Adrian thinks he's worthy of no one because of what he did while he was undercover. Not his friends family and certainly not Pri. Pri learns that he's more than worthy, but drama ensues and a blankity blank cliffy
Jones is always a guaranteed good read. Again she has given us great characters and lots of action.
Adrian, the epitome of the tortured hero, is great. He thinks he's dirty and spends a lot of time thinking Priscilla is too good for him because he's too damaged but she, and I, are not fooled by his negativity. He's good to the core. As good a man as a woman could want but not too good to be true. The fact that he's tortured tell us exactly that he's still a good man. The attraction is immediate and though he's not sure he can trust Pri because he knows too well how easily the King Devil can buy or intimidate people, he's still watching out for her. The trust between them takes time which feel natural.
Pri also feels she's damaged. She regrets her work as a criminal defense lawyer and is every day atoning for that with her ADA job. She's determined to win this case and do her small part to save the world. She must also be suspicious of every one around her. She too smart to trust easily.
These two were so likeable and strong. They were great together. The suspense was good and moved at a good pace. But alas, as is her way, Jones leaves us with a massive cliff hanger and I may have screamed "no" :-)..
I enjoy this author, her drama and suspense is super interesting. What I need to remember, is she is also the queen of the cliffhanger and this book is no exception. I did not realize it was the first of a trilogy and of course the requisite cliffhanger made its appearance. Exciting, interesting read until the very incomplete end. My suggestion is to get all three books before you start.
This book was my first Lisa Renee Jones book and is not my last. I was not sure i was going to enjoy this, since I have never Read a romance book with a criminal before. But I really enjoyed it. Theo is now one of the best male characters i have Read about.
*3.5 stars
The story had a lot of potential and is entertaining/going in the right direction but it drags on a little. The premise of the story is fun, with an ADA and an ex-undercover agent taking down a bad guy but barely anything is revealed about the villain.
What a suspenseful, sexy read! Adrian Ramos and Priscilla Miller make for a compelling couple--he the alpha male, she the independent woman. When their lives collide, both must learn to trust one another. The price if they don't? Possible death. Lisa Renee Jones does a great job of weaving a complicated story that engages the reader and makes them want for more.
I loved this story!
It was fast and furious from the start - I couldn’t put it down!!
This was told in the style that I really enjoy, his view and then hers.
I can’t wait for the second book in the series now as this has a continued storyline.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended – loved it!
A good start to a nice romance. It had amazing characters and lots of plot.It was an easy read and i can't wait to read more.
The beginning of Adrian's trilogy blew me away. It was nail biting from all the danger from the trial coming up. We also got to see Adrian's romantic side. After getting to know him in the Stradavari series, we knew Adrian had a lot of secrets but was a good man. We get to see it more now. So good I can't wait for part 2. I highly recommend.
Okay FBI story with suspense, action, romance. Unfortunately not a lot really happens time wise and it’s another cliffhanger ending, with not a good enough story to make me want to read the next book.
Adrian Mack is ex FBI that did a stint undercover to take down a devil, now with witnesses dying he may be the prosecution’s only line of testimony. To stay alive he gets really close to the assistant DA. The Assistant District Attorney Priscilla Miller takes one look at Adrian and falls into lust.
What did I like? Fast paced book with some really hawt scenes with Pri and Adrian. The book stars the Walker Security men and who doesn’t like a book with Savage :) The book also ends on a serious cliffhanger which isn’t so bad now that book two is out!
Would I recommend? This is a great author who in my opinion has never had a bad book, love the Walker Security Series, and would definitely recommend all of her books. Four stars for a great read!
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left an opinion!
A lot happens in this one, the whole book not more than a couple days, yet it seems longer. I liked Adrian, but he seems lost working at Walker, he wants the ties and yet is afraid of them too. Through this book we find out why and you know part of the reason is he thinks they all will turn on him when they find out what he did. I have a feeling we are going to learn that the powers that be at Walker have known all along and it didn't matter to them at all.
Adrian and Pri were good together, you could feel the instant attraction and I was glad that Pri didn't get too mad at learning just who Adrian was. Pri really understands Adrian because she too did bad stuff when a criminal defense lawyer, things she regrets. Together I think they have a chance at getting the guy they are going after.
I hated how this one ended, only because I don't have the next book right there ready to read.
This book got it all: suspense, action, romance, drama and angst. A terrific book about 2 imperfect but wonderful people. My only complaint is that it is part of a trilogy so the story ends on a cliffhanger. The suspense is going to kill me.... :)
Ugh! Great book but a cliffhanger!! I hate cliffys! It is a trilogy so I did know this but, ugh! The second book is out but I'm not sure if I can do it yet cuz the third book isn't till march 2021! Anyway back to the book! This book had a little bit of everything! It had tons of action, suspense, drama, heartache and heartbreak! Its definitely worth reading just remember it is a cliffhanger! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
