What an amazing book about fantastic girls. As an educator, I would use this book as a resource for a research paper on a person. If a student knew they wanted to write about a girl who played an important role in history I would recommend this book. The student would be able to read about 25 different girls in the short stories provided in the book and possibly pick one of them to do their research on. Powerful girls in real life are important to have representation in children's books. Every young girl deserves to have positive role models that are not from social media accounts. I will be reading more from Rebel Girls soon.
The format continues to be a winner; short snapshots of lives that take no more than a page so are perfect for reluctant readers or for a brief pre bed read. Hopefully diversity continues to be represented in all the future versions without duplication.
Thanks Netgalley for the advanced read copy.
The picture, set up and laid out information per Leader, make this a very easy to digest non-fiction biographical book for children. It is bright, and engaging - all while encouraging everyone to follow their dreams. However, I would have loved to have seen more Leaders from outwith America. We know its a big place, but the world is bigger...
My only issue was feeling sad that I hadn't done as much as some of these incredible women at 31 haha. But seriously, I would have no qualms about buying this or any other Rebel Girl books for my nieces and nephews. :D
I highly recommend this book to everyone. I love how this book covers some great women around the world. Love the art. This book can be a good bedtime story book for my kid. All in all a great book to read and let everyone read it.
I gave this book four stars. Overall, it was a good book. The book covered a lot of women. Each woman had short biography that was one page and was accompanied by a picture. I really enjoyed seeing the art for each of the women and seeing what quote the authors choose for each of the women.
Another plus of this book was the amount of diversity. There were multiple ethnicities and skin colors represented in this book. I’m not entirely sure on the LGBT+ rep in this book, but the fact that Rebel Girls didn’t just chose white female leaders was definitely a highlight.
I have heard of some of these women, but I can always learn more. The writing style was meant for younger kids and so it matched the ages this book was designed for. I was not a fan of the writing style (and that’s okay I’m a little older than the age it was intended for). However, the book did leave me wanting more information on some of the women and I am interested in reading other books about these women and so overall good job Rebel Girls.
One note though, Kamala Harris is not first vice president of color (that honor belongs to Charles Curtis). She is the first female, WOC, South Asian, and Black American to be vice president.
I would recommend this book to others with younger daughters or sisters.

This is a book that all women, who wish to make a difference in the world, must read. Come, one and all. Here is the power of one, to make a difference to all. I highly recommend this powerful, inspiring and motivational book.
My childminder had recommended the Rebel Girls books to me for my 6yo daughter. We're on a mission to teach her that women can do anything and it's not all about looking pretty.
The first night we got this we read through the first two stories, they're only 1 page each so they were very quick. My daughter didn't understand everything, but she is only young and it led to some interesting conversations. We then had a look through all of the other women in the book and did a quick overview of who they were and what they had done. We have then read a couple of stories each night.
I like that there is such a wide variety of women featured in here; from political activists, sports women and entertainers. There's also a great range of diversity which has been really good for teaching my daughter about different cultures and how women are treated around the world.
I have seen some reviews question the inclusion of Melinda Gates, for me I think she is a good person to have included, yes she was married to a billionaire but that does not take away the work that she did in the technology field and also the philanthropic work that she has done since. She also works hard to raise awareness that what women do counts.
A well thought out and colourful book. I have two daughters and one son, we enjoyed learning about these inspiring women. I found the lay out of the book very user friendly and it didn't overwhelm my youngest daughter.
My 18 year old daughter is studying law and politics, history and business A levels. So she's taking some examples from this book to her next class to talk.about.
I feel that this book helps girls to feel empowered to live to their full potential and believe in themselves. A very positive book.
Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
What does every single woman mentioned in the book have in common ?? It is that they have broken barriers and fought their way to where they are today or were during their time . In a male dominated society there women act like guiding path for millions of girls and everyone in general and this book was very brilliant able to convey this message, to shorten 25 brilliant journeys into 25 short stories for younger people to read .
This book is not only for children but for everyone who need a reminder that even the hardest things can be achieved if you are rebel enough
Thank you netgalley for providing me an arc to this beautiful book
This is my first Rebel Girls book and I loved it! What a way to touch on so many very different amazing women. I will be adding this to our collection for when my daughters is a little bit older.
i absolutely loved this book, it is a collection of stories of women all around the world, who fought and rebelled for their rights and justice , the illustrations were just so beautiful and amazing and the stories just fills you with motivation, and the last story of the book (sobs) it was so precious, its a book i will really recommend, its perfect for the children growing up or if you just want a light read, thank you netgalley for providing the arc for this
Rebel Girls Lead is about 25 inspiring women (some relevant and some possibly not so) to encourage the young girls of today that they too can be the future rebels and leaders in the world.
Each page has a section about the woman along with a beautiful illustration and quote. It is laid out really well with eye catching colours and it is very engaging. You could even use some of the illustrations/quotes as art work in a young rebels bedroom it would look great (buy two copies of the book obvs!).
There were some women I had never heard about who I will now go away to research and find out more about. The stories are inspiring and diverse, every little girl will find someone to look up to.
At the end there is a section for the reader to write their own story and to draw their own picture along with a quiz about what kind of leader they are? There is also some leadership training they can do so the book is also interactive.
I will be purchasing for a number of little rebel girls in my life as I think they will really enjoy it.

I adored this collection of stories. I love that it is available to my students on Epic! and was easily able to recommend or assign it to them. The stories are inspirational, inclusive, and provide many opportunities for discussions.
I have recommended this collection to many other educators and friends with kids and I look forward to future instalments in the the Rebel Girls series.
I love reading the Rebel Girl Lead series along with my daughter. Her and I have learned so much about women from all different backgrounds and how they became who they are today. My daughter found several ladies in this book that she wanted to learn more on. We went to YouTube to watch real life videos on Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, and Aly Raisman to name a few. This makes a great book to give as gifts or add to your children's bookshelf.
I'm so glad this little book exists! If there was any year we needed a positive reminder on the remarkable things that humanity can do then this year is it. To read about each of the ladies in here kicking butt was so uplifting, and I honestly teared up a little with a few of them. And it was great to see Michelle Obama, RBG, and Rigoberta Menchú side by side was incredible, as well as the fact they included Cleopatra and Elizabeth I: - I really enjoyed how this book dropped a few well known ladies into the mix along with a few maybe lesser knowns, and how it wasn't all drawn by the 1 artist and each artist's name was on each drawing, rather than just in a list at the back, making it super easy to search out more work from your favourites.
4 out of 5 stars. This is another book immediately going on the 'buy a copy for all the kids in my life' list.
Although I already knew about a few of the women in the book, I loved learning about so many more inspiring and strong stories throughout the years.
I've given my sister a Rebel Girls book for Christmas before and I'll definitely be getting her this one too!
This book is fabulous! I really enjoyed the format of it. There was a diverse selection of women featured of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life. Some of the people were familiar to me, but I also learned about some that I had never heard of before! The accompanying illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. The information is succinct and child-friendly without dumbing anything down. I would feel comfortable reading this with my third grade students.
I'm definitely putting this on the wishlist for my classroom library. I think it would be a valuable addition to my nonfiction section. I also can see myself using this as a read aloud, maybe doing one biography a day during transition times - then, if students are interested in learning more details about someone, we can look into other books and resources to research them.
thanks to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

combining well-known public figures and other heroines that are less famous, this collection of stories about brave strong women recognizes the efforts they put into their battles and how their resilience and persistence helped them to get where they are. it's important that little girls know their value and get inspired by other women who are not afraid to make a change in the world.
A great shorter collection of young biographies of important women throughout history (mostly modern history, Cleopatra being the main outlier). The included illustrations of each woman are to die for! The biographies themselves are incredibly short, but work well for the format. Highly suggested for libraries where the original series is popular!
Amazing and inspiring read perfect for girls and women of all ages! The stories are short concise and engaging. The pictures are adorable too! I highly recommend this book!
