The Jam and Jelly Nook is the final book in the Amish Marketplace series. Leanna Wengerd is a widow, running a stall at the Amish Market to support herself and her son, Chester. He was a sweet boy in previous stories in this series, but he is now a rebellious teen, and Leanna doesn't know what else to do with him. She gets a call late one night, to pick him up at the police station. Fortunately, he was only arrested for trespassing and the owner isn't pressing charges. He was arrested with a young maedel, Maggie, the only daughter of a widower, Emory. Emory and Leanna become friends, helping each other with issues they have with their children. When they try to date, their children are not happy with it. Can they move forward and with the grace of God become a family of four?
I've enjoyed this clean romance series and seeing this group of cousins find romance and happiness. I liked Leanna's character. Her struggles with her son are realistic and I know many parents will identify with her struggles. This is a slow burn romance, with friendship coming first. Emory is a great dad. He wants Maggie to get out and enjoy herself, make friends and even date, but she wants to stray home and take care of him. My dad died when I was young and my mom tried dating a few times. I don't remember being resistant, but she says we were and made it difficult for her to find someone new. I feel bad about that, but did identify somewhat with the kids in this book. This was a nice ending to the series, with an eventual happily ever after.
This was a beautiful second chance at love, story. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Especially catching up with Leanna Wengerd’s cousins from the first three books. The Jam and Jelly Nook is the finale book in An Amish Marketplace series. You can read this book as a standalone but I suggest reading the complete series. You definitely will enjoy each one.
In this book, we get to dive more into Leanne’s life and the troubles she’s having with her son, After losing her husband seven years ago. Sad to see this series end, but I enjoyed all of the characters and their storylines. Well done Amy!!
Another outstanding story by one of my favorite authors! Amy Clipston knows how to tell a story, and these characters absolutely touched my heart. I was cheering for them to find their happily-ever-after. This is a wonderful example of just how interesting Amish fiction can be,
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
This was such a sweet and savory finale to the Amish Marketplace quartet. I enjoyed the cousins’ stories, and Leanna’s was no exception. I liked very much that her love interest and she helped each other out with their rebellious and confused teenagers. Those dynamics were complex and beautiful and oh-so-sweet.
About the rebellion, I would have appreciated a much more original option than teen smoking. That one has been overdone by books and films.
If Leanna and Chester would have had a conversation early on, they could have easily solved their problems—but then we wouldn’t have a story. Still, I feel like communication was lacking.
Those negatives aside, I adored this story and would gladly read it again.
Content: teen smoking
I have enjoyed Amy for a nice sweet read. The other books in this series were adorable so I was so excited to receive a review copy for her newest release!
Thank you to Netgalley for an opportunity to read and review this ARC. This book is the fourth and final installment in Amish Marketplace series and I have not read the first three which is ok because this book can be a great standalone. The storyline of this book was really good and it was well written. I really loved the characters and the family connections are so strong! I would highly recommend this book!
The Jam and Jelly Nook, book four from Amy Clipston's Amish Marketplace series, was a good Amish read. Four stars.
This was such a great book to end the series. I always enjoy reading anything Amy Clipston writes.
Leanna is a widow and has a teenager, Chester, who is going through a rough time and still dealing with grief. Leanna meets Emory, a widower, after his daughter, Maggie, and Chester get in trouble, Leanna and Emory kick off a friendship by helping each other's child realize that they are important and guide them to be normal, yet law abiding teenagers. Leanna and Emory soon feel that their friendship is changing into something more but are afraid to tell each other how they are feeling. Can they overcome the fear and move on in their relationship?
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
In the fourth and final installment of Amy Clipston's bestselling Amish Marketplace series, a young widow dreams of a second chance at love. Since her husband died seven years ago, Leanna Wengerd has been struggling to raise her son, Chester, who is going through a somewhat rebellious phase. When Chester gets into trouble for trespassing, he ends up at the police station with his friend, Maggie, who was riding with him to a youth gathering. Leanna comes to pick him up and meets Maggie's father, Emory. Emory is also a widower, who is struggling to raise Maggie alone. Since Emory and Leanna are facing similar burdens and worries, they quickly become friends and, overtime start realizing exactly how much they have in common. As single parents, they're struggling to provide for all of their children's physical and emotional needs, but when they try to date, both of their children resist. Can they build a family together or are there too many obstacles in their path to happily ever after?
I think I say this about all of Amy's series but this one may be my favorite series that she's written. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the key characters. I especially love the relationship between the cousins and how they're each others' best friends and best support until each find their respective spouses. I was very much looking forward to seeing Leanna find another chance at happiness, but also dreading seeing the series come to an end. This book is all about forgiving oneself and about second chances. It is about the importance of talking about your feelings and getting help with the problems you face so they don't get bigger and harder to face. I really love the way Emory was able to connect with Chester and help him and the way that Leanna formed a bond with the very shy Maggie. Their story really is a sweet easy read.
This is the last book in the Amish Marketplace series. It has been seven years since Leanna's husband passed away. Seven long years. She loves running her jam & jelly booth at the Amish market. Her, now, teenage son, Chester, gives her plenty to worry about.
Imagine her horror and dismay when called to the police station to pick up Chester. But, as we know, good things can come out of bad things as in this case when she meets Emory there. Emory is a widower struggling to raise his teen daughter, Maggie, who just happens to have gotten into mischief with Chester.
Leanna and Emory share many of the same struggles that comes with being a single parent.
This is such a heart warming story, and just may be my favorite in this series.
I was given an advanced ecopy by the publisher, Zondervan and Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
Leanna and her 3 best friends and cousins had a booth at the local market.
Unfortunately now only Leanna and Bethany have one each, after Christiana and Salina marriage.
Leanna sells jam and jelly, Bethany different flours of coffe and donuts.
Leanna is a widow with a child, she still love her late husband.
"Surely love like theirs happened only once in a lifetime"
I read all of 4 books of the serie, about the 4 cousins, love them!
Plain, realistic, lovely stories.
I recommend them all, enjoy.
Leanna Wengerd, a widow with a teenage son, struggles with missing her husband and dealing with her son, Chester. She sells her jelly and jam in the marketplace to support herself, but longs for more. She meets a widower, Emory, who has a teen daughter, and their attraction grows, but it seems Emory has chosen someone else to pursue. The two do become close friends as does his daughter, Maggie. The characters and their life situations seem quite realistic as does the plot. I have enjoyed all the novels in this Amish series and am sorry it is coming to an end. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #TheJamandJellyNook #NetGalley
I have really enjoyed the Amish Marketplace series and am sorry to see it come to a close.
It's been so fun getting to know the cousins and see their shops at the Amish Marketplace. Seeing these ladies have romances and start families has also been fun.
This last book in the series features Leanna Wengerd a widowed woman with a teenage son.
Just like the non Amish Mother's she has doubts on how well she is mothering her son and how to reach him and make that personal connection. She feels doubtful about her mothering capabilities and feels maybe if she had remarried sooner while her son was younger he would be more manageable with a man's influence.
After not being able to find her son late one evening she gets a call she dreads.
When she goes to pick her son up at the police station she meets an Amish man whose daughter is also there because of the same incident.
Having someone to talk about they share their frustrations with each other about their teenagers over coffee and a connection is made.
Are each of them ready to move on and let their heart be free to welcome the possibility of a second chance at love and how will their children feel about this possibility after they have had just one parent for so long?
I am really going to miss this series but I know the author will WOW us with something new soon just as spectacular!
Pub date May 2021
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you.

It's finally Leanna's turn to find love (again). All her cousins are married and have children or in the process of having children. Although her son is old enough to have his own job and to spend the evenings with friends she is worried about him. Especially when she gets a call late at night to come pick him up from the police station. While there she meets Emory and finds herself drawn to his calm spirit. Can they develop a friendship that leads to more?
This has been my favorite Amy Clipston series. I am going to miss the cousins and hope to see cameos of them in future stories just so I can get updates on their lives. Please don't ask me to pick a favorite as I can't. They are all wonderful.
Each book can be read as a standalone so the order is not highly important. My suggestion, don't just get one at a time get them all as you will not want to wait. Clean reads with no cursing and no sex. Safe for just about any age.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Zondervan Fiction, through NetGalley. All opinions expressed above are entirely my own.
Book 4 in the Amish Marketplace has not disappointed me. I am really sad that this series has come to an end but praise the talent of Amy Clipston. In this book Leanna meets Emory. This story teaches us that faith and patience go hand in hand. When life throws two widower's together it will change each of their lives for the better. Each of Amy's Books gets better and better.
A story of new beginnings. A chance to heal. An opportunity to grow.
This book explores the topic of healing and moving forward. We all experience setbacks one time or another. How we handle these setbacks determines our future.
Emory and Leanna never expected to find themselves in this situation. Could they ignore the attraction they felt for each other?
At times, I was frustrated with Emory. He made things much more difficult for himself. He wasn't listening to himself and to GOD. It was almost too late.
The Amish Marketplace series concludes with the last cousin, Leanna trying to deal with Chester, her rebellious teenager as a single mom. Emory, who also has lost a spouse is coping with a reclusive daughter that is trying to be the perfect teen. When Leanna and Emory meet in an unexpected place, will they be able to help each other? This is a sweet story about second chances after losing a spouse. I love the way the author chose to wrap up the series but will miss the delightful cousins and the marketplace. Recommended!
When I was younger people used to tell me that I didn’t know how to “pleasure” read because I only read heavy and obscure books by their standards. Now when I read books like these for more simple pleasure, I’m told it is weird to do so. Moral of the story: read whatever you want and don’t listen to others.
Now, this book was just what I look for in books like this - wholesome, sweet, and romantic. It is easy to read and a pleasure to do so, what I really appreciated about this book in particular is that the romantic focus is on widowers with troubled teens and the prospect of dating after the loss of a spouse, and while taking the feelings of teenagers/ children into the equation. It was lovely to see this balance of thinking of ones own needs, but also considering the needs and wishes and growth of the children.
Therefor I thought it was a bit redundant adding a romantic complication that mostly felt forced and which made me feel terrible for another character. That dampened the happy ending a little for me.
I would wish the the characters had been developed just a bit more deeply, now there is a lot of telling, rather than showing, and while it is fine, I personally felt there was just a little something lacking for me to really “feel” the main characters. I still kind of cried at the end when Maggie and Emory spoke of his intentions, because I am soft like that and Maggie was my favorite character whose growth felt the most organic,
One pet peeve however is that, for some unknown reason, this text does not use a regular period “.” Instead it uses some form of a little star that my keyboard doesn’t have, and it drove me up a wall! Periods do not need to be festive! I just couldn’t tolerate that and don’t understand the purpose of it at all. Less sensitive readers may not relate to my outrage, I realize, but this was something that genuinely bothered me.
All in all, a very sweet read that I would recommend to those enamored with this genre, at least if you don’t mind the grammatical nightmare mentioned above.
Thank you to NetGalley and Zondervan for this ARC and thus giving me some well-needed read-relaxation when not handling my hurricane of a 10 week old puppy.
As with all the other books in this series, I enjoyed this book. It's an easy, light-hearted read. I loved the characters throughout the series, and enjoyed the series immensely.
The final novel in Amy Clipston's Amish Marketplace does not disappoint. The Jam and Jelly Nook follows Leanna, the oldest of the three cousins that have had booths at the marketplace to sell their wares and support their families. Leanna's husband Marlin has been dead for several years and she has raised her son Chester with the help of her parents. She runs the Jam and Jelly Nook at the marketplace and has a thriving business, but lately, Chester seems to be pulling away from her. When he gets in trouble for trespassing and she has to pick him up at the police station, she meets Emory. Emory is Maggie's dad and Maggie was with Chester when the police picked them up. Emory and Leanna begin to spend time with each other after this, as they both are struggling with being single parents to teenagers. They both feel an attraction towards each other, but their kids are against the idea. How can they find a way to each other without causing even more trouble with their family?
Told in Clipston's voice and with a great message about the importance of friendship and family, The Jam and Jelly Nook is a great conclusion to the series. But really, we could have more. We have read the cousins stories, but I would be game to read more about Chester or Maggie! Thanks to Amy Clipston for sharing her stories with us and thanks to #NetGalley for the chance to read them. All opinions are my own. #Bookstagram #all_the_pages
