A fun picture book to get kids excited about Halloween. It is not scary and focuses on kid-friendly activities like finding a costume, bobbing for apples, the seasonal changes, etc.

I like that this picture book features diverse characters, and the illustrations are pretty cute. It definitely gets you in the Halloween spirit.

A cute, diverse Halloween book. It is a fun and worth adding to your collection, even if only to add to the diversity of your Halloween collection. Besides having kids with multiple skin colors, a child in a wheelchair is featured heavily.

This is a cute rhyming book sharing activities and events that occur before and during the Hallowe'en season. My four year old granddaughter loved the illustrations and the simple text. After we read the book, we went back through it talking about the vocabulary and the pictures. She loves to dress up in last year's Hallowe'en costume and she put it on and we played trick or treat. The illustrations are wonderful with vibrant colours and lots of detail. I liked how this book showed what our community looks like with children from various backgrounds and cultures. There was even a young man in a wheelchair enjoying all the same events as the other kids showing acceptance which is also welcome.

I enjoyed reading this book about Fall, and can picture my preschoolers falling in love with all of the festivities involved in preparing for Halloween. But my favorite part was how inclusive the illustrations were. It can be difficult to find preschool picture books that feature children with disabilities in the illustrations, especially books that are about preschool themes (such as Halloween) rather than being about disability. My one complaint was a page where the cut down the middle of the illustration made it appear as if the child who uses a wheelchair was separate from the rest of the parade, but the rest of the illustrations were lively and inclusive.

Halloween is Coming is the perfect picture book for those that enjoy Halloween and the seasonal activities leading up to it!

With beautiful rhyming text and cute illustrations featuring children in their community, this picture book spans the autumn season and shares all the lovely things that lead up to Halloween, from falling leaves to farmers' markets to fun, fairytale costumes.

This is a gentle picture book with a focus on autumn and autumn activities as well as Halloween and doesn't focus on the spooky parts as much as having fun with friends and family. The children's costumes are all adorable instead of spooky, which we think makes this perfect for little readers and listeners.

Super adorable book for kiddos - I read it to my daughter and she loved the little girl in the story. Great book to have around the Halloween holiday!

While the main characters are inclusive, the story/rhyme itself didn't do much to grab my attention. There are SO MANY Halloween children's books that I'm not sure this one would be among my top picks.

This was A really fun book with very good illustrations. It was a cute book about the signs to tell that Halloween is coming. There were also cute rhymes.

Seasonal titles are often hit-or-miss in terms of quality and sales-worthiness. You have your perennial bestsellers, the classics, which always perform well. Then there’s the seasonal titles featuring licensed characters, like Pete the Cat or Peppa Pig. These are always a big hit with preschool audiences but are certainly nothing to write home about. And then finally are the newbies, the titles published especially for the holiday(s) in question that aren’t tied to any other franchise or proud tradition save the holiday itself.

Halloween Is Coming! belongs to the last category. My verdict: it’s absolutely delightful. Everett’s pithy rhymes combined with Wen’s clean and colorful illustrations make for a spook-tacular family read for Halloween night. I also really appreciated the diversity of the children featured in the picture book. Too many children’s books focus exclusively on able-bodied white children and this deliberate act of exclusion prevents BIPOC children and children who are differently-abled from being able to socialize themselves within the framework of their peers. In short, representation matters, and it doesn’t just matter in social issue titles that explicitly deal with race, ability, or any other demographic characteristic.

I’m comfortable in saying that Halloween Is Coming! is my favorite new Halloween title published this year and will be one I enjoy reading in the future as well as recommending to my littlest customers and their adults.

This fun book gives a heart-warming Halloween/ fall vibes. "Halloween is Coming,"can be used to read just to make readers feel good and festive, and teach few things for readers who aren't familiar with the concept of halloween celebration. Filled with rhymes and colorful illustrations , this book is ideal for both young and adult audience.

What a fun read! I loved the rhyming scheme in this book, and I think adults will enjoy it just as much as children.

Halloween is Coming is a picture book chock-full of rhyming phrases about Halloween. It includes a diverse group of characters involved in lots of fun Fall activities.

The illustrations are full of dazzling fall colors. There are many extra illustrations in the front and back of the book to add to that Halloween spirit.

This is a fun read for young kids. The phrases are short and catchy. They seem perfect for little ears to pick up on and memorize. this is definitely a great choice to read to little ones in October.

I will admit what drew me to this book was the cover and the little boy in the wheelchair. I am so happy to see children's book include children in a wheelchair.
This is a cute rhyming book to highlight all the sights and sounds that show Halloween is coming soon to your neighborhood. Children are going to love all the things that they can point out in the book as signs that the holiday is getting closer.
The illustrations are beautiful and really add a lot to the story.

This is a cute little book. The best part were the illustrations, in my opinion. The rhyming/poetry aspect was a little weak.

I love kids books that rhyme and this one wasn't too long. I really love that it is centered around Halloween and I think this would be a great storytime book.

The weather is changing, daylight is getting shorter, the air smells, the leaves, and you can't forget the dressing up for candy. A reminder of what Halloween is to kiddos. A time to get together. Reading the sights and sounds of Halloween and why kids love it!

So darling! The end papers are just dreamy! Love the diversity, love the variety of abilities, love that the Halloween characters are included throughout the book. This is just an A+ book and something I will absolutely purchase for our home library!

I suppose I need to start with a disclaimer. I LOVE Hallowe’en. Autumn is by far my favourite season and Halloween was always my pick of holidays. As a kid Christmas was too stressful, Easter was boring, birthdays put too much attention/stress on me, but Hallowe’en was just plain fun and fed my massive sugar addiction (which I still have today). So now that you know I’m biased let’s talk about this adorable, rhyming children’s book!

First thing that stood out to me was the medium the illustrations use. It’s (somewhat) rare to see pencil crayons used as the primary medium. I gotta say, I love it! The pictures feel childlike without being amateur and it just gives a great feel of movement with the strokes being visible in the pencil crayon colours.

The next treat in Halloween is Coming is that the entire book rhymes! These are my favourite kids books to read aloud as they have a pacing of their own that doesn’t require the reader to think too hard. It’s also fun and easier for kids to memorize and recite lines with you if they have heard the book enough times.

Lastly, this is a very diverse and inclusive book. Not only do we have children and parents of all races; but we also have a little boy in a wheelchair. My younger cousin who has been in a wheelchair his whole life would have really appreciated this as a kid. A book about being a normal kid, doing a normal activity that he can see himself in. It’s important we show disabled kids doing ‘regular’ things and not just read them books about being strong or persevering. Something my cousin (now an adult) have talked about at length. He hated the ‘go you’ books and wished for more content just like this!

If you’re thinking this is a seasonal only book, you’d theoretically be right. But I’m the kind of Auntie that would gift this book anytime to a child that loves to dress-up, play in the leaves, or go trick or treating. And even if you only brought this book out once a year for a month; it’s still well worth the investment in an adorable, beautiful, rhyming story.
