A decent basic guide to attracting luck. Much of what was recommended was things I already knew. A good reminder of what we need to put into practice.
I loved this little book that dedicates a chapter to all the ways, fanciful and strategic, that you can attract more luck in your life. New Zealand author, Richard Webster, has many author credits to his name, but this particular book provides actionable steps that anyone can do every day to improve the odds of good fortune in their lives. I picked this book up hoping for both practicality as well as a wider look at the concept of luck.
While it was well-written, I don't jive well with the theories presented here. I would have loved it if the author had a bigger understanding of how Luck is seen and approached in other cultures rather than modern new age inspired by The Secret and watered down Hermeticism.
This a great beginners guide to manifestation for those that resonate with it.
This didn’t work out for me. The format was just a list of things followed by anecdotes and some random links to data that the reader can get on Wikipedia. I’ll try to implement some of the points into my life, but nothing was new to me in this book.
Interesting book. There are good ideas and examples.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Luck...something so many of us are looking to bring more of into our lives. This book is a quick read and gives a wonderful introduction on how to bring more opportunities for luck into our lives.
Attracting Your Best Self
While I absolutely adore nonfiction, oftentimes I am disappointed by the shallowness of some books out there, especially brief self-published ones on trendy topics. That's why I found this book to be an absolute delight. It's so much more than just “the secret to attracting luck.” Rather, it is a set of 50 essays about how to develop aspects of yourself that may just happen to help bring you luck. Some typical self-help topics are here, like gratitude, affirmations, and visualization, but it also has more atypical ones as well, like contentment, taking calculated risks, and expanding your mind. At the end of some, but not all, of these 50 sections is a list of exercises that will help you gain a better sense of the topic at hand. I sincerely wish that each section had such a list. What I like about these essays is that the author not only talks about the concept in general but also refers to outside sources about the topic as well. The academic in me appreciates a well-referenced book. This is a great book to read in small chunks. Each of the 50 sections is short but gives you much to think about. Highly recommended.
Really nice ideas and things to do to bring in opportunities of luck into your life. References and examples of these things and gives some things that you could do.
Interesting concept, definitely worth looking over if you're looking to learn about luck. It has some suggestions for mindset, for rituals, and it's easy to read- goes quick!
This is a great book full of wisdom and showing to the reader how to handle many enigmas and the problems of life. Also, it will be of tremendous help to anyone to understand other similar teachings and to have a clear picture about spiritual development. Just few sentences may need little more clarifications. Great text and interesting to read.
A great guide to attracting luck through such things as gratitude, a positive attitude and affirmations. I learned a lot from this book, thank you to the publishers and netgalley for letting me have an advance copy and to the author for enlightening me with his work. I highly recommend this book.
