This book was fun but had a plot that I felt like I've read a lot lately - jilted bride finds romance with traveling companion. I thought the book was slow moving and not very enthralling. The characters of Patrick and Annie were likeable overall. I feel like if a reader enjoys this genre, then they'll really enjoy and appreciate this book.
Annie's escape to Australia was excellent escapism for me. An enjoyable, fun and quick read that I would recommend to friends.

💁🏻♀️💬 My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed the pacing of going from the wedding to non-wedding, to the Australia honeymoon. I enjoyed how Patrick made Annie the center of his universe and all the honest conversations they had with one another. Several good laugh out moments while reading all about the non-honeymoon. However when we get back to London, I felt like Patrick changed. I feel he “explained” this in a way that I could never accept as Annie. I don’t think Annie needed to grovel and apologize to him for things that went down. I loved their dynamic while away, but it fell flat for me once they had their first “fight” and honestly stopped me from rooting for them. I did appreciate it was more of a happy for now instead of a happily ever after ending thiugh especially with the way they changed once they got back to London.
This is the first of Laura’s books and I absolutely loved it. Warm, witty and emotional it hooks you from the very first page. The characters are fabulous and who wouldn’t want their very own Patrick in their lives. A great escapist read and one I can highly recommend. Grab yourself a copy now.
Great novel to bring to the beach! Fast paced, characters are fun, and a few twists and turns! Definitely recommending it for holiday goers.
I loved this book, it was such a good book. Perfect for summer, I love a good summer book, it was a great read and one that everyone will like.
I really loved this. It was a real feel good book.
I found d myself laughing out loud and grinning to myself in many places. A real joy to read, I couldn't have asked for more.
The characters are so well written, and so easy to relate to.
I loved our stop too. Looking forward to reading more from this talented author.
After being jilted at the altar, Annie’s life as she knows it changes completely. The book follows her path of self discovery as she embarks on her honeymoon without her would-of-been husband. Accompanied by an old friend from camp, Patrick, she learns to laugh again, discovers what she wants from life and appreciates what’s around her. 🇦🇺
This is another book I absolutely loved by Laura Jane Williams!! Laura writes about Annie’s feelings and personal growth so well which makes it really easy to empathise with her. I really felt for her trying to discover who she was after spending so many years as one half of a couple. Watching the relationship between Annie and Patrick blossom made my heart smile. I loved how they both slowly got braver and bolder with their flirting and opened up their hearts again after both suffering heartbreak. 👩🏽🤝👨🏼
I was reminiscing throughout as they visited so many spots that I did in Australia a few years ago! Several times this book had me laughing out loud, especially with “your THINGY was lunging at me”. This is such a fun and easy, yet empowering read - the perfect book to escape into! Everyone should read this book and learn not to settle for anything less than magic. 💕
Thank you so much to @laurajaneauthor and @netgalley for my highly anticipated copy of this book - she’s hit it out the park again! However, ‘Our Stop’ will always be my favourite! 💖💛
Cute light summer read. It reminded me of the book unhoneymooners by christina Lauren, so I found myself comparing it the whole time. While i liked unhoneymooners much better, this book was still a good read. The book itself does have a good moral to the story of finding love after heartbreak.
This book was not what I expected at all - it opening with a girl getting ready for her wedding and ended with a wonderful conclusion.
I loved how Annie turned her world around, and the way it was described. After reading the acknowledgements, I can imagine that writing this book was the best way for the author to travel... and she enabled us to travel Down Under and to Europe alongside the two lead characters.
Let's hope all of our lives can end up so positively and be able to grasp life with both hands, and LIVE.
The last thing Annie expects to happen on her wedding day is to get stood up at the altar. When her fiancé, Alexander doesn’t show up to their wedding, his parents tell Annie to go on the already paid for honeymoon. After running into an old friend, Patrick, she invites him to take the trip with her, hoping this trip is the way to mend her heart.
I had high hope for this one, and in many ways it was a fun rom com. There were a few scenes that made me laugh out loud, and the honeymoon itself made me want to go to Australia. That being said, I struggled with this one a bit because it felt so unrealistic that Annie could go from being ready to marry someone to in love with someone else in a matter of weeks. It was hard to get past that and while this one had a lot of potential, it wasn’t my favorite.

When I sat down to read this book I was only going to read a couple of chapters and then go about my day. Next thing I knew I had finished it and the day was gone! Well worth it though. This book is so engaging - the characters are real and flawed but very appealing.
I particularly liked how Patrick's backstory is told with empathy. I live in Australia and, often when I read books set there, I cringe a little at the stereotypes I find within the pages, but thankfully, there was very little of that in this book.
I can't wait to hear more from this author - she gets me! Beaches, Margaret River wines and Sri Lankan curry! Yes please!
a good book worth a read to anyone it is happy and sad in parts story but also a very good storyline which keeps you reading from the first page to the last one
History shared is the heart of the story here. Smarting after her fiancé left her embarrassed and confused on her wedding day Annie struggles to find her footing again. Patrick renters her life to remind her that only she can write her story.
I loved Our Stop and was excited for another book by Laura Jane Williams but unfortunately this one missed the mark for me like The Love Square.
I love the premise of this book, but the rushing into a relationship that fast... This is a quick and easy beach read but slow pacing and meh characters.
This one started out strong. A runaway groom and running into an old crush was the perfect beginning to get me hooked. At first this gave me Unhoneymooners vibes which I was totally up for but there way way too much insta-love.
The main character both came to the relationship with lots of baggage and no plans to unpack it. Honestly I enjoyed this one until they got home from the honeymoon and then it went totally downhill from there. It dragged and lost its sparkle sadly. Unfortunately this one was not for me.
Thank you so much to @avonbooks and @NetGalley for my copy of this book!

The Lucky Escape is a fun, sweet read about Annie, who gets dumped at the altar (well, just before she sets foot in the church) by her fiance Alex. He doesn’t even tell her himself – he gets their wedding planner to break the bad news! When Alex’s parents suggest she still goes on the honeymoon they’d brought for them, Annie decides to go with childhood friend Paddy who she’s recently bumped back into and reconnected with. However, as you’ve probably guessed, sparks start to fly…
A lot of this story is quite predictable – I think that’s sort of a given with this genre. However, Annie is a fun, likeable character and I enjoyed reading about her adventures with Paddy. There’s a lot of tension building with Paddy even though it’s obvious they both really fancy each other, and it takes a while for that to really come to a head, but the story remains entertaining. The characters throughout the story are relatable and I particularly enjoyed reading about their ‘honeymoon’. Once they get back to England, you definitely get that ‘back to reality with a bump’ feeling along with Annie and Paddy as the story starts to focus on how their relationship can manage in the real world. There are bumps along the way but Paddy is (on the whole) such a sweet, caring guy that I was rooting for them to make it work.
Overall I enjoyed this sweet read. I don’t read a lot of books like this as I often find them a bit too cheesy but The Lucky Escape struck the right balance.
This was an okay book but didn't feel new, I definitely expected more since One Stop was so good and felt so original. This however felt like a familiar story, definitely not anything new. It was well written but just fell a little flat for me.
Read 25%.
Unfortunately The Lucky Escape isn't for me, at least at the moment. It's starting off very slow and I'm just not interested in anything that Annie is going through.
I’m honestly unsure how so feel about this book. It was ok & passed the time, it had some interesting characters in it and I continued to read it to the end. However, I was left feeling a little disappointed. I don’t think this is necessarily a reflection on the writing, more my reading preference as I just found the plot a bit too unbelievable to buy into, become involved in and in turn interested in. I realise that often in this genre things happen that wouldn’t necessarily in real life, but I think this just went a bit too far and didn’t match with my expectations.
That said, it did have some great bits - like the main character finally standing up for herself and embarking on the life, and career, right for her.
