What a cute book. I have read so many stories lately that are similar storylines, so this was a refreshing book! Janice is a cleaner that loves to hear others stories. Mrs. B asks about her story, and Janice doesn’t feel hers is important- she is just a cleaner. The book goes on to show what she means to all these characters. I think you will enjoy this one :).

Wow, what a fantastic book that kept me rooting for the main character, Janice. Janice had had a hard life and is married to one of life’s takers. She works hard cleaning but along the way she collects other people’s stories never giving away her story. Until that is she starts cleaning for Mrs B, a lady who becomes an import part of Janice's life. I loved Adam, who had lost his father, a dog helped him start to heal and played an important role in the book. The book has so many interesting characters, each with their own story and I loved it.

What a delightful (and at times) book. Seamlessly told and moving in and out of various lives and internal monologues it moved at a clip. For those who can't read all in one sitting this is a book for you. Get a cup of tea, snuggle in to a chair and find yourself peeking into the lives of others.

A lovely story of Janice the cleaner who collects other people’s stories, whilst keeping her own story hidden. When the story does emerge it is sad but ultimately uplifting. Great characters and a wonderful ending.

This was oh so very charming! So many lessons to walk away with here but the main one being everyone is important and nobody should ever be overlooked.

I loved the stories collecting that occurred in the story and see this in real life all the time.

“The Keeper of Stories” by Sally Page is a new read by this new author to this reader. Oh My! I thought this book was just an enjoyable and delightful read…quite a refreshing story. Janice, the cleaner, is a likeable character with her collection of stories. Stories that belong to others. She is married to bore and with the exception of these stories, she really doesn’t see how valuable she is as a person. The book has a host of enjoyable and entertaining characters, and I thought the plot was interesting. This book was beautifully written and to be honest…not quite what I was expecting. From start to finish it was engaging and I did not want to put it down until I finished. It’s just that kind of book that will make you do that. If you are looking for a feel good, emotional and heartfelt story, “The Keeper of Stories” is the book for you. Highly recommend the read.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book is a delight, and I so enjoyed reading it. It does not slot into any particular genre, but it has such broad appeal.
The characterisation of Janice the cleaner, and her many clients that she is involved with to a greater or lesser degree, form the basis of Janice’s many stories. I felt I knew every one of these characters, good and bad. From Janice’s hapless husband, to Mrs Yeahyeahyeah,, to her detestable husband Mr Nonono, every one is brought to life by the clever writing.
The stories are by turns sad, despairing, happy, exasperating, funny and frustrating, pointing up the best of human nature, and the worst. Above all, they show the goodness in most human hearts, and what is possible when such good people work together, in however small a way. Very thought provoking.
It’s such a clever idea for a book, as ‘the cleaner’ is the unseen person in most people’s lives, the someone who restores order and cleanliness to the chaos of their homes, usually when they are at work, or unable or unwilling to do it themselves.
I loved Janice, and I really hope the author will consider a follow-up to this lovely book. I was not ready to leave them all behind when the book was finished, even the nasty ones!
My thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book. I heartily recommend it. Simply wonderful storytelling at its best.

This book resonated with me. A person I know works as a cleaner and she herself collects stories from others. She works in plain sight yet many overlook her or never see her. Oh the stories she tells! Not as a gossip but to her dear friends as an observer of life. I have learned much from her as I did this book.

It's the quiet and unassuming people that often can teach us the most. The loud ones we notice are the ones shouting and not listening.

What a charming read!

What a brilliant novel! So many interesting characters covering a wide range of emotions from grief, anger and guilt to respect, growing confidence and blossoming romance. I fell in love with the cheeky Decius who had an impact on several of the characters' lives. This is my favourite book of the year. Highly recommended.

Keeper of Stories is a lovely, delightful book filled with rich wonderful characters, and an intriguing plot. At the heart of the story is Janice, just a cleaner of houses is how she thinks of herself, and a collector of others stories. As the novel progresses we see Janice is so much more to everyone else, and they value and love her more than she can herself. The characters in this book are beautifully and richly created, and the writing is sublime. It took me a couple of chapters to fully sink into the story but once I did the book took off and I couldn’t put it down.
My big regret is that it’s not available to order for our library in the states. I hope it eventually becomes published here for it would be a shame to deprive so many people of this wonderful debut novel

I loved this book and main character. Janice is a hard working woman, married to a slouch, who doesn't know her own worth. She is “ just a cleaner” but through her daily interactions with her clients we see how truly special she is. Her client's are great characters all on their own. I really enjoyed this. Well done.

Not what I was expecting at all, it was a good book at the beginning, a cleaner picking up stories from the houses she cleaned for. Then she meets people that take her out of her comfort zone and the story really gets going!
Loved the way the characters gelled together, enjoyed the storyline and loved the way it ended....could there be another book in the making?
Thank you netgalley

An absolutely wonderful unputdownable book full of delightful characters and their stories. Janice is an inspirational character and along with Mrs B, the geography teacher Euan, Adam, Fiona, the wonderfully named Mrs Yeahyeahyeah, Mr Nonono and Mike I was swept away to Cambridge, Cairo, Paris as their stories unfold. Refreshing and a beautiful story. Highly recommended.

The Keeper of Stories by Sally Page is the author’s debut book and I found it delightful, funny and sad. It was for me a near perfect read and I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Mrs B in particular in her “ridiculous purple kimono” was an incredible character. She was funny, sly, devious, kind and used to be a spy. As a first novel it was everything a reader wants in a novel and I look forward to reading more by the author in future.
Highly recommended

This was an engaging debut featuring an unexpectedly heartbreaking story, that of cleaner Janice who loves to listen to and collect her clients stories but never reveals anything of her own. When one of her clients persuades her to clean for her cantankerous mother-in-law ‘Mrs B’ Janice realises there’s more to the old lady than first appearances and an intriguing dynamic grows between them. There’s some lovely little stories in here but for me it took until the relationship between Janice and Mrs B developed before I truly got into this, it was really good to see the effect they had on each other and the transformation of Janice.

Cleaner Janice loves to hear and keep stories, but doesn't share her own. Until she meets Mrs B, a lady in her 90's who wants to hear her story.

This book was charming. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it but then I could not put it down. I loved the glimpses into the vastly different character's lives - recently widowed Fiona and her heartbroken son Adam, Opera singer Geordie and the rich and awful Mrs YeahYeahYeah with her fox terrier. Getting to know them all through Janice's insights as their cleaner was unique and such a lovely way of telling the story.

I felt every emotion reading this, and Janice was delightful - I was rooting for her the whole time.

I absolutely loved Janice's time with Mrs B and Janice's own story coming out. Gorgeous book, can't wait to see what else comes from Sally Page.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

The Keeper of Stories by Sally Page

When Janice starts cleaning for Mrs B – a shrewd and tricksy woman in her nineties – she finally meets someone who wants to hear her story. But Janice is clear: she is the keeper of stories, she doesn’t have a story to tell. At least, not one she can share.
What a wonderful idea for a book , and I loved it.
A person that comes into your home , and often when no-one is around , certainly had the ability to look into every aspect of the occupiers lives.
I loved the character Janice and her developing relationship with Mrs B.
A joy to read.
