Major Lord Felix Knight has always known he was destined for the army and is fiercely loyal to the Crown. Thriving on adventure and danger, there is no room in his life for the love and relationships, which have cast their spells over his brothers. After healing from his time as a prisoner of war, he returns to the Peninsula to continue the fight against Napoleon. Lady Catalina Mendoza has followed the drum with her father since her mother’s death. Men are drawn to her beauty and connections, but without exception, those gentlemen her father deems suitable bore and frustrate her. The only way she can tolerate the tedium is to glean information from her suitors to help her father. One night, she is caught at the game by a devilishly handsome Englishman—and everything changes.
This is the fourth book in the series & is easily read on its own. Felix has always thought that he wouldn’t marry & can't believe his brothers have changed & how happy they are. Catalina is nothing like the image she likes to portray the pair meet & sparks fly. I loved how their relationship developed from suspicion, dislike to finding their soul mate. I also like the mystery surrounding who the traitor was & their motives, which were a revelation. I read the book in two sittings as I was totally engrossed in it. There remained one incident which puzzled me & wasn’t resolved. I look forward to Eugenia’s story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Major Lord Felix Knight is a spy in Wellington's army and he is on the hunt for a traitor. Spain and England are allies against Napoleon's France. The mountainous Basque area is the border between Spain and France can be a dangerous place even without battles and traitors.
Lady Catalina Mendoza looks like a perfect Spanish aristocrat but she has a secret. Her father is in command of the Spanish contingent and is also looking for a traitor.
This is a wonderful historical romance full of intrigue, danger and excitement. The characters are lots of fun, even the canine ones. You might have met our hero in a previous book in the series but that doesn't spoil this one.
Great fun, I loved it.

The Gentlemen Knight Series have all been written with such flair and the Dark of Knight has exceeded my expectations!
I loved the boldness and sauciness of Lady Catalina who was helping her father try to ferret out a possible traitor in their ranks. Lady Catalina is from Spain and currently working with the English to rid their country of the oppressive French.
Major Lord Felix Knight is a career soldier and doesn’t have time for romance, but he is intrigued by the lovely fiery Catalina. The two partner up to figure out who is truly the spy. Could it be an Englishman or is it someone close to Catalinas father?

The writing style of Johns is always a treasure. She draws you into the story and the surrounding area by making you feel as though you are there. The characters leap off the pages and you have to know how the story ends.
I have genuinely enjoyed reading this series and cannot wait to read the next Knight book or Knight friends adventures!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This was another fabulous book by Elizabeth Johns. I have been wanting to read Felix's story since finishing Edmund's. All of the characters are very well-written. Felix being a military man was so different from his brothers and I was not sure the type of lady Johns would decide to write for him. I must say she did an excellent job. Catalina's character was very complex and interesting. The story takes place as the British army is in Spain preparing to go to war with Napoleon, so I did miss the other members of the Knight family. Especially Rowley trying to control the lives of his siblings. I look forward to Eugenia's story. I also would like a book for Felix's fellow officers and friends, Owen's and Everleigh.

This book can be read alone, but this is a wonderful series. One that I will reread one day.

Thank you to Elizabeth Johns, Dragonblade Publishing, and NetGalley for this ARC.
