Nice book! I do love the rebel girls book series but my only issue was with the focus on American girls and women. It would be nice to see an inclusive version that wasn't so America-centric. Apart from that, not much to complain. It is a wonderful, inspirational series for young impressionable girls and does a great job. Makes a great gift for the young girls in your life. Definitely should be carried by as many libraries as possible.
This is an interesting and engaging nonfiction fiction book. I enjoyed the diverse range of women featured and the layout was very effective. This is a great book to dip in and out of.
Another great addition to the Rebel Girl series! Some of the lesser known women pictured were quite interesting reads and of course the very well known women leaders were a great read too!
What’s not to love about this book!?
I was so excited to see this one in the @netgalley read now section!
I bought Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls a year ago for my daughter and even though she’s only nearly 2 she loves to flip through it and has since the day I brought it home (see www.Instagram.com/readingforkeeps for a cute video!).
Rebel Girls Lead is filled with (concise) stories of our female leaders. Strong women, determined women. Women who seek out and implement change. Complimented by original, colourful illustrations and a powerful quote. There is also a fun little quiz at the end and some Leadership Training exercises 👏
Highly recommend 🙌
Thanks @netgalley for the chance to peruse this one - I am definitely aiming to collect this whole series!!
Another inspirational book from a well established series which is aimed at promoting empowerment and establishing confidence in young girls. The snap shot of information provided gives enough detail for the younger readers and can pique the interest of the older reader, hopefully encouraging them to want to find out more. I know I wanted to do my own research afterwards which would definitely make me recommend this book.
I love biography story collections. What a great collection of women. We often pick one to read a day. I love the lessons we learn from these amazing people
I’ve been reading this with my seven year old daughter over the last week. It’s a great addition to the Rebel Girls series , my older daughter enjoyed the earlier books.
It’s the perfect level of information for a seven year old. She was able to read it herself , to me, and it prompted some good chats about what’s possible and what she would like do when she’s older. There’s enough there to spark interest in the women’s lives and a great introduction to their achievements . Strong positive message. Will buy her the book when published.
I love this series of books so I have to admit I’m a bit bias. 25 Rebel Girls Lead 25 tales of powerful women illustrated by 25 female artists from all over the world! What’s not to like???
Sometimes the begging of each story seems repetitive and the illustrations sometimes don’t seem to resemble the actual person but I think they do reflect the individuality of the artists and their own style.
Highly recommend to everyone!
Incredible. Always love anything about empowering women. And so great that these were mostly stories of diversity. Another great book for every classroom and home.
This is another GREAT addition the the Rebel Girls library! I love these books so much! They present the stories of these historical women in a fun way that doesn't feel like forced learning.
I received a gifted copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
My daughter and I both absolutely love this book. Just enough information is given to get my daughter's interest and start a discussion, without being too overwhelming. A wide range of individuals are featured and the illustrations are eye-catching and beautifully drawn.
I LOVE this book!! Such a unique group of women covered with lovely illustrations and short summaries about these Rebel Girls. One of my favorite things about this book is that the illustrations are done by different people - really adds a nice dynamic to see the artist interpretations of these strong women.
We have been fans of Rebel Girls since they published their first book. As a mother, I want my children, regardless of gender, to be aware of the strong women in history who have helped shape the world despite being overlooked. I have to say, I have really enjoyed reading Rebel Girls Lead with my kids. Not only has Rebel Girls provided a diverse list of female leaders, but they have included information about when these women were little girls. It’s one thing for kids to hear about adults doing fantastic feats. It is another for them to think about when these leaders were kids and how they, too, can grow up to change the world.
As each person only has a limited about of space devoted to them, information is not detailed. Admittedly, based on my own knowledge of history, some of the history glosses over some facts, but overall, Rebel Girls has once again produced a quality book.
Outstanding piece of work, full of fantastic role models and exciting women forging new paths. A true pleasure to share with children.
At first, I would like to thank @Netgalley and @rebelgirls for allowing me to review this book. Keep in mind that my review, however, is my true opinion on this book.
“Rebel Girls Lead: 25 Tales of Powerful Women” is a book of some very successful and powerful women from our history. All of them are true stories and real women: A gymnast and team captain, a chancellor, a queen, a CEO, a basketball coach, a climate activist and so on. In the book 25 incredible women are displayed along with a description of the way they have influenced the world.
Along with the stories, there are beautiful illustrations of the women. And there is even room for you to write and draw your own personal story. How cool is that!
And there is a small quiz, where you can find out what kind of leader you are.
This is a true inspirational book for all of the young girls out there. It is very cute!
I loved reading about these feirce influential , powerful women . Some kf them i knew about but most of them were lost in history . I think it is so important for one to reqd about women who have carved their path . Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an E arc .
In this volume of rebel girls, short stories are presented about the lives of 25 women who were or are leaders in the world, but not only political leaders, but athletes and artists as well, who stand out in what they do or did.
The information is quite basic, sometimes it seems that it does not have a chronological order and in some narratives it has errors. The most notable is the one they do with Queen Elizabeth I, saying that she and her brother Edward were Jane’s children, when her mother was Anne Boleyn.
Another notable thing is that most of these women are from the United States of America and there is not much diversity among them either.
There is one thing that seems to me a mistake and almost an offense, for the culture, as for Mexican women and it is: "Once upon a time there was a girl who didn't want to make tortillas" like what? It seems stereotypical and offensive to me (and I am a Mexican woman).
I would not say that it is a good book, but this is my opinion, I am not a mother, nor am I the target of this book.
I truly enjoyed sharing in this book with my daughter. She is 3 years old, but I find the colorful nature of the Rebel Girls stories holds her attention really well. I am a Momma who wants my girl to feel as though she can do anything so long as she works for what she wants. This book focusing on women in leadership is perfect for helping her learn this message! I'm so glad my daughter & I were approved for this wonderful read and recommend it to any parents.
I am so grateful for this book. There has been such negativity and death in the world recently, and I was looking for something positive. I suppose sometimes we all just need an inspiring book to lift up our spirits! This book was exactly that. Stories of strong women from all around the world, fighting their battle and never giving up no matter what. So inspirational; and it goes to tell, consistent hard work gets you to places. No matter what people say or how they make you feel, you just need one true believer to support you truly.
I am so happy to learn about the journeys of these strong women, some of which I hadn't heard until now! It's never too late though.
Even though this book is designed for kids (I cannot wait to read this book to my kids someday in the distant future.) it is just as effective for adults. The ending of the book gives us an opportunity to write our own stories and draw ourselves along with a quiz that determines what type of leader we would be. It was really exciting to read Rebel Girls Lead.
Thank you Netgalley and Rebel Girls for this ARC. It helped me breathe better.
This book is a perfect read for young children, but mostly young women. There are stories from inspiring women past to present, which encourage girls to do anything they set their mind to. I will definitely be buying a copy of this for my goddaughter, I love knowing there are books like this out there. It will change some young girls lives, I can guarantee it.
