her badge and adherence to the law balances them out.
I was drawn by the intrigue, but kept glued to my eReader because of the wonderful job developing Lilah Love’s characters. I really like her no nonsense, tough persona which is absolutely necessary in the male dominated world she works in.
