I really wanted to love this rom-com — but unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. While it was fun at times and I enjoyed the writing, I just feel like the romance and the overall plot didn't do it for me. I wish that connection to the characters (from my point of view) was stronger and I just felt like there should have been more growth and development throughout the book. I did really enjoy Bridget's writing though, so I am looking forward to trying more of her books in the future.
This had so much potential and fell so incredibly flat for me. Heavy-handed metaphors and genuinely unpleasant characters, and leads with not nearly as much chemistry as everyone in the novel swears they have. It simply didn't work for me.
So, I decided to give this book another shot after DNFing it awhile ago. Sadly, I still had trouble connecting to the story and to the characters. Everything felt flat and the plot was boring.
I had trouble getting into this one. The main character was a struggle for me to connect with. The writing was fine, but it was the main character that was just not working for me. Just not the book for me. But that doesn't mean it isn't for you. I know plenty of people that loved it so you should make your own decision and not just listen to me.
A great romance from Bridget Morrissey, featuring a reclusive actress brought back into the spotlight by her meddling family. Enjoyable!
I love a big, messy extended family and this book has one of the most delightful ones ever. I wanted to hang out with this family forever in their richly detailed world.
A delightful book full of adventure, action, and thrills. Fun to read, engrossing world building, and very descriptive imagery made it feel like it was cinematic. It's hard to resist the story as it drives forward. Would recommend.
Did not finish and therefore. I will not be reviewing on any platforms due to not finishing this book.
I will rate 1 star for the purpose of this feedback, but will not be rating this book on any social media platforms or our blog.
This book and the characters didn't grab me at all, and sadly I couldn't finish.
I want to thank you for the opportunity to review.
Normally books involving celebrities are not my cup of tea but something about this book intrigued me and it really wasn't that bad.
Sloane is an out-of-work actress desperately searching for a new job when her family talks her into working on their World War II romance they're creating. But they neglect to tell her that her former co-star that she despises is the headliner. When the lead character of the show is fired, Sloane steps in and takes over her roll, even if that means working one on one with her nemesis. As the filming continues, Sloane begins to enjoy working with her co-star and is having a hard time discerning between what's being acted and what's real.
The one thing that really turned me off about this book was the cover. I'm all for illustrated characters on the cover but something about this cover just seems sloppy almost like it was done in a rush.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the characters all that much. The banter fell short for me which was sad because I feel like this could have been a great enemies to lovers romance but I couldn't get into their relationship. And don't get me started on Sloane's mother, couldn't stand her.
*Many thanks to Berkley Publishing Group for the gifted copy for my honest review!*
At this time, as I am guessing is obvious by the publication date that was literally years ago, I have decided not to review this title.
Technically, I made this decision a while ago, but was not as prompt with sending feedback as I should have been. My apologies for the delay, as well as clogging up your inbox with this very late review response.
As always, while incredibly late, I thank you for the opportunity to read and review one of your titles.

gah this was so fun, steamy, and deeply touching. i really love the world of film, making movies, and reading about romance and this combined all three of those. despite the characters being classic celebrities and not super relatable, i found myself rooting for them and often smiling when they were interacting. i had so much fun and i think Bridget did such a great job capturing the perfect film!
LOVE SCENES is a delightful blend of heart and humor. The main characters are fun, but sometimes I found it hard to connect to them. All in all, it was the full cast of characters and writing that pushed me to finish the book.
Thank you @berkelyromance for a copy of Love Scene. This was an interesting take of romance with celebrities with Sloan coming from a family of celebrities and an enemies to lovers between Joe and Sloan. I enjoyed the family dynamics of Sloan’s family and how they were all able to work together. I found the love lacking between Sloan and Joe and it seems like it just started and there wasn’t much leading up to it.
The chemistry between these characters was sooo well done! This was a really fun romance and I read it so quick! I enjoyed the character development throughout the book and getting to know the characters.
I read this in one sitting! I really loved the main characters, specifically their development throughout the course of the novel. It's one of the most believable romances I've read in recent memory.
I read this book in a night. I’m a huge fan of a stories about Hollywood bts and fictional celebrities and this one hits the spot! A puppy dog, Irish hero contrasts well with our oldest celebrity child heroine so very well and watching them fall in love over the course of filming a movie together is like eating a comforting dessert! Now the book has flaws - mostly a fairly weak yet convoluted cast and storyline - but I’m in it for the drama and the glam and the off-screen/on-screen chemistry, and it satisfies all that!
Nice quick romance after reading a ton of WWII novels for work! I enjoyed the character development and the story arc. There was a good amount of romance as well. Will definitely recommend for purchase at my library.
I really wanted to love this book. But I just could not get into it. Some of the topics were very heavy (alcoholism, anxiety, etc) and it just made it hard for me to read. Thank you Berkley for a copy, however.
I enjoyed the beginning of Love Scenes, but it went downhill for me. I can't figure out at what point I lost interest. I may try another book from Morrissey in the future, but this one didn't work for me. DNF
This was such a fun Hollywood romance! The enemies-to-lovers aspect paired perfectly with the workplace setting. The sexual chemistry between Sloane and Joseph was also off the charts -- I need more from this author!
