I liked this audiobook. The author's voice was very calming. As for the book, it was just ok for me. If you like plants and eggs then I recommend. Unfortunately, even after just finishing this, I don't remember half the stories other than the eggs and plants.
This book was just what I needed. I couldn't sleep last night and so I spent the evening devouring the pages that Jonny wrote for us. I loved it. I loved his internal monologue, his conflictions, his anxiety... all of the things I feel on an ongoing basis. It felt like someone talking to me about my feelings, someone who KNEW me, but who obviously doesn't actually know me. I felt seen. I felt validated. I felt comforted. I really loved this book. My mind has been hard to quiet these days, and this book was such a comfort. I highly recommend it. It's not extremely long, and it might just get you through another day.
Musings, rememberings, random thoughts, and a reminder to *Slow down, you move too fast. Got to make these moments last.*
Jonny takes the reader through anxiety, sadness, and several kinds of mourning in an introspective and thoughtful way. I'm that glad that he did the narration himself because that is usually the best, and he proved that belief. But when it comes out I will buy the print copy so I can see the hoped for drawings before I give it away to someone who needs it.
I requested and received a free temporary audio from Harper Audio via NetGalley. Thank you!
Thank you NetGalley and HarperAudio for this book in exchange for an honest review.
Jonny Sun is a delight and this book is delightful. Through what I can only describe as musings, Sun describes the world in his careful and descriptive way-- filtering from quick snippets of interactions with friends and advice from loved ones to stories of his family through recipes and restaurants to taking care of various plants throughout his life and the lessons those plants have taught him. In addition, and what, perhaps, makes this book easier to connect with, is his invitation to how his mind works, anxiety included. I listened to the audiobook and it is narrated by Sun. I plan to buy the physical copy to see the illustrations, but highly recommend the audiobook! Although some sections made my heart speed up as I felt my anxiety get triggered, Sun's voice is incredibly soothing and it's nice to hear his thoughts in his voice.
Beautifully written and laid out. I absolutely love love stories and poetry. Most of these you will know. Some I have never heard of before. These stories transported me to another world of love and light. I felt like this book was speaking to me and for me. It was so beautifully written and resonated to my core. Highly recommend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Goodbye, Again" is nothing short of astonishingly beautiful. I've never seen someone so accurately express what anxiety feels like. So relatable. The writing is incredible, Jonny's narration is so natural and engaging...I love everything about this book. Truly.
